Suffice it to say she appears to have locked up ACC POY as she earns her fourth straight ACC Player of the Week. If she wins the next two weeks she will have won 50% of the season I believe.

They'll find some way to give it to Caitlin Clark /s
I feel like there's an echo in here. You sure you're not just posting the same story week after week?
Once again, Kitley slides up and is now tied for 5th in the country in scoring (23.3 ppg), and stays at 6th in rebounds per game (11.8). She's the only player in the country who is in the TOP 30 for both scoring and rebounding. And she's the only non-guard among the top 12 scorers.
Isn't she technically in the TOP 6 for both scoring and rebounding...
yes, but is the only player who is in the top-30 for both. meaning nobody is close in combined output for those stats
Can Kitley stay for a 6th year?
Only if she is going to our medical school, rooming with Georgia, and not playing basketball.
But doesn't she have a twin Beth Kitley that still has eligibility left?
Not sure if the Hokie track for the beard portion was intentional but I am here for it.
If a cross between Guy Fawkes & Groucho Marx became a pirate...
Oh, you mean the Liz Kitley Award for ACC Basketball Excellence?
Seriously, counting her Freshman of the Week honors, that gives her 18 on her career. Way more than anybody else.
I was going to post a link to the hall of fame voting, but when I followed it they had posted results and neither Amoore or Kitley won...then I realized they were last year's results. No idea when they will tabulate this year's votes. Hopefully they don't do a deep dive on the email addresses when Caitlin Clark loses to Amoore for point guard...
I think they have finished the voting. I tried again yesterday, following the link from earlier, but it didn't go to the vote page.
Hannah Hidalgo may end up passing her quickly though if you count the FotW. Think Hidalgo has gotten 12 of the 16 FotW this season.
That would be lame. Give the woman Freshman of the Year if she's the best freshman. If she had won player of the week that many times, sure, but she didn't except for one week.
I think he meant Hildalgo would be passing Kitley in a metric of combined career FotW and PotW... And tbf, Hildalgo would not be able to pass it until at least another season.
This
But I know what love is
That line lost that man his virginity, respect.
it also put him at risk of contracting a seriously deadly STD.
and it also provided him with a beautiful child. So, yeah, not a terrible outcome
But not the expected outcome.
Sorry, sorry, it was right there and I couldn't help myself.
this is much appreciated and well played.
But factually, not correct. Transmission of HIV from mother to child is only 25 to 30% if untreated (source), and from female to male about 0.04% per sexual act without treatment/protection in developed countries (source).
Not sure why I have to let facts get in the way of a good Fuente joke... I have issues.
The only thing facts get in the way of is ignorance.
Gotta love TKP- discussion of Liz Kitley transmogrifies into discussion of STD transmission. (Not surprised- just amused. Truly never know what tangent things will go off on lol.)
I would have expected this to come up over in the Radford baseball thread. Maybe that's why we beat them so bad. "Jock itch."
This conversation has taken an unfortunate (but very TKP) turn.
At least it wasn't about condoments?
At what point do we start blaming the parents? [ducks]
Say what you will, but his momma really cared about his schoolin.
This is a fair question
I'd say I'm comfortable blaming parents by minute 20 or so when it's obvious Jenny's dad is taking liberties with his own daughter
Looks like LOLUVa WBB is following the football tradition of pretending a sellout against Tech is their fans showing up when we know Hokies are flooding the arena.
"Sunday will no different" lol
Actually it really won't be different - Cassell North baby!!!
I hope it's 75% maroon in those stands.
"Public Ivy"
Hey, don't hate. They're the #2 Public University...in the state.
$10? Get this to the fan base
This is borderline delusional. I know it's a rivalry game, but don't pretend your team is the one everyone is there to support.
That's like your buddy bragging that everyone loves to come hang out at his house, but in reality he just had a smoking hot sister.
Congrats on several "Accomplishments" here Wahoos.
The 15 years thing...that was at loluva against Tennessee in 2009, with 11,895 in attendance during the Pat Summitt era.
And with their "pedigree" of having nearly 200 more wins overall than us, I'm sure they consider themselves one of the elite women's programs...
This also follows the 21-22 attendance where we outdrew them at home 1,739 to 1,643, again, despite the much larger arena for them.
This season, loluva averages 4,422 at home (30% capacity). VT averages 6,338 at home (71% capacity) with 5 sell-out crowds and a 60% smaller arena.
The attendance shown on the ESPN Box score is 11,975, surpassing the Tenn game 15 years ago. I'm sure they'll take all the credit for selling out the house, despite Hokies filling seats and $10 tix.
From the ESPN recap:
Surprised they didn't do a Valpak promotion to boot.
pssst. Virginia Tech did not care, invest in, acknowledge, grow their women's basketball program until about 5-6 years ago. So congrats UVA.
From 98-2004 Hokies did. Bonnie Henrickson had the Hokies rolling in those years. She had Hokies in the tournament five of seven seasons. That was the transition years between A-10 and Big East. Ladies were 28-3 in 98-99. Never won less than 20 games under her. After her though it was a steep slope down.
Yeah this was during my time at VT. Didn't we have a sweet 16 appearance in 99?
Yeah Hokies were #4 seed and lost to #1 seed Tennessee in Greensboro.
I was there.
You know the game is at 6. That gives me time for the drive up after church. I need to check with the wife tonight about maybe a trip on Sunday.
I think we know who is winning it this week
The refs?
ESPN put out an updated top 25 NCAAWBB players. Liz and Georgia came it at #6 & #7, respectively.
Dont tell the NCAA tournament that. Not a Hokie to be found in a group of about 10 players as a promo social media post for March Madness. They included Rivers from NC State and Hidalgo from Notre Dame rather than Amoore or Kitley. Another odd snub was no Sheldon from Ohio State or any other Buckeyes.
If Kitley is out for the tournament, I'm sure we'll get the FSU CFP treatment and end up with 5 or 6 seed despite the season we had.
Hard to beat a team 3 times. Without Kitley, UNC could beat us in our first acc T game and yeah- I think 4-5 seed comes into play at that point
Aren't we guaranteed at least a 4 seed since 1-4's are host sites and they already announced those?
Those were just early reveals by the selection committee, an "if the tournament started today" look at the top 16 seeds.
if possible, I'm sure the team won't officially declare her out (if she in fact is) for the season until after selection Sunday. Believe ND withheld that info for Mabry last season and they ended up with a 3 seed.
This feels kind of wrong, but I get it.
Conversely if she's likely to return in time for the NCAA tournament but they plan to hold her out for the ACC tournament, I would think they would call her 'day to day' just to make other teams in the ACC game plan that she might be back
