LET'S GO...

I seldom speak to loluva grads, but when I do, I tell them I want large fries.

HOKIES!

HOKIES up 16-11 end of 1st qtr. Ekh 4 for 4, 9 points.

These inside passes have been 90% turnovers

Ekh having a game.

My wife takes the kids and leaves the house while I watch my Hokie games.........nuff said

The good... HOKIES lead 32 - 25 at the half. Ekh, 6 for 6, 13 points. Micheaux, 9 rebounds.

The bad... Micheaux and Peterson, both with 2 fouls

The ugly... 12, count 'em, 12 turnovers! Yikes!

Hulu sucks. Cannot log-in on the mac. Keeps saying location must be enabled, so I enabled, does not help. Having to watch on the phone.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

Micheaux = double-double
11 points, 10 rebounds.
4:33 to go in the 3rd Qtr.
Way to go Rose!

3rd Qtr making me think I am watching the men's team. Turnovers and scoring drought.

My fault, I had to leave for work.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

MacKenzie Nelson helping to get the Hokies back in front. Last two minutes was big for getting the lead reestablished

47 - 40 HOKIES, end of 3rd.

Did not attempt a three the entire 3rd Quarter. Lot lower scoring than I expected

Need to keep feeding Micheaux inside. May create some kick-outs for Ekh. And for Baker, who has been quiet.

What a bullshit sequence. Clardy clocks Nelson and nothing

No way that was a block on Baker's shot. Defender had her arm across both of Bakers arms

Can't believe they keep letting Clardy do whatever she wants. Force someone else to score.

Why is Nelson not in!? So much better handles than Wenzel. Better passes and can probably make a layup

I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them!

It worked out but why wait to foul until their best free throw shooter got the ball

Micheaux never touched that ball out of bounds and ball did not go out of bounds

What the f was Wenzel doing there holding the ball? So tired of her bone headed mistakes

Welp. Don't deserve to win with 22 turnovers

I keep wonder if Duffy is trying to let Carleigh play her way out of her mistakes. The problem is she gets worse and worse.

Carleigh is good if she only has 3-4 bad passes, we didn't have good Carleigh tonight. She needs to stay in practice until she can hit fifty layups.

Stanford watched film. They hacked Baker every time she went near the basket and the refs hardly called anything.

I can't believe the refs we get week after week. What is a charge on one end is a blocking foul on the other.

Yeah pretty tired of it whatever the reason.

MacKenzie Nelson controls the ball better and actually seems to keep them at a better pace on offense.

so many lazy, telegraphed passes

I caught basically the last 6 min of the game and watched a series of dumb mistakes and saw the 20+ turnovers stat and realized why they lost this one. can't be that sloppy and win many games.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

I caught the 4th quarter and wowwww that was rough. Way too many unforced turnovers and missed layups. Wenzel especially did not have a good night.

that phantom "and 1" on the "blocking foul" was a big swing, but tbh I think we lose this one anyway because of turnovers

Danny is always open

The big swing was us thinking we had a basket and one opportunity that the refs waived off saying it was a foul on the floor despite the fact she was shooting. Then we lost the inbounds... So two/three points turned into nothing.

I haven't watched the game yet, recorded it because I'm still on oxy post knee replacement and I'm done by 9.
Reading the comments, I expected to see a big difference in fouls called against us, but it seems they got called for 5 more fouls than we did. I know we're all homers here, and my record for yelling at refs was set back in the Lenny Wirtz days when I made an ass of myself up close and personal at home games, but reading the recaps, and it was discussed here as well, it's pretty clear the refs didn't steal the game from us. 22 turnovers will kill any team, and free throws and layups missed are correctable problems, right? Also, teams that get frazzled and try too hard foul more often. My point here is, every game, every single one men's and women's, this board fills with gripes about the fouls and the refs as if we're being cheated every single game, by the stripes. Yep, they miss calls, but honestly, do you guys really feel like the refs are against us and for the other teams? Are we losing games because of the refs? I'll watch today and maybe I'll agree, but I must admit that it gets a bit tiring griping about the refs when we start playing like crap, which is when I'd expect us to be fouling more anyway. Turnovers, missed layups and foul shots are losing games for us, men and women, not the stripes, in my opinion. Having watched hundreds of Hokie bball games, I've come to believe that reffing a college basketball game has to be one of the hardest jobs in sports, with fouls as common to play as holding on a football offensive line, with no way to call them all. I still yell at them, but I can't blame them for our losses.
I know we need to vent, and this is a safe place to do so, but frankly, it gets tiring.

Reel men fish on Wednesdays

Yeah the ref complaining is silly IMO. I'd much rather complain about say, our inability to inbound the basketball without turning it over lol. Any good team with solid fundamentals can overcome refs who miss a bunch of calls.

There were some egregiously bad calls and calls were if the refs were consistent it would be easier on the players. But I would gamble that both teams think they are bad calls in the same game.

Turnovers were bad, so was our inability to inbound the ball against the press several times. Baker is very hesitant inbounding against pressure. They need to have Carleigh, Rose, Mathilda, or Peterson just hum it to near midcourt.

Duffy's reliance on White and Wenzel when Nelson was playing better on offense was also a little shocking.

The biggest issue on no calls was hands on players on the perimeter without calls, especially around screens. They consistently let Stanford have hands on the player possessing the ball which led to a high number of the turnovers.

It was a bad game any way you slice it. My main complaint on Duffy in this one is as stated above, it was clear Nelson had IT last night but she went away from that.
The other issue was Rose was killing them when she got the ball down low and the entire 4th quarter they kept having Rose set the screens up top or receive passes at the free throw line which is too far out for her most times. They went away from the two things that were working.

Going away from Rose down low also meant Stanford could keep someone on Tilly, who had a huge first half but was quiet the second because she wasn't getting open looks.

We gave that game away, but what sucks the most is that the fans in attendance didn't even get free bacon with that late-game double free throw miss!

"Yes I am going to have favorites. My favorites are high production and low maintenance players, coaches, and staff." - JMFF

Girls don't get bacon, we get free sausage biscuits from Bojangles with a score of 75 or more. So third? game this year we have ended with 74...

Prime example of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. They dominated the 4th Q to get it to OT.

We just fumbled it away
