Apparently the trend towards General Managers is moving into mens basketball.
UNC is hiring Jim Tanner, a longtime NBA Agent to be the GM. It does not sound like he will stop being an agent and owner of Tandem Sports and Entertainment which would seem like a major conflict of interest.

For those who don't know, Tanner is a legend in the industry. Moorehead-Cain scholar at UNC, studied under President Obama while at UofC, became a partner at Williams & Connolly (one of the most prestigious law firms in the world) and was the agent for Tim Duncan, Grant HIll, Jeremy Lin and a slew of other NBA players.
Should be a slam dunk hire (no pun intended) for UNC.
Beating Clemson is more important than life itself. It's about time Carolina got their priorities straight. It's been a few years wince they won a natty, which is a crime.
Is his job to fight Belichick for donor money?
But there's no regulations in college sports so why not? Seriously, though, with player salaries it seems like a no-brainer for all football and men's and women's basketball programs to have GMs.
Hubert Davis needs someone to be able to buy the best players as he not exactly setting the world on fire with his players and hasn't shown much ability to coach them up.
He admitted it in a quote in the article
