Hokies had another 2-2 week with some fireworks Saturday night that went fizzle instead of sizzle on Sunday.
Tonight Hokies are at VCU at 530pm on ESPN+.
This weekend they head to Duke (28-14) in a very important series for ACC seeding. Hokies have dropped to a tie for 10th in ACC Standings at 10-11. A winning sweep could vault the Hokies as high as 6th but a series loss could put them one step closer to not even making ACC tourney.
Notre Dame is first team out at 7-14.

Nice to pick up a win and hopefully some momentum going into the weekend series. I'm pretty sure that the ACC tournament format has changed for this year and all 16 teams will compete. The top 4 get a double bye straight to the quarterfinals, 5-8 a bye into the 2nd round. It will be single elimination with no more pool play. But, to your point, would be nice to get into one of the single bye seeds to need one less game to win it all.
Tried looking it up on ACC Baseball page but that has 2023 Promotions Schedule and 2024 Championship schedule with nothing from 2025. ACC work at its finest.
NCAA.com confirmed you are correct. Still need a sweep to have a shot at a first round bye and honestly need to win all remaining series to make NCAA Tourney most likely.
I know softball has moved to a 12 team format also single elimination.
our quad 1 wins say something, but just glancing at our W-L record without context paints a grim post-season picture for us beyond the ACC tournament. 14 games left... not saying we're going to win everything, but a 40-15 record would sure look a hell of a lot better than 33-22. Looking back at our previous NCAA appearances the 40-win mark seems to be about what we need to get in. I have zero confidence that any baseball team can go on a streak like that, so we're gonna have to go very deep in to the ACCT to have a chance I think.
