Notable changes - The hokiestone pattern around the sideline has been removed and the orange border placed around it all where it used to be stained wood before. The wordmarks have changed from orange to white, and the buildings have been removed from the playing surface.

It bothered me so much that the buildings used to cross the three point line. I would have been fine keeping them if they just resized them or put them in the outside border but this is good too. Still think it would be cool if the lanes were Hokie stone patterned though
The maroons is actually right this time.
Its looks awfully brown to me but could be worse.
It's because your eyes have become so used to the purple "maroon" they switched to around the same time as the new university branding.
i like this a lot more than the previous design. Having one building on the court would have been fine, but all three looked sort of sloppy to me.
It reminded me of something I would have done as a kid if I had the opportunity to design the court in a video game.
One thing....
If we can have the walls painted white with maroon and orange borders on the top in Cassell, why the fuck can we not do the same in Lane!

I actually don't like the additional orange border and I would have liked to see the subtle Hokie Stone stay in the border. My guess is once the scorer's table, chairs, etc. are our on the floor, the orange will be much less noticable.
This looks very nice. This is something that should be updated every 5 years or so.
Also agree that the Lane Stadium walls need to be refurbished.
Its an improvement for sure.
While seeing the campus buildings was kind of nostalgic, it was very distracting when trying to watch on TV.
Some incorporation of Hokiestone would have been fine but its much cleaner look overall 👍🏻
Two priorities left:
-get rid of the generic, boring "VT" jerseys...the orange is much better and can stay
-upgrade/renovate Cassell, although I think that project may already be DOA
Yeah. So I didn't mind the campus buildings when watching a game in person, but they didn't look great on TV
Given that Whit has a meeting with the BOV next week that is essentially "do you all even care about athletics", let's just say my expectations for the future of Cassell couldn't be any lower.
Definitely an improvement over the junked up look we had. I just never liked the buildings, in particular. I'd say this is just right.
