The last time a team tried to win 3 titles in a row

I know everyone is expecting Alabama to win a 3rd straight title. I get it. Let's look at the last time a team was in a position to do this.

In 1996, Nebraska won the past 2 national titles, and had a 25 game win streak going into the season. Everyone who watched college sports expected them to keep winning and get a third straight title then too. In the second game of the season, they entered Sun Devil Stadium to play a team that that was 6-5 the year before. I witnessed one of the greatest Arizona State victories that day when ASU smashed Nebraska 19-0. That's an odd score. I was 9 and learned what a safety was, there were 3 in that game.

Any Hokie fan that doubts Tech can do it on August 31st should just take a minute to think about this.

Thanks everyone, now I've been sidetracked during work. Just been watching the best inspirational sports speeches. Miracle wins in a landslide by the way. U-S-A! Can't wait for Olympic hockey next year. We beat 'em in America and now we'll beat 'em in Russia.

Bama started winning titles when they beat us in 2009, so it's Tech's responsibility to end Bama's title run in 2013. We started it, now we finish it.
