FSU Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt taking over DC duties at Georgia

This opens up an extremely desirable DC spot at FSU.

The Coaching Carousel is spinning faster....

It is an extremely desirable spot. I think Bud Foster stays.

Question is...if you're the top ACC team looking for a defensive coordinator...you'd at least interview the guy who has consistently been the best DC in the entire conference for the past 10 years, right?

I do think you interview him. But I just can't see Bud leaving for another DC job when he's already turned down at least UGA.

Interesting move for him. Coming off a title and having the stable of players at FSU. He has to compete with much better offenses in the SEC and if his stats slip he could be in for rude awakening. Makes me think with Jimbo not going anywhere and Reicht on the hot-seat every single year; that he just wants to ride shotgun with a guy who is always coaching for his job and hoping that he leaves.

Not that surprising of a move. He got $300k raise and gets to move to a nicer town (opinion) while keeping the same job. Assuming he has no overwhelming loyalty to Jimbo, what's not to like?

Don't forget that Bud gets and $800,000 check in the form of a retention bonus if he's still the Hokies' DC come January 1, 2015. I think he stays.

while I agree that that'll definitely help keep him around, UGA just offered the FSU DC $850,000 PER YEAR!

It was a catch

I thought I saw on the news a person was spotted running naked through FSU's campus , wearing notihng but a championship ring and chantting like a maniac.

"ooooohhhooooohhooooooooohh...ooooohh..ooohh..oooh"

Only problem I have with this logic is that there will surely be other marquee DC jobs open next year or the year after, or the year after that. Taking a $1M salary vs. Bud's about $600K salary, it takes 2 years for the other position to break even when you add the $800K to his current salary. He'll stay for a year at least, hopefully two, and maybe then he'll get a raise. Hopefully.

I hope that made sense...

That $800,000 is our 'coach-in-waiting' insurance policy.

Hey, you could find a lot worse than Bud Foster to take over for Beamer. Promote Torrian Gray to DC and call it a day. What to do with Shane though...

Honestly, I do too.
I think he's potentially the next great coach.
He's already proved himself recruiting-wise.

Any commits going to flip from FSU to VT?

The Dude Abides

I'd say not a chance, unfortunately.

Only real commit contested between the two of us at this point is on the offensive side of the ball with Harrison at WR.

Can't hurt with Nnadi...then again, who knows how the coaching carousel ultimately plays out.

Pruitt was only at FSU for a year, his recruiting impact was probably pretty minimal.

Apparently he is a very strong recruiter...look what our staff has done in a year recruiting wise

Sean

If Pruitt was only at FSU for a year, though, it will be almost impossible to measure the impact of his recruits until the end of '14, or more realistically '15.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

I just want to know what Coach Rush Probst thinks of all this...

That means the Noles will have had Three different Defensive Coordinators in Three Years.

I think FSU should bring Al Groh out of retirement. Notice he too wants to beat Georgia!

And we are upset about losing our OL coach! Pruitt has coached on three straight NC teams. DC for only one year. He was a Bama secondary coach for three years prior to F$U. Have to think he was more the beneficiary of good recruiting rather than coaching, but who knows?

#Let's Go - Hokies

Lets just say that in the long run this could help Florida State more than hurt them. While Pruitt was an excellent coach he was apparently playing with fire when he wasnt working. They may have dodged a bullet on this one.

what does that mean?

gotcha, sleeping around, fiance said he had to move or she's out. Going to UGA. That should work out fine.

Yeah im not really sure how Athens is any better. But whatever.
