It's not official Hokie gear (although they are great for dorm rooms ... and sweeping football rivalries of our most loathed in state opponents hoo shall remain nameless / winless)

It got me thinking... they make HOKIE brand items for almost every product imaginable...

POLL: What is the most HOKIE thing you own or would like to own? ... or share HOKIE merchandise that is simply worth mentioning.

I have so much Hokie stuff but I'd have to say my most Hokie things, in no order, are:
-Worsham field rug (I love that thing)
-my degree in a orange/maroon custom frame
-my VT chest my dad bought and painted for me before my freshman year (it was blue and ugly, now it's o&m with a big VT on top and beautiful. I still own it and use it)
-my Frank Beamer signed football in my avi

I would like to own a commemorative photo celebrating the Hokies national championship... one day.

Here it is in all it's glory, via my instagram (the VT chest I mentioned can be seen, barely, in the bottom left corner)

i have all the usual stuff (clothes, wall hangings, chrome vt on my bumper) but one of my favorites is my frank beamer bobblehead right here at my work desk. coworkers have pointed out that i type so hard sometimes frank's head gets going. i also have a signed white vt football just like 757's only i got tyrod, bryan randall, and both vick brothers to sign it.

"That kid you're talking to right there, I think he played his nuts off! And you can quote me on that shit!" -Bud Foster

1. Mini VT Football Helmet signed by Tyrod with 2010 ACC POY in the signature.
2. Hokiebird driver cover.
3. O&M striped socks, to rock with my orange chuck t's;
4. VT mini helmet koozie - bought them for my entire extended family a few years back for our tailgates. They're awesome.

I have VT socks too, I love to wear them with my o&m Lebrons. I guess I can add the shoes to my list too, I love them and always get compliments on them when I go back to blacksburg

those are sweet where'd you get them?

Our motto bringing spirit true, that we may ever serve you

I don't remember where I got them, it was one of the online sneaker stores but I forget which one. You should be able to find them online by googling "Lebron 9 low chilling red" (they're classified as red but they're pretty maroon in person).

I go with what I refer to as "Hokie Gumps" myself.

Hokie Gumps

I've got these:
Air max

I also have a pair of white Air Force Ones with maroon/orange accents, as well as maroon/orange Vans.

I'm here for the memes, I just stay for the football.

I have the same shoes except the grey suede piece is maroon on mine. I wear them to every VT game and plan to have them forever. If they ever get too beat up to wear anymore, I will give them a proper burial.

O&M VT Fuzzy Dice for the car

@vtscottyb

Non-Hokie Hokie gear: Mountain Hardwear this year decided to do a bunch of their jackets in... well basically orange and maroon. I bought three different types -a water proof, an insulated-fill and a 'tweener. LOVE rocking them down in the ATL as an understated way of supporting VT. Go check 'em out.

"...sticks and stones may break my bones but I'm gonna kick you repeatedly in the balls Gardoki!"

Just bought one for my wife for her birthday.
Nice jackets.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I have Hokie golf club grips - highly recommended: http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&sa=N&biw=1344&bih=654&hl=en&tbm=isch&t...

My favorite HOKIES thing I ever owned was a Turkey-call, which suspiciously resembled
(and doubled as) a martital aid device. Had it for about 10 years before my dog chewed it up.

I didnt think to post a picture of it at the time, but my christmas tree is literally nothing but Tech stuff. White lights and no other colors other than Orange and Maroon

I guess I should start listening to my wife when she says I can't have any more VT stuff. I already have a designated VT tree...

I, like most of you, have tons of Hokie gear in my collection. But, my most eclectic (and one of my favorite items) is a VT dustpan. Its made out of a VT license plate (boom) and I like to tell people its for "sweeping up the competition!"

I got Tyrod, Kam and DmfW to sign a ball for me, and have a photo with them. It was one of the bookstore sessions a year or so ago at the spring game.

It was a catch

wow, that photo was way bigger than I thought... I'm going to try and scale it down... my bad.

It was a catch

If anything it needs to be scaled up, you can't fit that much awesome on one picture

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

haha, scaled down already. It was massive before.

It was a catch

My favorite VT thing has a story with it (Some of you on here should know this)

This is a paperweight the MVs got back in 2009 (my freshman year). If you remember, we opened the season (like this year) against Alabama down in Atlanta. The MVs, however, opened our season the day before, at Lakeside High School in Augusta, Georgia. Lakeside has an alumni named Ryan Clark, who was a baritone player (as I am, if you're curious what a baritone is look at my picture), in the MVs, and a Hokie who went to Heaven on 4/16.

My first ever college marching band performance was at Lakeside, to honor Ryan Clark, as an 18 year old in front of a bunch of high schoolers who treated us like celebrities, despite me myself being a high school kid just 4 months ago. The place was packed, it was an awesome environment, and an incredible moment, especially for us 'Tones,' as we call ourselves, who got to perform in one of the most touching moments I've ever experienced; an opening solo of "Amazing Grace" - only baritones.

Long story short, a brain surgeon who happened to be in attendance at that game was moved by what we do (of all people, someone who performs surgery on people's brains to save their lives), and decided to help support the MVs in their mission of living out Ut Prosim. He donated an entirely new set of trumpets for the trumpet section (no small price tag, believe me), and then at the end of the year presented every MV with that paperweight in the picture.

To me, that paperweight always reminds me what it really means to be a Hokie, the embodiment of Ut Prosim.

**PS: MVs on here who were there, if you can remember the guys name (or any details I missed/may have messed up) let me know. My brain is fuzzy from midterm cramming.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

That was my sophomore year. I loved the trip to Stack's high school. I believe mine is still in its box at home, I wanted to keep it as scratch free as possible. From what I remember, the donor tried to remain annonymous as long as possible. Those new trumpets he got us were great

"The Big Ten is always using excuses to cancel games with us. First Wisconsin. Then Wisconsin. After that, Wisconsin. The subsequent cancellation with Wisconsin comes to mind too. Now Penn State. What's next? Wisconsin?" -HorseOnATreadmill

Can't remember the doctors name, but those trumpets were real nice. Money donated went towards the trumpets, the paperweights, and our end of year catered banquet which was much nicer than the typical year. Good man. I was fortunate enough to play on one of those for 2 years although my second year was a special one donated for the loss of another mv trumpet to a deadly disease.

Looked like this:

He's no good to me dead.

Hey question: how can I post this pick on a forum topic I'm trying to create please?

His name was Dr. Pallas. My daughter played on one of those trumpets for 5 years and her paperweight is still in the box also!

My HS baseball team all decided to wear matching VT hats for our first game after 4/16. That one is for display purposes only now for me.

@vtscottyb

My favorite is an autographed football from big Beamer with "Thank you for your service". My buddies got it for me after my last trip from AFG as a gift for being the best man in a wedding.

"War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.”~~Judge Holden

That is a great wedding gift. And thank you for your service.

I have assorted hoodies, a throw blanket, and a few T-shirts I got for free, one of which was my ring ceremony shirt that they just handed out to all the then-juniors.

I need more stuff. So does my daughter, actually. She doesn't have anything Hokie except her parents.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

My favorites are my pencil tray made from the wood that used to be the seats at Miles Stadium (the one before Lane) with a note from former President Thomas Marshall Hahn (I posted it on another thread a while back), a Hokie Stone, and a program/posters autographed by Mike Vick, Kevin Jones and Lee Suggs (courtesy of one of the HokieJoe##s that frequents this site). I'm also a real big fan of my VT coffee mug.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

I can't upload images from my work computer so I'll try to get some pics uploaded this evening....but

I built and painted a corn-hole set

and I made a picture frame with a VT on top and painted it...that's currently in NOVa with my gf but I'll try to get a picture of it later

Onward and upward

I'd be interested in seeing pictures of the corn hole set. I made a set over the summer, but I still haven't painted them. Looking for some inspiration. Actually if anyone has any suggestions for an original hokie-themed design, I'm all ears.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

When I made mine, I made one maroon and one orange with a VT in the middle of the board and "HOKIES" at the top above the hole in the opposite color. Simple and effective.

ears, corn - I almost got it.

I Like the pic

Commonwealth Cup Champions since Sat, Nov 27, 2004 at 4:05:00 PM EST

This is a set I made and painted over the summer before the Bama game. Pretty proud of them for my first set. Ignore that the holes are a little botched.

Cornhole

Very nice. It was a good idea to go with something light like that splatter outline of VA and VT over top of the real wood. Can't even tell the holes are off.

Considered putting a little middle finger where Charlottesville would be on the VA outline board.

Heyyyy... I played a couple games of cornhole on these boards back in August. At least I think I did. My memory's a little fuzzy after one or two cups of Skippy. ;)

Did you use any varnish or polyurethane? It seems like some kind of protective coating would be a good idea, but I was kind of worried polyurethane would make them too slick.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

I did not. I just used a high gloss acrylic paint from Lowes. We used several coats of paint though. It could still use a little touch-up but they work pretty well. The first few times we used them the bags stuck too well for two reasons; The board was tacky and the bags were brand new (I bought them, didn't make them) and needed to be broken in. After several uses it became more challenging. Over time the bags got broken in and a layer of dust settled on the boards making them more slick. I had a friend who made some boards and they put polyurethane on them and they're way way too slick

Onward and upward

That's what I was afraid of :/ The only other woodworking project I've done was refurbishing an electric guitar several years ago and I used a polyurethane finish for that. I had a hunch it'd be too slick for corn hole. Thanks for the info!

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

When I did mine, the instructions I followed suggested using some special coating, but the stuff would have cost about $150 to coat the entire board. It's some thick substance similar to polyurethane that gives it that glossy coat without making it too slick. I just used spray paint on mine and sanded it as smooth as I could. As VPIhokieME said, the first several uses, the board was tacky but it broke in nicely. One of the best investments I made with those things was a set of LED lights for the hole. Now I can play before and after the Thursday night games.

For my set I just put a couple of coats of a clear coat on them to make them look a little more sleek. Like the other guys, tacky at first but once that stuff got fully dry and I used the boards a little more, they got pretty slick.

I made these a few years back.

My parents (Classes of '79 and '83) turned my room into a shrine when I moved out. Tech fabric turned into curtains, orange and maroon walls (opposite sides match), collectibles, and the entire vt bedset with pillow cases, sheets, comforter. I myself still have a mesh hokie comforter at my own place. Obviously I'm still single...

@vtscottyb

I don't understand. How are you still single? Do you not open with "Hey check out this picture of my bed spread."

And then follow with "Don't act like you're not impressed"

Just meant I assume no wife would allow that. Not enough flowers.

@vtscottyb

This made me cry a little bit as my current bedspread (I am married) has flowers on it. And no, it is not a picture of Brandon Flowers as one might hope.

I would totally prefer a VT bedspread over flowers any day...and I am a woman. LOL

To be honest, I'm a little disappointed with some of these responses. I would expect more from most of you. My favorites items I have are:
Signed VT hat by Brandon Flowers, Vince Hall, Eddie Royal, and Macho Harris.
Cam Martin's Maroon Jersey with the Hokie Remembrance Patch.
Hokie Bird Statue.
The coffee table I made myself when I was in college painted orange and maroon with a fighting gobbler. (I recommend this for current students, stopped many girls that were walking past my dorm room)
Lock of Tyrod's Hair (no not really)

Get out there and get some more hokie stuff, there is plenty to go around.

Didnt mean to let you down ...
I have a classic VT hat signed by "Vaughn Hebron #4" during his rookie season with the Eagles.

Welcome to the Man Cave Wahoo Processing Center

This is what is across from me on the Wahoo Processing Center

The Wahoo Processing Center

The shelf to the right of the Wahoo Processing Center. The painting in the center my wife commissioned an artist up here in Nova to do for one of my birthdays. Probably my favorite Tech item.

Tech License plates fill the stripe on the wall of the bathroom almost all the way around.

That's the shower curtain, there are of course towels and other items that go with this.

My license plate on my #allmarooneverything Jeep, may it Rest In Peace (Died January 19th, 2014)

This is just the bathroom and the car. There are a ton of other items all over my house and walls. The best item other than the painting is a cadet sabre from a cadet in 1941, Hubert Taylor Potts, that I obtained in an auction, and have put on loan to the Corps of Cadets for a senior who cant afford to purchase a saber to use during their senior year.

Hopefully this response is more to your expectations.

Actually, what you did was create art masterpieces.

Apparently I am in need of more Hokie stuff...I thought I had plenty but compared to you
guys I really don't have much at all. When I have my own house I am turning my
basement into a Hokie cave...one of these days...

@AMB4VT

Either that or today is a wake up call for me that I have a Hokie Problem.

Hope you get that hokie basement soon. I'm looking for a piece of limestone to mount to the stairs heading down to my hokie basement like the tunnel at Lane.

I would say your "Hokie problem" is a good problem. The Hokie stone is the first thing I want

My most favorite Hokie gear is a piece of paper. That piece of paper states that I was granted a degree from the greatest University in history. I am so proud to call myself a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. It is such an amazing place and I am honored to have had the opportunity to attend it. It is a place that has instilled so much pride in everyone that is associated with it. You could be walking down the streets of Philadelphia and see someone with a VT proudly displayed know that there is a connection, not only with that person but with the town in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains that we both called home. I am so honored to have joined such a loving and welcoming community.

Lived in Pritchard my freshman year in '07-'08. On the 7th floor, or as we liked to call it, the penthouse suites. Being 30 yards away from DX was a plus.

I'll always remember the one night, around midnight, when I was walking over to DX and there was a group of guys sitting on the wall and the benches outside D2/DX. They had a couple guitars, a banjo, a fiddle, and some small drum. Just picking away and having a good time. I probably sat out there and listened for a half hour or so. It was one of those "I'm at such a diverse and incredible school right now. Best decision ever." moments my freshman year.

"Virginia Tech: Our trees have more school spirit than your students."

I have only a few Hokie things. I'm not real big on memorabilia. None of the shirts fit, they only have two arms and I have four legs

- VT gloves, which are beat and need to be tossed
- HorseOnATreadmill t-shirt. Technically a keyplay item, but it counts. Various other tshirts

That spatula sets an unrealistic expectation for all the grillmasters out there. Not everyone can have a handle like that. I bet if you showed a regular spatula with those proportions, you'd see how idealized it is.

I thought it was larger to handle grilling horsemeat.

You just made my list.

Oh I am on plenty of those. Someone will likely get to me before you. Do remember however that one of your breathren carries our wayward rivals onto the field each and every game, and thus far has only deposited him on the field once that I can recall. Said brother would make a fine choice for this spatula's grilling partner.

Why do you think that happened? Me and him are in cahoots. Let the barnyard underground do its work

This isn't even a meme, it's a live video with closed captioning.

Besides having about 2 dozen vt shirts, 1/2 doz hoodies, a hat, a few pairs of sweatpants/short, I also have vt pillows, play cards, shotglass, a stuffed hokie bird that I use as xmas tree topper, a bottle coozie, an orange and maroon paracord bracelet, and lots of other accessories in orange and maroon. I can't bring myself to get an orange and maroon purse (seems slightly tacky) but I will rock a maroon scarf or an orange skirt.

We had a Hokie wedding. Everything was maroon and orange. My wedding gift to my husband was an autographed David Wilson mini helmet. Our office is Hokie themed (no pics now as everything is in storage), complete with our his and hers diplomas. We each have jerseys, dozens of t-shirts, and we started a VT ornament collection while in the Outer Banks (they have tons of Tech gear in the many Christmas stores). I have several pieces of Hokie Stone that found their way into my car. One of my sorority sisters got us this as our wedding gift. It's from Blacksburg Art on Etsy.

Last summer a fellow Hokie and I decided to build some cornhole boards.

At the Sun Bowl viewing party at Wilson Tavern, someone was wearing a white VT track jacket with the vintage logo. I have been looking for it ever since...

Painted this hardhat for Saturdays in Lane.

Does anyone know where to get spray paint that matches or closely matches our colors?

Not spray paint, but The Home Depot sells Glidden Team Colors paint that matches.

The reason I was looking for spray paint:

I want to see the rest of the slab wood thing. Is it a rack, bench? Good job on the tie dye paint job.

Thanks. I just sat it on there for a picture. It's a cedar bench a friend of mine built. I'll see if he can send me a picture of it.

Here's a couple pictures

NICE!!! Those would look great on the porch of a cabin.

I have 2 kids younger than this thread.

I am surprised you were able to have kids with as much time as you spend on here πŸ˜‰

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

I can't find any SFW gifs to answer you back.

I would about die if I could find a Hokie mini fridge.

No REAL Hokie uses a "mini"-fridge for their beer.

That gatorade is taking up some valuable space.

Naw that's smart thinking gotta stay hydrated. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to keep pounding.

The most Hokie thing I own is a 1919 VPI Bugle. It is a WWI edition Bugle, commemorating Hokies that served and died in WWI.

Very cool.

I have 6 team issued helmets. I also have two 45lb weight plates that I believe came from McComas before they replaced them with the rubberized ones. The VT and HOKIES are cast into the iron, which is pretty awesome. I just need to repaint them.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

My wife and I are both Hokies so pretty much everything we own has a VT on it. One of the more unique things (I think) were our wedding cake toppers.

My wife and I got the same one! Too bad we accidentally forgot to bring it to the reception. At least that way it didn't get destroyed/lost.
