I'm not seeing the tweet...
Good, they come get they whoppin!
Nice!!!! Friday night lights!
Turkey leftovers while we eat the hoo's lunch. Works for me

VT. At Home. Vs. UVA. At Night.
Exit Light, Enter Night.
Welcome to the Terror Dome.
3 words... ALL. MAROON. EVERYTHING. Do it.
Nice, I figured we had a good shot. The only other game from a big 5 conference that day that doesn't have a TV time already is Nebraska @ Iowa.
Other possible drawback is that we will be playing at the same time as any potential high school recruits in the first round of the playoffs. As a fan, I'll take the night game though!
Did we have a single home night game last year? No. We already have two for next year!!!
well miami was a night game.... but it wasnt at home.
I honestly cannot remember the last time VT-UVa was a legitimate night game
I honestly cannot remember the last time uva and legitimate were in the same sentence.
I can, I use it all the time
"UVa is legitimately the worst team in college football"
I feel like that's being a little too kind for them.
Black Uniforms maybe??? hmmmmm
I'm biased I know
holy shit that ended up being a lot bigger than I expected
...
...
giggity
That's what she said!
(Can't post Michael Scott gif from iphone. But you get the idea.)
If UVa wants to wear black uniforms, then all the better. We'll do well if we stick to wearing uniforms that are actually our school colors. All maroon actually works, whereas black, gray, digitized, camo, any other silliness - do not. Oh yeah, orange for trim only. No orange pants or jerseys. EVER.
I hate to break it to you, but orange IS one of our school colors. Now I'm not saying I like the orange jerseys, I don't, but I don't think orange should be limited to just the trim
Yup.... We're not Texas A&M and we're not Mississippi St, so I don't get this overwhelming push to make ourselves look like them.
I think it's mainly our performances wearing orange ex. Duke last season. I don't really mind the orange but I guess I see their side
No orange uniforms ever, never, ever again.
Thanks, Duke.
That and every single predominantly orange uniform that we've had has been an eyesore.
More than anything, we need Tim Gunn.
Exactly. I've got nothing against orange, I think it should be a noticeable part of our uniforms as it IS a school color. However, those Marshall game camo uniforms... come on. Those looked terrible (IMO) and those weren't even the worst orange-dominated uniforms I can remember.
Plus it annoys me that we never wear the correct shade of orange.
The 08-09 orange uniforms weren't so bad, IMO.
Better with maroon pants, but still.
I think you misspelled "were"
I'm with you, I liked those uniforms. In my mind the perfect uniform has an approximately 70/30 Maroon/Orange distribution, clashing as violently as possible. It's the most beautiful color combination in the world and anything black/white/grey is just wasted canvas.
You are right... these were pretty good
And you can hate on it all you want, but I also REALLY liked this look from 2011
See, our colors are Chicago maroon and burnt orange. Not maroon and traffic cone. That's what I don't like about this.
Traffic Cone Orange > Tennessee Vol VDOT Orange
That may be, but it's still not a school color.
You do understand why that is Tennessee's color right? It's so they can wear it while at the game on Saturday, while hunting Sunday, and while picking up trash on the side of the road Monday to Friday.
"Universal" Orange. Works for all occasions.
I did too. One of the best Orange combos we had.
I don't get this overwhelming push to make our uniforms a color that isn't one of our school colors.
If you're talking about aTm & MSecU, technically (and in actuality) our football program was started before theirs. Therefore, they've been copying our school colors the entire time.
Virginia Tech - 1892
ATm - 1894
MSecU - 1895
Burnt Orange and Chicago Maroon were not adopted as our school colors until 1896. Before then, we were Grey and Black
It looks like the Aggie maroon and white weren't adopted until 1925 via "The Spirit of Aggieland". Only State can make the claim (circa 1895).
Reading is fundamental. I never said orange wasn't a school color. I merely said it should be limited to trim for football uniforms. No jerseys of full orange, like Miami. No pants of full orange, like Miami. No helmets of orange, like way too many other schools. I LOVE orange trim. Just not orange as the primary color in jerseys or pants or helmets. As for those criticizing me for saying 'maroon everything', be aware I didn't intend for orange to be absent, only secondary. Maroon jerseys & pants with orange numbers & stripes looks great to me. Of course, those criticizing me for not having enough orange 'because it's also a school color' should rethink their support for black uniforms. Black is not a school color. Mirror time.
Well if you read everything I said, since it's fundamental, I also said that orange should be more than just trim as well. I'm all for #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING but I think it needs its limitations. It shouldn't be every game. Even with orange pants, orange can still remain a secondary color to maroon.
You mean orange pants like a copycat UofMiami? Or a copycat Clempson? Or a copycat Syracuse? Which copycat version of orange pants do you mean? EDIT - I also NEVER mentioned anything about EVERY game. Strawman argument, there.
so VT can't ever wear orange pants because other schools also have orange? or you mean our pants were literally copying other school's uniforms.
EDIT - Read your previous post. I don't follow your reasoning. Just because other teams have orange we can't wear orange. Doesn't follow. Just design it so that it is unique to VT. I don't associate Clemson's pants to Miami. So if they can make something that unique associates with them while other schools also use the same color then there is no reason why VT couldn't.
But I am in favor of all maroon with orange trim as our primary uniform.
I've always wanted to see us wear the orange pants with the maroon jerseys.
Is that really what burnt orange looks like? Not very subtle.
I don't understand how wearing orange pants means we're copying another school. By that logic wouldn't wearing maroon pants be copying aTm and Miss State?
No. It would only be a copy of MissSt (by approximately 1 yr).
Nah, we've worn maroon pants with white shirts for plenty of away games, back in '09 and '10 at least.
The only point I was making was that MissSt chose their maroon just one year before we did.
So if Clemson wears Orange pants, are they copying Syracuse, Miami, UVA, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, or any other school out there that has orange? There are only so many colors and not every color can be translated onto fabric for use in uniforms. So there will be some overlap of teams with the same color. We get that your preference is that we don't use only Orange for a piece of the uniform, but unfortunately for you, it will happen unless you have enough money in your back pocket to do something about it. Until that happens, learn to deal with the fact that we will have Orange pants for some games. We will wear Orange helmets for others. And sometimes, we will wear a predominantly orange jersey too. That's what happens when you have school colors that are orange AND maroon, not maroon WITH orange.
I find it interestingly ironic that there is so much blowback on the thought of 'only' orange trim using the 'school colors' rationale, while there is no blowback on all the enthusiastic chatter over wearing all black uniforms. or digitized uniforms. Or camo uniforms. Or gray uniforms. very interesting indeed. Waiting to hear that from the same parties...
No blowback on other uniforms? seriously, where have you been? Most people here lament the fact that we change uniforms so much that it's a running joke. I think you're taking the orange pants things a little too personally.
I think the only debatable one is black. Some people like them others don't. I personally am all for one Black Out night game per season. And one other specialized uniform during a season. Then all other games an all maroon uniform with orange trim.
Scan the rest of this thread if you don't see what I mean. Lots of support for black uni's, in case you need it detailed. Not exactly school colors.
And there has been significant pushback on the black unis in at least 3 other threads over the past several months. It goes back a long way. This whole uniform stuff gets really overblown.
Overblown, you say?

I'm fine with it. Really.
I have no problems with wearing black or gray when the school colors are integrated into them. They would never be a full-season uniform, but they are exciting for a single use game. Just as I fully support the camo uniforms that are used as a fundraiser for Wounded Warrior or other veteran support charity. There has to be a reason, not just to do it for the sake of doing it. If we showed up in gray or black when playing Western Michigan and it was just because it was in our wardrobe and we felt like wearing it, then yeah, that wouldn't make sense. But if you're playing say, oh I don't know let's say Ohio State, and it's a night game at home, then sure, go for something exciting. Break out Hokie Stone helmets. Wear black unis. The team isn't going out there and wearing Red and Blue. Also, for the record, gray and black can easily be traced back in our history to our original school colors so with that reasoning, I wouldn't have any complaints about it.
For what it's worth, I have friends who have literally dropped out of school because of the rumors about wearing black uniforms. My girlfriend, who is sleeping with one of the current players, told me all the players openly talk about how the prevalence of orange is the reason coach Grimes left.
I'm not sure who this is directed at, but my point is, it absolutely necessitates a heated argument. There is a uniform color scheme that everyone will unanimously endorse, and it's worth fighting for.
Either you're in to threeways or I hope you're not still dating her...
beat me to it.
plus friend who dropped out of school over a uniform... really? a tad overboard
Grimes left because of orange... really? more sad than your friend. I hope we destroy his OL someday
EDIT: Well played Bagman. Well played.
I think you all missed the /sarcastica in this.
No no no... let them continue... its more fun this way
without the /sarcastica font.. how are we suppose to know any differently? I'll bet you had no idea I just yelled that last question at you. But if I had said "HOW ARE WE SUPPOSE TO KNOW ANY DIFFERENTLY?!!?!?!?", you would have known from my caps lock and excessive punctuation.
Personally I derived it from the content and the fact that we've hashed out the uniform argument out countless times on here.
This part seemed particularly tongue in cheek as well as. I'm not trying to be a dick just not sure if that was a serious question or not.
If people drop out of school because of rumors regarding what the football team is wearing, there's not a lot anyone can do to help them that isn't a licensed counselor. And with regards to Grimes leaving because we wore orange, I'm gonna go ahead and call bullshit on that one. That's just too outlandish to even be close to factual in my opinion. Again, if you base your actions around what the football team wears, there are bigger issues going on that need to be addressed. Also, you may want to reevaluate your relationship if your girlfriend is also sleeping with one of the current players.
EDIT: I went ahead and pressed the "I BELIEVE" button regarding Petebuddy's comment given that there are people out there that are crazy enough to do things like this (see Updyke, Harvey). I'll see myself out for falling for it.

Lol. I'm surprised people believed that I have a girlfriend. As if!
But yeah literally nothing in my above comment is true.
This is directed to everyone who thought that the comment was real.
Shouldn't really matter to you though, since you're the resident Bag Man of TKP. I figured you'd be able to slip a few Bojangles coupons and half of a #5 from Sub Station under Whit's door and get this situation taken care of regardless of fan sentiment.
Philosoraptor: Aren't our white pants a copy of every team? (**ducks)
Fuck... I guess I forgot we aren't the only school that uses the color orange. Nevermind, I definitely don't want to be mistaken for one of those unoriginal pricks.
Clearly I'm not the only one who is disagreeing with you btw
Then you would've noticed from Alum's post that Black and Grey (until 1896) were Tech's first school colors.
lol yup
For the verbal freakout on here over the hypothesized use of black jerseys on Black Friday this year because OMG black isn't one of our colors.... True, black isn't one of our colors... at least not anymore. A black uniform would very much be considered going back to our roots, though, as it was one of our original colors, and as such, earns a pass from me. Same with the use of grey for our football and basketball unis last year.
So after 1897, they weren't. Or did you notice that?
I like the grey in these unis.
#BLACKOUTBLACKFRIDAYINTHEDARKUNDERTHELIGHTS
OK, too much. I just got super excited for a moment there.
GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME
Little less orange, little more #ALLMAROON with the black.
Whit did say traditional..However a nice clean Blackout like above with maroon lettering and piping would look orgasmic!
That uniform might be hard to track at night...
The Panthers and Ravens have no issues.
Not necessarily advocating black unis here... but I'm not violently opposed.
UVA's passing game will be violently opposed.
Well the stadium has lights.
Or maybe that's still too bright for a blackout....
Like it. Not often, but Black Friday and at night? Do it.
I want, nay...NEED this.
Yes to the bottom one (or right depending on computer), it's awesome. I don't like when the shoulder numbers are a different color.
ANYBODY FILLING THE TWITTERVERSE OR WHIT'S BOX (see what I did there?) WITH THESE?!?!
sorry for yelling...
Me likeee
I like these two
I normally never travel on Thanksgiving weekend due to terrible traffic. However, I will be in Blacksburg for this beatdown.
Excellent! This will leave me with enough time to stuff my face at Thanksgiving dinner out in CA, hop on a plane that night, get into Tech around noon, start the tailgate, and watch the Hokies beat UVA!
Exciting! BlackFriday beatdown. Let their losing streak going!
when's the last time it was in prime time in lane? 2000?
Yaaaaas. Now the world gets to see the insanity of lane!!!
Welcome to TKP!
Thanks!!!!
Welcome and have a leg!
Assuming I get OSU tickets, this will mean 4 night games in the same season....Columbus, Blacksburg (x2), and.....wait for it......Charlotte.
Get a ticket to Pitt and make it an even 5.
Mike London must be pumped, his coaching career just got extended by 8 hours.
That's hilarious. Have a leg
You of course are presuming he dosen't get fired sooner. I'm hoping they keep him around another 15-20 years- he's the gift that keeps our heads shaking and muttering silly stupid hoos
Whoop whoop!!!!! Vmi hokie be prepared to tailgate!!!!! A LOT
Hell yeah! That was my first thought when I read that it was a night game too! We'll work through details later, but I'm super jazzed!
This is fantastic news.
Honestly, though, how could this NOT be a night game? Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving? I can see the family fights happening if this game contends with some serious shopping because it's a noon game, or even early afternoon game.
Last home game as a student....at NIGHT
BOOOM
we hear what we want to hear
And this is why we shouldn't believe, or cite, everything we see on Twitter. This is regarding the original tweet, not Andy's follow-up.
Don't believe the Twitter, believe the Bitter.
I've got some unsettling news about Santa Claus too. You'd better sit down.
Did he get a hernia while lifting that boat I asked for?
No it was the philly that Horse requested....
well played Bitter, well played...
Bummer, this game being primetime is a double edged sword. I think UVa needs to be bowl eligible/playing for eligibility for this game to make primetime. A 2-9 UVa squad has a nooner written all over it. But as I said above, our only real competition is Nebraska @ Iowa and (maybe) USF-UCF.
So, what you're saying, is if we win a bunch of our games, beat anOSU, and by the time the end of November rolls around, we're ranked and getting ready to go to the ACC Championship game against Florida State, ESPN would NOT make it a night game because LOLUVA?
I think that's giving LOLUVA too much power.
when was the last time LSU or 'Bama played a primetime game against their in-state glorified high school team?
I don't remember that ever happening.
Side note: I would argue that some of the high school teams in Louisiana and Alabama are better than LOLUVA
Actually, it does. All the time. TSL did a great article about that earlier this year (haven't bothered to look for it just yet), which showed a bunch of SEC games in prime time that were a Bama or LSU against Kansas or Vanderbilt.
is that part of the contract with espn? i swear i read somewhere that X% of the prime time games shown across the 'family' of networks over the course of the season would be sec games.
It's probably due to CBS having first pick, and network rights. So no SEC on ABC. And no SEC games at 330 against CBS.
A nooner is a sure fire way to have half the stadium empty. I love Tech football as much as anyone on here, but family dinner on Thanksgiving trumps getting to the game reasonably before it starts every time.
Unless you're having it AT the game (pregame) via tailgate.
Some of us have to travel. And for some of us that involves a plane ticket. Or a long drive.
Although a night game in the Terror Dome would be cool, I'll take any time of day to beat UVA
With Tejas and aTm playing their games on Thursday, and CBS (2:30) ABC (3:30) and FOX (4:30) already showing Firday times (Yes, I know they can change...) I can see us at either noon or 7pm. Would love for the later!
If it's the later, I'll be ecstatic. If it's the earlier, I'll probably still be on a plane or in a car at kickoff :(
That dude looks like he needs a serious shot-o-Viagra.
