It was becoming the first team to beat Urban Meyer at Ohio State in the regular season, becoming the first unranked team since 1982 to go there and beat Ohio State, and you had it from a recruiting standpoint because there were a lot of big-time prospects there and the feedback we got after the game on the way to the airport was great. But it's also from a perception point -- it was so big. I'd be lying if I said we didn't hear any of the talk about how Va. Tech is descending or how our time had passed. That motivated our players, and I know how rewarding it was for (Frank Beamer). He's such a competitor at heart, and I knew he had a little extra juice last week."

-- The Hokies opened as 11.5-point favorites against East Carolina this week. The game at Lane Stadium is a noon start and will be televised by ESPN.

Same spread we had vs. OSU. This game is getting trappier and trappier by the minute.

After seeing player and coach interviews following the game, brief though they were, I'm confident they are plenty focused on ECU this week. This win was not a shock to them. They knew they were the better team in Columbus before the first kickoff and they played like it. Michael Brewer has turned this team into honorary members of the Blues Brothers.

Its certainly difficult to determine what our identity is when youre facing a team that is basically making you say, This is going to be your identity, Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman said.

Its what any good quarterback should do. Its like he never threw [the interceptions], fullback Sam Rogers said. He just gets back in there, has complete confidence and says, Im going to make a play. He looks everybody in the eyes and tells them were going to go score, and thats what he does.

this reminds me so much of Joe Montana and the famous John Candy story. Brewer is one of the coolest (under pressure) QBs I have ever seen. Sam Rogers is speaking the gospel and I am a fervid believer.
