After perusing through articles from Gobbler Country (SB Nation's Virginia Tech blog), I decided to see what type of articles our commonwealth counterparts were writing about their football team (which surprisingly still exists). After scanning through their blog SB Nation blog, of which half of it dealt with baseball and field hockey, I found a fascinating article that really grabbed my attention. The article talked about whether UVA fans would turn out for the ACC opening game against Louisville. Only 44,000 fans showed up for their premier season opener against highly ranked UCLA. Yes folks, that's almost 2/3 of their stadium capacity. Although it's not terribly shocking, it still surprised me that LOLUVA fans didn't even want to watch a game against a top 10 opponent regardless of how poorly their team plays. To make the article even more interesting, the Virginia Athletics Foundation director tweeted about his excitement over UVA's record season tickets sales in men's basketball 3 weeks into the football season. If you want a short read that sums up UVA's "football" program (I know it's certainly not news to any Hokie fan) and their outlook, I definitely recommend this read.

I hope Louisville brings a good number of fans to the game. Just to make the defeat that much more bitter for the Hoos that actually DO show up. LOL.
Louisville and football fans are somewhat laughable (granted not as laughable as LOLUVA or LOLWVU).
The only time Im interested in what LOLUVA is doing is when they are about to get dominated by the Hokies which has been the last 13 years.
TURN OUT FOR WHAT?
All I care about is beating them in November. Their defensive front is scary and Henry Coley is the best linebacker in the ACC.
Agreed on their DL. I knew Coley was good but I didn't realize he was best-in the-ACC good. Now I'm curious, where do see Clark ranking in the scheme of ACC LB's?
Deon Clarke has a shot to be special. He played lights out, I mean best-in-the-country good, against Ohio State and has a shot to keep that moving. If he is able to match production close to his Ohio State numbers, he will be one of the VT greats to go through the program.
They're good...but we're better.
I read one of the comments and they have season tickets for $145?? Are you kidding me? And they cant find a way to go to games??? SMH LOLUVA
Too many wine mixers in the fall.
Too many falls in the wine mixers.
You're women. How much for the women?
I'm not sure that they do. I was at the Ohio State game and had a great experience all around. The only negative moment came during the game when a UVA "fan" turned on a small group of Hokies sitting in my section and started yelling "Win something first! Do something in the ACC first". How delusional do these people have to be? VT has mostly owned the ACC until recently and we have most definitely owned UVA. I don't know what parallel universe these sad creatures come from.
He was talking about field hockey.
Yeah apparently the only sports that matters in the ACC according to UVA are lacrosse, soccer, tennis, field hockey, and baseball. What a joke
How have they been landing any of the state's top talent these last 3 years?
YOU!
My favorite part:
And by "last several seasons" they mean "last 11 seasons" right?
Lol. The LOLUVA fans are waiting for a tie sale.
Well Country Club Prep opened up right next to groun...er campus.
FTFY
I kind of enjoy when they do decent only to smash their hopes that much more. I mean I can't think of a better win that 2011. All the papers were saying this was UVA's year and blah blah blah and then we came out and blanked them 38-0.
