OT: Is There Anyone Who Will Be Playing Stump at their Tailgate on Saturday?

Just received a message from the Virginia Game Guy on Twitter. He's looking for a tailgate that will be playing Stump for his camera crew to film. You probably have seen him on the Virginia Lottery commercials and I'm pretty sure he's a Hokie grad too.

Here's his message:

So if you play Stump and want to be filmed and possibly on TV get in touch with the Game Guy. (@VAGameGuy)

Here's his website too: http://www.vagameguy.com/

And, if you're like me and had no idea what Stump is, here's a video: https://t.co/8xXxPX8voj

I don't have a big stump, but I sure as hell am going to be playing. I love that game!

awesome game. Learned this at the first Alabama-VT matchup in ATL.

ok so i was so confused at the title to this i had to read about it..... ive never seen this even being played, a log would fit in my truck better than my corn hole boards but i have a feeling id break my hand prior to the football game. is this game common? (god i feel like an old alumni when i ask that) ive yet to see anyone playing this at vt this year tailgating. but im sure with some whiskey and beer i could easily be talked into playing this. kinda want to grab a beer and play right now to test it out.

***Edit***
ok so after reading this post i grabbed a beer, log, hammer and nails. i was in our driveway flipping a hammer and drinking when my wife got home from work. she asked "what in the hell are you doing?" i said like she should know "im playing stump." she went inside grabbed a beer and we played til the hammer dropped and hit my ankle. im a fan of this game already, think im going to go perfect my skills.

tyrod did it mikey! tyrod did it!

This is Hilarious and made me laugh...Leg for you. The Hammer...it'll get after ya!

the hammer hurt like hell. this is a fun game though. corn hole is much safer.

I'm almost in tears from laughter after reading this. Absolutely hilarious!
You should get in touch with the Game Guy.

I've played it many a time while drunk at parties off campus. It's pretty fun and the more drunk you are the better you are at it oddly. I've also never hit my hand before either (maybe I have and I was just too drunk)

I love your spirit

I've played stump before at VT - a note of caution to anyone wearing flip flops and choosing to play- your toes are in the "drop hammer zone."

There are only a couple of times I've heard grown men scream like a girl - dropping a hammer claw side down on your little toe was one of them.

That video makes me feel like this....
There are some clear pauses between the flip and the hammering. Now who wants to take this next level and use a sledgehammer and railroad spikes?

Thats what I am talking about. Way to man up!

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

We would play this at the fraternity house when we were just hanging around a bonfire and just drinking a few. Only having a little firelight adds a little more excitement to the hammer toss.

So what you're saying is we should play football games... at night?

I agree.

Hokies.

we affectionately call it Hammerschloggin. it's a great drinking game. flesh wounds will occur.

haaaaaaammmerrrrrrrsccchloooooooooooginnnnnnnnnnnnnn! probably the most fun thing to yell while recklessly swinging a hammer, ever.

Love this game and especially the novelty of it all. Had a few OSU people wander over to our tailgate in Columbus to ask what the heck we were doing

I read this yesterday and immediately fell in love with the idea. Coincidentally, I'm heading back to the Burg this weekend for the first time in 2+ years to watch the ECU game, so the timing seemed perfect, and told myself I had to get this together. The biggest obstacle was finding a big enough stump in my non-rural area, which was no easy task after work with only two days left and a bunch of other errands to run.

Driving through a neighborhood last night, I was amazed to see a house that had just had trees removed, with a shit-ton of cut wood out front and a sign offering it to passerbys. I found the perfect stump and threw it into my trunk. God gave me a sign, and I obliged.

If anyone feels like taking up this divine calling, I will be in the Prices Fork lot behind a white Rav-4 early Saturday.

I passed along this info to my mining society's facebook page, when they said that there would be no stump...looks like they found one

Never heard of the game Stump.... But apparently its a pretty big thing. Googled 'Tailgating Stump' and this was the first image...

So I guess we're known for it?

I remember starting to see it at tailgates my last year at Tech
