Resilient youth

I know most of us are wondering how legit our offense really is a this point. Can we really run the ball when it counts? Can we keep our young defense fresh to help seal the game? Can we score tds in the rz? These are all questions that haunt our dreams game week. Remember this: our offense in the 4 th qtr in a hostile environment against the number 8 team who hadn't lost a home game to an unranked opponent in decades, with a beat up qb, answered the bell when in the past 5 seasons we would typically wilt. Who converted a crucial third and 1 running the ball and drove inside 20 on a rushing play and put the ball in the end zone. We drove the ball 65 yard on that drive in the 4th qtr! We will be fine this week. Go hokies!

Don't look now, but we ran a 1 minute drill to end the first half.

We also drove for a leading TD on the drive right after they tied it.

These are new and welcome experiences for me

Your second point is the most critical, and I thought that while it occurred during the game - "Hey, they just scored on us & momentum is in the balance. Yet, we're driving down the field just a pretty as you please. Brewer is just working it right down the field, not bothered at all. Loeffler isn't calling stupid plays (like his predecessor), he's just doing what it takes. This is cool!'

It's a welcome change, and a welcome sensation - confidence in our offense.

Yup. Still not quite sure we can impose our will on a short yardage down and distance situation, but I'm pretty pleased with the progress we've made thus far. Let's hope we can maintain it.

So you are telling me there is a chance we have an offense?

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

I hope you are right.

The Dude Abides

Most importantly all game long they had amazing starting position about the 50 yard line most of the time. We made long drives several times to get in.
