Be sure to read Mark Berman's story in Wednesday's paper about former Hokies and Giants running back David Wilson, who will be returning to Virginia Tech in January to complete his degree and train as a triple jumper.

It's been very inspiring the way he's handled this whole ordeal. He's stayed positive and focused. No doubt he'll succeed at whatever he wants to do.

With this high risk defense & you guys on an island, would you say getting beat is bound to happen at some point in the season?

I wouldn't say it's bound to happen… [later: is there something wrong with that guy?]

I guess doctors have cleared him but I would thing jumping far and high would have an effect on your neck? Best of luck flip

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

IIRC, it's the whole "contact sport" thing they've ruled out...

How can you not root for a guy this Wilson? His maturity and outlook on life is inspiring, especially for someone still so young. Can't wait to cheer him on for the gold on 2016!

Life goes on. Im not a football player; football doesnt define me. Im a guy that chose to play football and I was good at it.
Theres certain people thats got a certain drive inside of them to be good at whatever they choose to do, and theres certain people thats born to do just a specific thing. Some people are born just to play football, and I dont think I was one of those people.
Im just choosing something else to do and Im going to be good at it.

I usually don't like the whole "the majority professional athletes are horrible people" idea that a lot of the general public tends to believe, but after this past week or so in the NFL I can't help but feel even worse for David. He's the perfect person to represent the league (especially from the running back position) and it really sucks that his career was cut short when there are so many others that just can't keep themselves out of trouble and continually take advantage of the blessings that they've been given.

On a more positive note, it's great to see him so happy and content with the direction of his life. What a great attitude to have at such a hard time for him.

The timing of him coming the weekend we have two 5 star recruits on campus cannot be a coincidence

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.
