Awesome! Although Key and Peele beat them to the punch, this is still pretty good. Gotta love SNL.
Ehhh SNL tries way, way too hard. They just haven't been able to find the magic they had with the Will Ferrell bunch. Too many of their good writers have gone on to bigger and better things.
They did okay 2 seasons ago when they had a decent cast - they had a big departure and it's been struggling to get back since.
Plus, the second Key and Peele sketch had a Hokie!
Funny, but to be honest the shitty fake facial hair bugged the crap out of me!

They'll always have the 70's.
Back in the 70s they actually weren't that popular. SNL has always battled the perception that they're dead or dying. We just now know that in the 70s legends littered that cast - same as the 80s, 90s, 00s. Absolutely some down years mixed in but IMO still pretty good overall.

But "popular" doesn't always equate to funny. Or talent.
Gotta say my favorite was Marvin Ingram
its impressive SNL survived so many decades of laughs despite all the departures.
Funny enough, but by the end I was shaking my head more than laughing
Favorite SNL alum of all time was Phil Hartman, hands down. There have been many hilarious cast members but Hartman was spewing soda out your nostrils funny. RIP Phil.
