since we are using 5 significant digits, should it not be next year? or maybe it begins this year and we party until March of 2016? We can call it the "pie-day round-up"?

Well, 3/14/15 would simply be truncating to 5 significant figures, so by virtue of being a truncation, this year we can celebrate "Cutting the pie day."

Ok, so the past holiday season convinced me to turncoat and become a member of Team Pie. Team Cake, I offer my apologies and hope that you won't burn me in effigy like some sort of Dessert Benedict Arnold.
That being said, there is and can be only one true Pie Day and that is in March so, by all means, eat your pies today but save the celebration. Seriously, this could turn into an all out war akin to ye olde Pagan vs. Christian wars.

Any New Mexico Hokies here? There's a tiny town in west-central New Mexico called Pie Town...and yes, they're known for their pies. March 14th is the yearly super bowl of pies there. DO IT.

The actual epic pi day will be March 14, 2015. Looking forward to it myself
American Pie Council obviously doesn't math
I know right. Everyone on the planet knows pie day is 3/14. American Pie Council are a bunch of cake eaters
not just 3.14, but 3.1415. This one is special
3.1416 would be closer to optimal.
I'm going with Illinois Hokie's suggestion below. I'll worry about rounding up next year.

We should have a New Year's style countdown to 9:26:53 AM.
pie for breakfast at least
As soon as I saw the title, myediate thought was "how many replies until someone brings this up?"
I'm really surprised that March 14th could be thought of as anything other than STEAK AND BJ DAY.

Gentlemen, you owe it to yourselves to make sure this day is celebrated appropriately.
I smell what you're cooking, pap.
There's an American Pie Council? Sign me up.

Click above for epicness.
These are their reps. Does team cake have this? Don't think so.
Is that band camp, crackly voice, shannon elizabeth, and american beauty? What on earth was this for?
American Pie council
Oh. Not sure I ever saw that movie all the way through.
Horse, I am disappoint.
As you should be!
Now THATS what I call American Pie!
Call me crazy, but I'd take Alyson Hannigan over the other three all day and twice on Tuesday. She's always tied me in knots.
I watched hockey at the bar with French on Tuesday night. Can confirm via #sources that Tuesday was National Pie Day as well.

Tea meat? Is that like teabagging?

Damn, I have to wait until December 4th for National Cookie Day. Go Team Cookies!
Pie is so good it gets two national days of recognition.
