Stay In-State and Do NOT go to UVA.
As a 4* you are incredibly gifted young men and are almost guaranteed to go pro, like your 5* bretheren (Every VA 5* recruit from 2003-2009 has found their way onto an NFL roster) During that same time frame, there were 58 of you. Only 31 have gone on to the professional level (including AFL, CFL, IFL, FXFL, and NFL practice squads)
20 of you committed to Blacksburg; 13 to Charlottesville; 25 left the state. Of your equals who committed to Blacksburg, 12 have gone pro, 3 played out their careers for CFB, 2 would have had injuries not derailed their careers, and one transferred out. Two never arrived for various reasons. Of those who left the state 11 made it to the pros, six transferred to other universities, 5 failed to either arrive at their colleges or left for various reasons, and three finished their careers at their respective universities. 12 of 20 (60%) to 11 of 25 (44%) in favor of Virginia Tech vs going out of state.
Now, UVA. Of the 13 of them who have gone to UVA six of them decided UVA was not for them and left, and one never arrived. That means that only six finished their careers at UVA. Only four of those arrived at the professional level. 12 of 20 (60%) for Virginia Tech. 4 of 13 (31%).
Virginia Tech (60%)
Out of State (44%)
UVA (31%)
What about by position? Certainly UVA has an advantage at your position, right?
QB? 8 of them played, 2 for VT, 2 for UVA, 4 out of state. One Hokie, Zero Cavaliers went pro.
RB? 6 played, 3 for VT, 1 for UVA. Two of the Hokies went pro.
WR? 9 played, 4 for VT, 1 for UVA. Two Hokies went pro, and the one Cavalier is on the Browns' practice squad
TE? 1 played, neither for VT nor UVA
OL? 7 played. 3 for VT, 1 for UVA. Two Hokies went pro, as did the Cavalier
DL? 7 played, 3 for VT, 2 for UVA. Two Hokies went pro, as did one Cavalier
LB? 9 played, 3 for VT, 1 for UVA. Two Hokies went pro, the Cavalier transferred to Liberty
DB? Please
Four-star recruits, the choice is yours. Make the right one.

Get the sentiment, agree with the post but reads a wee bit desperate. Like we should be sending cards to recruits saying "YOU!"
Recruitment should be about the positives of VT not the negatives of other schools. "Some went out of state, some went lolUVA. Those kids overall had low percentage transitioning to next level or finding playing time" Something like that, then your stats.
Overall, though I think it's not really about kids staying in state as much as it is VT landing the kids we want in state. The thing is, we don't always want/need the kids that are in state. We don't recruit all of them, we recruit them selectively. We just want to make sure we land the most and the ones we want, and that overall we are the school to beat.
This. I really hate how people seem to think that kids are for some reason obligated to stay in state. Yet to hear a legitimate argument for this given today's technology.
This seems more like a shot at the myth that VT doesn't put a lot of players in the pros.
Who's twice as likely to go pro from VT than from LOLUVA!?
YOU!
"Dear Brandon..." flashbacks reading this
I assume the 2 VT QBs you reference are Tyrod & Glennon. Where does Logan Thomas fall in your data?
Tight end.
I'll see myself out
Tyrod was a 5 star.
This was the part that made me laugh the hardest
ha ha ha.....so true. Laughed at this one.
Crap you beat me to the punch on this one. Therefore I will leave this:
Kind of OT, but what's our track record with Lake Tatlor HS? 247 said Keyvone Bruton is transferring there from Oscar Smith. From the "interest" meters on 247 and because of Jayln Holmes, it looks like anOSU has built a pipeline.
Just like the water pipeline at my apartment complex, I hope theirs burst
The great Ronyell Whitaker once roamed those halls. Other than him, I don't know.
FWIW, 4* are not "guaranteed" to go pro. Only about 15% on average get drafted by NFL teams. And there is a HUGE difference between high 4* (i.e near 5*) and mid/low 4* (i.e. near 3*). I'll bet high 4* get drafted >35% of the time; low 4* probably 10%.
If the rating system used the 100 point scale (98-100 = 5*; 90-97 = 4*; 80-89 = 3*) instead of the 5 point scale, folks wouldn't be getting so fired up about missing out on a 90 (low 4*), but still getting some 88s & 89s (high 3*). Or vice versa. Too much is put on the "4 star" label without looking at what it really means.
Is Morgan Moses the uva offensive lineman referenced? Well he's not only not good, but he's already injured
