Wide receiver Eric Kumah committed to Virginia Tech on Friday. The 2016 Forest Park (Woodbridge, VA) standout made it official following an unofficial visit to Blacksburg on June 13.

"In all the times I've been here, I've seen everything else. It just really surprised me, it was really nice, it's the best facility I've been in," Kumah told The Key Play's Alex Koma about Virginia Tech's new indoor practice facility.

Kumah was also in town for Hokies' annual spring game.

At the beginning of April Kumah announced a decision date of June 19, and on June 14 he released a top five of Virginia Tech, Miami, North Carolina State, Kentucky and Maryland. Kumah also held scholarship offers from Tennessee, Virginia, Boston College and Pittsburgh.

Kumah is a 3-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite. He named Virginia Tech his favorite in January.

"I met all the staff, and it just seems so stable there," Kumah told The Key Play's Alex Koma in January. "A lot of those guys have been there for a long time. I don't go to a school where the coach leaves the next year and you have to worry about having a whole different system or if you'll get to play."

Virginia Tech wide receivers coach Zohn Burden and Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster receiver the lion's share of credit for securing Kumah's verbal commitment.

Alex will try to speak with Eric about his decision soon, in the meantime, these past articles give a solid overview on his recruitment.

Im so thrilled about this commitment. Hokies need more WR of Kumah's caliber. Welcome to Hokieland!

Fuck yeah

Add him to the least of Hokies with offers from the mighty $EC. Glad to see a kid staying instate as Burden put it.

I love it.

Congrats to Kumah and the Hokies! This QB-WR thing is really starting to take shape. A lot of talent there.

Welcome to the good guys, Eric!

Happy birthday, and if it hasn't been said already, welcome to TKP.

Happy birthday! Enjoy it. All I've gotten the past 2 years is a gutwrenching loss to Boston College.

Have to say... Our presence on twitter right now is awesome... Looks like someone set him up with some personalized images to use in his commitment.... Nice

Good choice, Mr. Kumah. Have a great time in college, learning and playing.

And congratulations to the VT staff. Fine get for your hard work.

I was watching the first replay and thought to myself, "Damn he is getting chased down in this footrace, guess he doesn't have spee...OH SHIT!"

Hustles down the field to block for his teammate. All I needed to see to know I liked him...and I also I don't really know what I'm looking for in terms of judging talent haha.

BOOM!

I would upvote this....but screw jimmie johnson...

I never understood all the hate for Jimmie. He always seems to be the smartest driver out there in the little bit of NASCAR I've watched.

"Hokie religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." Han Solo

I don't watch much of it but from listening to my family, people think he wins just because of money. Also, people love to hate a winner.

Generally I hate Nascar. I think that the rules (in particular their scoring and how they determine their "champion") are needlessly complex and, above all, stupid. Drivers shouldn't get points because their teammates did well or because someone who happened to be driving the same brand of car won. And why on earth some points carry over drom one season to the next perplexes me. If you want it to be a team sport, make it a team sport where a team wins. If you want it to be an individual sport, make it so.

I don't think a lot of what you said is accurate. Points are based on where you finish the race plus a few bonus points for leading a lap or winning. Manufacturer and team points are a completely different thing and all but irrelevant. Manufacturer points are just for bragging rights. Its like saying the ACC went 5-8 this year against the SEC.

Team points only factor in in qualifying when more than 43 cars enter the race and they have to decide who goes home early. To use another football analogy, it would be like Purdue and Western Kentucky are both bowl eligible but only one spot left. They'll pick Purdue because they are a P5 team. At the end of the day no one really cares because it's still going to be a crappy bowl game.

Ok I need to own up to my actions. I mixed alcohol and TKP last night, which we all know is a bad idea. I actually think Jimmie is a stand up guy who I would gladly have a beer with. But I HATE the 48. And it's true, it's because he always wins. I (and other fans) get so tired of it

TKP and alcohol? Gotta be a first.

It is hard to tell how someone's high school tape will translate to the college level. But there is no doubt that Kumah has plenty of the tools to be successful. I believe he will be hard to keep off the field early. Size, speed, hands, willingness to block. It is hard to explain, but he seems to have a knack for running with the football.

another one for the good guys

Just saw the highlight film and I'm thinking Yards after Catch...hooray, playmaker

Fantastic. It's news like this that makes waking up at the crack of 1:30 Sunday afternoon all worthwhile.

Frickin' A Right! Good size and hands, oh AND he looks like he can block! Welcome! Welcome!

Loving the height we are picking up at receiver. It's one thing we've traditionally lacked.

Upvoted this one. It just sounded better than the first or third one.
