Did anyone make out what Metallica said on the HokieVision video before they played Sandman for the entrance? The crowd erupted as soon as it started, which is exactly what they should do, and I couldn't hear it. I did a few quick searches on google and couldn't get anything but I may be missing it.
I'm sure it wasn't exciting and they probably just said "go hokies" in a few more words, but I'm still curious.

When we saw this from the South Endzone on Saturday the stadium went wild- I remember one of the constant dreams of Tech fans when a student at VT was "man I wish Metallica did a live Sandman for one huge game". Though not live, seeing the recognition from the band was awesome and another boost for the fans to keep their VOLUME UP!!!
When it showed up on the screen, I thought "what the heck" for about a half second until I heard Enter Sandman, at which point I went crazy as usual. It does nothing for me, but if it helps others get loud then I'm all for it. I wasn't a fan of when Bowden played Enter Sandman though; it seemed weaker then.
I agree
Honestly it took the wind out of my sails a little bit. Every time we do the Lets Go...Hokies chant, I start to get chills just in anticipation. So when Enter Sandman starts playing after the 5th or 6th one it's just awesome. But with them doing the video, I lost the buzz that was at virtually a maximum.
Gearhart says he’s working on getting Metallica to participate in another Virginia Tech-related initiative, but declined to go into specifics because “unless I can deliver it, unless Marc can deliver it, then you just disappoint. …The key here is really just supporting my son and being able to fan the flames of this insane enthusiasm that they generate.”
...and begin the rumors (again) of Metallica playing live
