While driving down a backroad today I came with in inches of running over a wild turkey. I was going so fast and had a car on my bumper so no way I could slow down or swerve, luckily it realized its own peril and stopped on a dime and ran back into the safety of the woods. This dramatic Hokie save tells me the season will be a dramatic turnaround from the disaster of the last few years...

There is a buckeye tree at work and the parking lot is always covered in crushed nuts around this time of year. I also think there is one in Oak Lane out front of one of the houses that has held multiple sororities that have been kicked off campus. Coincidence?
I saw that tree. This morning a wild turkey chopped it down, and then I saw a horse run over it with a treadmill.
Does that mean anything?
Either it's an omen of a perfect season, or you need to see a doctor.
I hate it when my nuts are crushed all over the parking lot.
I really do, no joke.
You'd hate it too.
I've heard enter sandman on the radio a TON in the last month or so, that's gotta be worth something right?!
Weren't ranked in the AP poll.
Usually, that's a good sign for VT.
I have a good omen for the Furman game. We cancelled our post Labor Day beach trip this year. In years past I've been at the beach for the JMU loss, Pittsburg loss, and the GT game last year.
I was at all of our home losses last year, and ended up not going to the UVA game due to one of the kids being a little under the weather. Wonder if I should just sell my OSU tickets...
I'll buy them at a decent price! Have family visiting that I'm trying to get tix for.
If you're that superstitious, I suggest you sell them to me. Hokie Nation will be proud of you. /s
JK, glad your gonna be at the game, enjoy it and the atmosphere. Its gonna be electric.
Just got invited to the work beach trip that will be the same weekend of ECU. Looks like it's going to be one of those years.
DO NOT SEEK THE TREASURE!
Leg for the reference
I just saw a Wild Turkey ad on TV.
I rarely watch anything at all until football season.
Ad came on, I turned to the beautiful Mrs. Shoog and said 'that's a good omen!' And then checked out TKP and saw this thread.
Playoffs, baby!
I mean...I just got back from Kroger where my total came out to $7.77?
7.
7.
7.
I was gonna upvote this..but it was sittin' pretty at +7 so I thought it best to leave it alone
But now it has to go to 77 because other people weren't as considerate
I challenge the community to get it to 777. I have now contributed my portion
You're at 7 also!
Phew, I had messed it up, but fixed.
^^^^^^bona fide leg cooler

8 hours later, frozen at 7
Was grabbing a bunch of different beers the other day. Found one that is aged in Wild Turkey Rare Breed barrels. Saving it for game time!
I too saw a wild turkey walking on the side of the road a couple weeks ago. And thought that is a great sign! Then two minutes later a car with anOSU license plate holder passed by. Still the wild turkey trumps that. I mean how often do you see a wild turkey? Got to be a great sign.
A lot less often than you see stickers for the team whose Facebook followers are 87% non-alumni. :)
This was a fun read where that stat came from.
The "like" percentage for non-students at loluva is 76%??????
per the author's comment about northwestern. Could it be that a lot of northwestern students just don't want to put that they go there on facebook? Not sure what the reason for this could be, but if only students/alumni are fans and there are more fans than reported students, it would follow that some of those fans are actually students/alumni.
I just added a fellow Hokie to my soccer team, just felt great, good omen,
Received by shipment of blades from Dollar Shave Club today. Opened up The Bathroom Minutes, the little newsletter of miscellanea they include in each shipment.
Boom. 12-0. Book it.
I looked out my window at work this morning and saw this flock:
There are eight of them, which naturally means we will win ten games or r-So TE Matt Hill will be our MVP. Or maybe Detrick Bonner will be our most consequential loss from last year. Or maybe we'll beat OSU by 8 points.
Joel said he saw them last week or something and thought it was a hen with 7 poults, when I saw them this morning I didn't think of them as mother/chicks. They foraged in this giant field for a while, then I had to go to class.
I'm currently eating a turkey sub at Sub Station II while reading TKP. That counts, right?
On my way to work in the past 2 weeks, I've passed a lot of cars. On a few of those cars have been anOSU, ECU, Pitt, NCState, Miami, Duke, UNC, and loluva stickers. They haven't passed me, I've passed them. That has to be a sign, right?!
