Virginia Tech ranked 18th best college football program of the 2000s by The Athletic

Who's the best college football program of the 2000's? Ranking the top 25

Kinda wild to not have Bama at 1, but I guess I see their methodology if they are favoring consistency throughout. The Saban era didn't start until 2007 and they didn't win a natty until 2009, so that would skew the whole first decade of the 2000's against them.

As a Hokie fan it's nice to see our name in the top 25, but it also stings a bit knowing how far we've fallen since.

Top 5 all time players

Its offseason. I had a hit from the vape and I came across Shady McCoy doing this for shitt https://www.youtube.com/shorts/697DlErQ5p0

I got to thinking: who are ours?

I posit this:

  • MV7
  • Bruuuuuuuuce
  • KJ
  • Tyrod
  • Jake Grove

It seems like I am thoroughly disrespecting Antonio Freeman, Kam Chancellor, Wilson, Williams, and DHall (ugh)

Discuss.

UT and Vandy could get kicked from SEC if they opt-in to new Tennessee State Law

Article

I just read an interesting article regarding a newly enacted state law in Tennessee that would give universities in the state immunity from antitrust lawsuits by athletes/others, and shift any liability to the NCAA itself. Apparently the SEC is requiring its schools to sign a "Loyalty Pledge" stating that they will opt-out of any legislation similar to the one in Tennessee, or risk getting kicked out of the conference. It will be interesting to see who blinks first here.

Miami 1 of 10 Biggest Spring Portal Winners (Athlon)

"Miami allowed 30.8 points a game in 2024 ACC play. Miami started upgrading their defense earlier this offseason with the arrival of new coordinator Corey Hetherman DC from Minnesota (via Rutgers LB, JMU DC/DE, Maine DC, ODU RDC/LB/OLB) , along with a couple of portal additions up front and in the secondary in the first window."

Even James Hetfield is capable of getting caught up in the Lane Stadium Experience

For anyone worried that Metallica isn't well aware of what Enter Sandman means to VT, worry no more. The guy looked like he was just out there having fun.

Would love to be able to bring them in town just to take in a game and experience the moment.

Hokies to play ND even less going forward than originally planned

Reading all this, I would be surprised if our home and home cycle with ND is less than a decade long. Annual matchups with Clemson, as well as potentially FSU and Miami as well?

Temple LB Antwone Santiago Commits to VT

From Meriden Connecticut, the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder held three offers out of high school before enrolling at Temple in 2022. He appeared in four games that year, using it as his redshirt season.

He continued to contribute in a backup role in 2023. Playing in eight games, he recorded nine total tackles, including a tackle for loss, as well as two quarterback hurries.

In 2024, he appeared in 12 games, starting one of those and recording 25 total tackles, a blocked kick, and a quarterback hurry. The blocked punt came in a game against UConn and was recovered in the end zone by a teammate for a touchdown. He also returned a punt for nine yards on special teams.
