A recent offer netted Virginia Tech an impressive win on the recruiting trail. Jaden Payoute announced his verbal commitment to the Hokies after an unofficial visit.

Tech offered the 6-3, 195 pound Lloyd C. Bird HS stand out on June 5. Illinois, Boston College, and Tennessee quickly followed suit. Pitt was another suitor. 247Sports recently rated Payoute a 4-star (93) WR, S, CB. He turned heads at a June 5 camp at Randolph-Macon College in which Tech's coaches were on-hand.
It was great to see L.C. Bird WR Jaden Payoute at Tuesday night's RMC Football Camp with Virginia Tech. He was thoroughly impressive, and he has landed seven offers since the camp wrapped. Brandon Mitchell has the story: https://t.co/af0OrTooPXβ Recruit804 (@804football) June 6, 2018
"The camp went very well. I had a 42-inch vertical and ran a 4.38 40-yard dash. I did pretty well on all my drills and won my 1-on-1's," Payoute stated.
Should that 4.38, 40 catch your eye, know Payoute blazed the track this spring.

Indeed, the Hokies locked up a verbal from a burner after an in-person evaluation in short order.

Boom!
YES!!
Ask TKP.....
Is the rainbow going into or coming out of his pants?
#TeamIntoPants
Maybe the better question is: Who's on the other side?
I guess this doesn't technically answer the question of into pants vs out of pants, but it does make for two very different interpretations of the face he's making...
Yes
I'm sure Payoute will have many spectacular quests during his time here.
Love the 110% reference again.
Fuckin awesome news for a Sunday afternoon..... LET'S GO!!!
Well damn, what a week. So who's next? There is no stopping this hype train!
I saw that bitch leaving the station earlier.... looked like this:

CJF keeps right on surprising me...great news!
You know hey have this as one entire gif now right?
I do, but my google-fu is not strong today.
But it's a good way to up the leg count.
No lies, motherf---. I legged every single one of those. Could be the early afternoon cocktail. Could be I'm easily amused. Probably a little of both.
2 of the top 5 players in the state...solid recruiting momentum

Funny how that works after the doom and gloom only a few weeks ago. If both sign it will be the first time VT signs 2 top 5 VA players per 247's rankings since 2012 (#4 Joel Caleb and #5 Deon Clarke). I'll point out that Tremaine Edmunds was rated the #15 player in VA for 2015 yet just got drafted #16 overall in the NFL draft.
The fan base was doom and gloom lol, I'm sure the coaches just got back to work and it's paid off the last 4 days in particular.
Pardon me for not getting excited about two players being compared to Caleb and Clarke.. lol. although Clarke had his moments.
One of those "stuff happens" situations. Like Michael Vick being associated with JaMarcus Russell simply because they were both drafted #1 overall.
"Stuff happens" is an understatement with regard to recruiting...which is why getting crazy (good or bad) about the number of top 10 in-state recruits VT signs or doesn't sign in a given year is pointless.
Oof. No one is comparing them personally to Caleb and Clarke. It's an association based on numeric rankings fabricated by various talent evaluators on an annual basis within an arbitrarily determined boundary (state of VA), not absolute truth. It's been debated around here plenty of times but ultimately my stnace would be "getting higher rated guys is generally positive; however, it is not a guarantee of success and plenty of lower ranked guys go on to have great careers."
Apologies for my ignorance but his recruitment was so quick... is Jaden a WR or DB for us?
If he can catch, wide receiver. If he can't, he has enough speed that he could be. Deablo sizes guy at corner.
Who do you think is the better prospect at WR? Him or Farley?
They have comparable size although he might be a bit faster than Farley. I would guess the ship has sailed for Farley at receiver unless he plays both ways.
Stroman was being looked at on both sides of the ball further into his career than Farley is at this point. I could see him still moving around depending on his performance at CB and the other players at those positions.
We weren't paper thin at corner when stroman played kind of both sides for a small bit of a season.
Right but fast forward next year- Webb is fully recovered, other young guys show they can hold down CB, and we are still looking for playmakers at WR then you never know.
Caleb Farley, the next Macho Harris.
If that's the case I hope we keep him on defense and appreciate what he can add on special teams.
As far as I can tell, he could play either side for us. I'm thinking though with Farley sticking at CB and Thompson and Ellis likely going there as well because of need, this will allow him to stick at WR. His athleticism is off the charts. He could be another Farley for us.
His tape is sick. Can't wait to see this dude after Hilgart gets several months with him.
This has been one of the strangest weeks in recruiting that I've seen in a while, but man I'll take it.
Any harsh words from the PSU contingent on why they failed to secure Payoute's committment? Guess they figured they throw us a bone.....haha.
Round about way, but we finally got the number two recruit in VA...
That tweet shows the rankings last being updated on 6-6-18. The most recent one has Ford #2 still.
EDIT: Oh looks like you just posted the 247 ranking, in that case you are right. The composite has Ford #2 though.
Yikes, 3 of the top 4 are at PSU .... despite the good news, thats a rough thing to see
Staff just killed it this week. That's another hokie club donation for me
THIS!!!! same here... even if everyone who reads this thread goes and gives just what they can we'd be surprised what it might amount to... give something if you can!

Dayummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!! I'll drink to this news!!
Clearly these MAC coaches can't recruit because Zohn is the only one landing 4 stars.

Awesome news! Anyone care to enlighten me on the pronunciation? Pay-out, Pey-otie?

That two elite commits in one weekend feeling.

Spider-Man and especially Spider-Man 2 are substantially better than any of the newer movies. Toby Maguire was an excellent and damn near perfect Peter Parker. People let the shitty 3rd one affect their views of the first two. Critically speaking, none of the others come close to Spider-Man 2.
They were good. I got far more enjoyment out of Homecoming. And this is from someone who was loathe to watch another Spider-Man reboot. Worth it though.
i think he snubbed us for UGA
Meh, after the Ford debacle, we all know these coaches can't recruit elite players. /s
Irrational thought alert.....
Am I the only one who cringes slightly when I see a recruit wearing #1? I know its irrational, but I can't help but always wonder if they are a selfish, me first player. Perhaps the #1 is worn because its slimming, or for some actual reason, but I always wonder, can't help it. Again, I realize this may be an irrational thought.
That being said, I'm super pumped. CJF and crew are doing work. It's a really exciting time to be a Hokie.
Darn that selfish Isaiah Ford guy...
At least you admitted it but I think this is the most irrational take I've seen on here since "that damn truth."
At least the Minnesota Wild don't have to deal with that made up problem

I don't trot out the Patron for just anyone, but it's time.

I love the original video. Was not aware there was a gif.
Yeah but does he do his own homework?
Too soon?
Any one less notice that 10.67-100?? That's fast, right? Like fastest time recorded in the state, fast. Like has to be a WR, cause he can outrun anyone on the field fast.
Only person faster in the state is Cole Beck, @10.4 . .. the same Cole Beck who is a class of 2018 RB committed to Virginia Tech.
Of course Beck was a senior this year, and Payoute was a junior, so might be able to catch Beck's time next spring.
Huh, I should go on my honeymoon more often. What a week!
Fun fact: back in Biblical times, honeymoons lasted a year.
So, if you wanna go honeymoon for longer, we'd appreciate it as much as you and the new wife would.
The origin or word means that it would last approximately one month - until a new moon cycle.
True. Incidentally, "honeymoon" isn't anywhere in the Bible, but the concept was there as part of Mosaic law/statute.
(Mods: I'm speaking on literature and history, not religious doctrine. Don't banhammer me, bros.)
That's because the term originated with the Vikings and well after Biblical Times
and honey comes from mead, an outstanding aphrodisiac.
So wait...
is his name pronounced like 'pay out' or 'peyote'?
Before I post a stupid gif I think I should know.
So far I'm guessing it sounds like 'Leal'
