Interesting Hokie Bball stats

It's been a very normal Monday afternoon of me browsing Hokiesports.com, and I always find the season stats interesting and very telling of how the season has been. These are just a few of the things I found intriguing:

We are actually ok at free throws this year

Not only are we shooting as well as our opponents at 67 percent, but look at just HOW MANY free throws we've attempted! There have been multiple ACC games in which we have shot 30+ from the line, and it's good to know we can make them, and that guys like Seth Allen (72%) and Zach LeDay (77%) can make them in the clutch.

Our small lineup can still rebound

Rebounding was our plague last season. I feared it would be this year as well, with so many 6-5/6-6 tweeners forced to play in the post at times (see: Justin Bibbs at the 4). Blackshear is a huge help, and certainly LeDay at 6-7 can hold his own, but the fact that we are out-rebounding opponents is quite a surprise to me.

Zach LeDay has only gotten better

Many of us wondered if LeDay could keep up his double-double pace he maintained throughout out-of-conference play, including Buzz, but he is actually shooting better and scoring more in conference games. He currently ranks 6th in the ACC in rebounding. He still might not be an All-ACC first-teamer, but he is the heart and soul of the team, and very reliable for double-digit points.

We are a strong 2nd-half team

We've seen this in games vs Georgia Tech and NC State, but to see that our defense has kept the same intensity in the second half while our offense gets stronger is great to see, and once again something very different from previous seasons.

Justin Bibbs is money from behind the line

Bibbs is averaging 12.5 per game, and those percentages you see are 52% FG percentage, and 54.5% on 3s. His 3 point percentage is 2nd in the ACC, only behind London Perrentes.

All three point guards are killing it

Devin Wilson, Seth Allen, and Justin Robinson are all averaging over 20 minutes per game, and each has something different they bring to the floor. Wilson has by far the highest assist-to-turnover ratio, and is tied for the team lead in steals. Allen, though he leads the team in turnovers and therefore does not have an admirable assist-to-turnover ratio, has been reliable in the clutch lately and is second on the team behind LeDay in ppg, although the numbers clearly state that he shouldn't shoot near as much as he does (most FG attempts, 2nd-lowest percentage on team).
