Potential replacements for ECU in 2019

As you all know, we have 4 threads currently discussing the cancellation of all future games at ECU. I thought about picking one to post this in, but figured it was relevant enough for a thread of its own.

I just took a glance through fbschedules.com, and as far as I can tell, here is a complete list of FBS teams with fewer than 12 games scheduled for 2019, along with their current non-conference schedule:

Houston - @ Oklahoma, vs. Wazzou, @ North Texas
FIU - @ Tulane, New Hampshire, UMass
UAB - @ Akron, South Alabama, @ Tennessee

Looks to me like Whit should give FIU a call. They already have 6 home games, and don't already have a P5 school on the schedule.

In addition, here is the list of teams playing at Hawaii with only 12 games scheduled, meaning they could schedule a 13th if they so desire:

Arizona
Oregon State
Air Force
Fresno State
San Diego State
San Jose State

Now, over the last few years, I've noticed that most teams eligible for a 13th game decline to schedule one, instead scheduling a game during Week 0 and taking advantage of the extra bye week, so the chances we play one of these six teams seems a bit slim. Still, though, it is a possibility that I am certain Whit is aware of. And if all else fails, I'm sure we could find an FCS team, as is the current rumor in the Twitterverse.
