He runs too fast to look good in GIF form.

"Go Hokies!" - Thomas Jefferson

But his backflips are just the right speed.

on a wet field no less!

think they called him "Flip Wilson"

It's a great day to be a Hokie!

if he ran any faster

the gif aliasing would make his legs move backwards like old western wagon wheels.

As it is, the gliding kinda reminded me of this:

kudos to the electric football reference

Looks like pittsburg v. buffalo? I had the vikings v. the browns....loved that game! Lots of cold winter days spent playing it.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

This was just a pic I grabbed off the web...I actually had a vintage 1950's game that I found in my grandma's attic, it had generic teams although I guess the old green could have been the Pack...

Hate to say it,

But #30 on the Giants got away with a serious block in the back IMO. Still a beautiful runback by Wilson, and I doubt #44 of the Saints was going to make the play as he was turning outside while Wilson had just cut inside.

David Wilson is buzzing!

he had an awesome day. must've had some chic-fil-a before the game. each time he plays the announcers keep saying he needs to get more carries, theres no way one fumble at the start of the season is limiting his time. i wonder what is causing his limited carries. so glad he finally had a breakout game.

tyrod did it mikey! tyrod did it!

About a month ago there was a news bit quoting the Giants RB coach, saying he needed to improve his blocking before seeing significant snaps. If I recall correctly, that was a similar issue his first couple years at VT also.

Glad to see him going off in the big show though!

Love it, but...

I had Ahmad Bradshaw starting in my fantasy football playoffs and he got jack squat for me.

But run it up DMFW!

Talk about a breakout performance!

*Wilson had a breakout game. He scored on a 97-yard kickoff return and had other returns of 58 and 52 yards. He also rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns. His 327 all-purpose yards established a team record. The former mark of 303 was set by Domenik Hixon at New Orleans on Oct. 18, 2009. Hixon’s breakdown was 230 yards on kickoff returns, 51 on punt returns and 22 on receptions.

*Wilson is the first player in NFL history with at least 200 kickoff return yards and 100 rushing yards in the same game.

*Wilson’s 227 kickoff return yards (on four runbacks) was the third-highest single-game total in Giants history, surpassed only by Willie Ponder’s 259 yards vs. Pittsburgh on Dec. 18, 2004 and Hixon’s 230 yards at New Orleans in 2009.

*Wilson averaged 56.8 yards per return, the highest total ever by a Giant with at least three returns in a game. The previous record of 51.8 yards was set by Joe Scott on four returns vs. the Rams on Nov. 14, 1948.

*Wilson, the Giants’ first-round draft choice this year, has returned 48 kickoffs for 1,321 yards, a 27.5-yard average, this season. The yardage total is a team record, topping Hixon’s 1,291 yards in 2009.

*Wilson’s 27.5-yard average currently makes him the Giants’ career leader (minimum 40 returns). Rocky Thompson had held the record with a 27.2-yard average on 65 returns from 1971-73.

*Wilson scored the Giants’ first touchdown on his 97-yard kickoff return in the first quarter. It was the Giants’ first kickoff return touchdown since Hixon’s 74-yard runback against New England on Dec. 29, 2007. The Giants had played 76 regular season and nine postseason games between kickoff return touchdowns.

How Long

Until Coughlin puts an end to the backflips...

UVA: Jefferson's biggest mistake

I'm wondering how long it will take the refs to flag him for taunting.

Yeah, I'm really surprised it's not considered excessive celebration.

I don't watch pro football, but Wikipedia says "In 2006 the NFL, in an effort to cut down on celebrations, amended its rules to include an automatic 15 yard penalty against any player who leaves his feet [etc]"

Achievement unlocked: All of the Fullers

"Sam Rogers is a college football icon" SB Nation

Thanks Frank!

But it's David Wilson. He breaks all the universal rules of the world. He climbs Cassell Colisseum. He can chase down rabbits. He eats Chick-Fil-A on Sundays.

So does the band...

when the CFA bowl is played on a Sunday.

Selectively enforced...

If the rule was enforced to the letter, the Lambeau Leap wouldn't exist. As it is, it probably happens in most games, not just in Lambeau anymore.

Plus the officials are probably like, "That guy can backflip. That's pretty cool.... I won't throw the flag."

DW's Backflips do Not Break the Taunting rule:

(d) Individual players involved in prolonged or excessive celebrations. Players are prohibited from engaging in any celebrations while on the ground. A celebration shall be deemed excessive or prolonged if a player continues to celebrate after a warning from an official.
(e) Two-or-more players engage in prolonged, excessive, premeditated, or choreographed celebrations.
(f) Possession or use of foreign or extraneous object(s) that are not part of the uniform during the game on the field or the sideline, or using the ball as a prop.

Unless, he gets another player to do it with him, it doesn't break any of the NFL rules.

Thank you sir!

For the clarification, I was seriously curious what the rule entailed. Bring on more backflips!

I was wondering the same thing. I'm sure no head coach likes the thought of their players backflipping to celebrate a TD. I hope he never stops it though. It would be cool if David Wilson gets known for being "The Backflip Guy" haha

is it just me

or was 1700 yards on the low end of what he could have done last year?

that game was awesome

I yelled so loud (Hit the hole, hit the hole, go go GO!!) at the TV when Wilson got the hand off on his 50+ yard TD run that my 3 year old and 5 month starting screaming crying. Had to spend the rest of the game explaining to my 3 year old that I wasn't yelling out of anger?!

Really psyched for DMFW, was a hell of a break out game. Still has a ways to go. It took Bradshaw a couple of years before he gained Coughlin's trust.

It's a great day to be a Hokie!

I'm not sure

if anyone has already posted this, but I saw it floating around twitter last night.

That video should have all of his big plays from last night. So great to see one of our own doing well, and I really hope this is just the first of many huge performances by Wilson.

Love this

Seeing that just made me so very happy for him. Always want to see guys succeed in the NFL.

"It's a miracle in Blacksburg! Tyrod did it, Mikey! Tyrod did it!"

I am just waiting for Tyrod to get a shot

"I never surprise myself"

as a Ravens fan

I'm extra motivated to catch all of the pre-season, and hope for the occasional blowout. Flacco is tough as nails.

Maybe Jacksonville could grab him for next year? We suck so bad...

I went to 3 this year and I'd go to more if he were here. Gabbert and Henne are just so blah...

That was awesome! The Duke of Danville strikes 3TD's! BAM!BAM!BAM!

...his pregame meal yesterday was chik-fil-a

i have very mixed feelings about this being a loyal Patriots fan since i was 10 years old who hates the ny giants almost more than uva, miami hurricanes and miami heat* combined. 18-1 hurts worse than Tyrod not winning a Title

Go Pats!

I'm with you man, I'm a die hard Pats fan myself (great game last night btw) so I hate the giants picked up two of my Hokies, but what you gonna do? I still cheer them on, all with a little hope that free agency comes into play and they're not wearing giants blue anymore after a few years haha.

I'm a Saints fan

Talk about conflicted feelings

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

Great Night

Anybody see Jayron get in and make some plays too? Great night all around for the Hokies, fun to watch!

whatcha thinkin bout?

David Wilson may get the start this week, as Bradshaw is dealing with a knee injury. I pray if given the opportunity, he holds on to the ball and continues to earn more of Coughlin's support. He showed all of the upside he has last week, hopefully no more of the downside gets shown for the rest of the season.

Ahmad Bradshaw Sprained Knee Uncertain

Gotta love it

David Wilson starting over Ahmad Bradshaw would be fantastic. Bradshaw got kicked outta UVA, and it would just be great seeing David start over him.
