Well deserved Whit!

His resume at VT (copied from /r/CFB):

  • Completely revitalized our basketball program with the perfect hire. We're about to go [We went] to the tournament for the first time in a decade and are doing so with only 7 scholarship players after losing two to injury.
  • Handled the retiring of a coaching legend perfectly, made a hire that is an awesome fit, and managed to keep one of the best Defensive Coordinators in the country on staff during the whole process. In a "rebuilding year", we won 10 games, won our division, and were ~30 yards from going to OT against the team that won the championship.
  • Made exciting hires in Women's Basketball and Women's Lacrosse, both of which were ranked in the top 25 at points this year.
  • Completely overhauled our fundraising programs. We've yet to see the dividends, but our old program was extremely outdated and was in dire need of an upgrade.
  • Secured two large corporate donations from companies that make sense for VT. Carilion Clinic (who our medical school partners with) committed $5 million for scholarships and upgrades to our basketball stadium. Union Bank (a local Virginia bank) committed $3.5 million to completely overhaul our baseball stadium.
  • Announced $21 million dollars in upgrades to our non-football indoor practice facility that includes upgrades to our softball field and tennis facilities.

Is there any other AD that had as much of an impact as Whit did this year? What a great job.

Alright, can we certify that Babcock>Weaver already??

It's so obvious it never needed to be said. Mostly out of respect, I guess.

yeah, seriously. Things I'm tired of:

If a tree falls in Scott Stadium does it make a sound?

Someone else is writing a comment that comprises all of those things to reply to your comment as I type this.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

I thought about it and balked.

you know,

as I was typing that post I was thinking of who might do just that and you came to mind, Chris. I'm a little bit disappointed you didn't come through. No hard feelings, though

I'm a mite surprised you didn't linclude that player from Bethel.

Sometimes I let work get in the way of my TKP'ing. It's a shame, really.

I was all set to leg this until that last line...

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Nobody steal him, please.

I'm hoping the renovations he did to his backyard that cost north of 50k will keep him at his current address.

So many dump trucks.

It's a damned disgrace that this doesn't have more legs.

LAUGHED. MY. ASS. OFF.

Part of that was because he bought his house after a snowstorm and had no clue what the backyard looked. He didn't realize there was an 8 foot snow drift filling in the gulley.

I didn't know that piece of info. That's kind of funny. My great aunt's best friend lives across the street. She didn't mention that, but I figured he just wanted a nice place for him and his family to hang out outside.
