Virginia Tech at Duke Photo Gallery

The (sun)light after a 3:30 PM kickoff is perfect to capture the photos of a Hokies' victory.

[Michael Shroyer]

I have covered numerous Virginia Tech road games in the past, and the post-game tradition of the Hokie players greeting their fans afterwards is always a nice note to end on. This ritual occurred before Justin Fuente's tenure, however Fuente is clearly placing an extra emphasis on recognizing Hokie Nation's support.

Following Tech's 24-21 win over Duke, the entire team went around and up an entrance ramp in Wallace Wade Stadium to access the stands. After I noticed this, I quickly climbed on a sideline table and hopped over the wall in order to meet them. After taking 50 or so photos of their interaction, I jumped down and prepared to exit the field. It seemed that no one else was leaving yet, so I turned around to take one final look. To my surprise, the Virginia Tech faithful had lined the entire bottom ring of the stadium and the players were making the entire victory lap to celebrate with them all. This memory will surely stick out to me for many years to come.

More of my favorite photos from the game are below, and you view the entire gallery on photos.thekeyplay.com.
