Correctable Mistakes

After their loss to ODU, it's clear that Virginia Tech has a lot of growing to do. Both on the field and on the sideline.

Well...at least they shit the bed together.

In many ways Friday night's implosion in Norfolk is nothing new. Virginia Tech has found a countless number of remarkable ways to lose football games over the past few years. They've thrown interceptions, been stopped at the one-yard line, surrendered a horrid amount of late touchdowns and even called timeout to void a game-winning blocked kick.

The Hokies have lost a lot. Since falling to UVA in November 2019, Virginia Tech football is a ghastly 11-16 (.407). It's the reason Justin Fuente was fired, it's the reason Brent Pry spent all offseason going to every rotary club, booster club or book club he could get invited to, trying to get Tech fans back in the boat.

So many things about the Hokies' 20-17 loss to Old Dominion was classic Tech. Letting an opponent hang around long enough to pounce with one big play near the end of the game. Not only losing, but losing on a night when a majority of college football fans had nowhere else to go but tune in to watch you blow it in the fourth quarter. Becoming a meme. Melting down on Twitter spaces and message boards everywhere for a solid three days.
