I believe a pair of local high school twins went to UVA in the past - the Barbers. Here's hoping the McDonalds have the same success but at VT

If only the Barbers had a better relationship with their dad, James Barber the former VT running back and roommate of Wing-T Quarterback partner Bruce Arians.

I cannot begin to speak on the matter, other than it saddens me that they went to UVA.

I am six years younger than the Barber twins, playing in their footsteps along the Cave Spring path from sandlot football to HS.

As a 4th grader, our rec coaches brought the twins in to speak to us about hard work and dedication at our football banquet. They were class acts even back in the day.

Fast forward to me being a senior in HS, and I ran into Tiki at Macados. He took time out of a meal with his family to talk to me, give me a signature or two, and to provide nothing but encouragement.

I can't imagine what it could have been like had he and Ronde came to VT.

If it ain't orange, it better be maroon...and if it ain't maroon, it better be soon!

Got to play Salem twice in high school regionals (07 and 08). Sophomore year lost 10-7...or 14-7, can't remember, but easily the largest crowd I ever played in front of. Salem Stadium was paaacked. Then my junior year...we got absolutely blasted that night, 35-0...then they went on to get blasted by Pulaski the week like 42-0...those scores are burnt into my memory for some reason.

All that to say, Salem is one hell of a football program, always extremely tight and fundamentally sound, and one I would've killed to have came up through. Glad to have them on board.

Yes, tweeting negative messages at players, recruits, and coaches is stupid and should never happen. I don't understand it either.

BUT, maybe VT Twitter would not be so negative if the staff won (important) games, and thus, was able to recruit better. Putting that solely on Twitter content is not reality. Top talent coming here has been an issue for a long while that pre-dates Twitter's recent popularity with recruits.

Nope, can't say that I did. Although that reminded me of a funny story... One of our friends was getting married in Blacksburg. After the rehearsal dinner some of us went downtown (which is interesting in itself but the looks I got being 8 months pregnant--somebody had to DD--- were very amusing). One of our other friends and some friend of the groom got drunk and ended up wandering Christiansburg looking for pizza and prostitutes.
