Did Brady say "Hokies by 5" at the :13 mark of the 1st Half?

I don't have a screen grab, but during the TO at the :13 mark, I swear I heard him say something like "HOKIE 5" or "HOKIES BY 5"

Anybody else catch that, have proof?

Yea, we thought we heard the same thing and chuckled. Not sure what he was actually trying to say.

Chiefs need to get their ass in gear if they want to avoid a blowout.

Pretty sure he said "Let's Go!" Because that's what he always says

Can't tell. Jim Nantz is flapping his gums. Kind of sounds like it though.

Thought I heard the same thing as well. Wondering if that's one Bruce Arian's plays.

Thought I heard Hokie by 5. Figured it might have been an Arians playcall/formation as five receivers lined up.

I thought I heard it as like Hokie Bird 5

No! No! Hokie. Hokie Bird, go!

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

Go hokie go hokie go hokie go

Well, that should pretty much end the Danny Coale catch debate when the former Michigan QB was caught on national TV saying "No. No. Hokies. Hokies by 5." (To be fair, he did play for Michigan so he should have said "Hokies by 6".)

Brady is calling off the called play and telling the staff to run the "Hokie by 5" play and.... TOUCHDOWN! That dude is unbelievable.

It wasn't "Hokies by 5!", it was "Call PI on that guy!" pointing at Mathieu.

He was probably telling the refs what penalty they need to call next...

So.many.flags!!

In the end, I can comfortably say the refs had no impact on the winner of the game. But, had it been closer, they could have. The worst play I saw was the defensive holding that cost the Chiefs an interception. But in the end, it was the Chiefs offensive line that cost them the game. And, hats off to Bowles for calling a he'll of a defensive game.

Hill was shut down over the top
Kelce was free to get yards in the middle, but shallow to mid
They didn't have any other threat in the passing game
Running game had no impact
The DL was getting manhandled at the point of attack

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Maybe, awful lot of those penalties were on third downs that extended the drives and shifted momentum. Mahommes was definitely off and loosing two starters on the o-line did not help but the zebras definitely had a negative impact on the game last night.

I felt like with the coaching involved in this game, the lack of simple plays by KC to offset the rush was puzzling. I recall the 04 or 05 super bowl, where the Patriots ran screen after screen after screen to offset the Philly rush. It just didn't add up to me.

Andy Reid is a good coach, right up until he's not. There's your answer

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

They definitely came at the worst possible times. Refs should be as invisible as possible in championship games. Ticky tack holds and personal fouls distract from the game.

Hard to say definitively, a lot of those ticky tack calls extended drives that had essentially been stopped. Gotta be disheartening for the D (not to mention wearing them down physically, being on the field that much longer).

But also, you mention the called back, obviously we can't say what KC woulda done, had it not gotten overturned, but that was a potential 14 point swing.

That offsides on the FG probably doesn't get called in the SB 9 times out of 10...that's another 4 swing.

The PI in the end zone was atrocious. I don't remember what down that play was, but there was 10 seconds left in the half. Good chance TB takes the FG there, that's another potential 4 points. (not to mention the bad PI call just before that that got them into scoring position).

Would the Chiefs had won with an evenly called game? Who knows, the O-Line had Mahomes running for his life all night...but the score woulda definitely looked a whole lot different, that's for damn sure.

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

I agree. If there were some flags that were keeping the Chiefs out of the end zone, I would be more upset. But it definitely affected the margin.

FTR, I wanted Bruce, Nick and Cody to get the W, but really didn't give a flip about that game. #HTTRFT

I mean, there is really no question that it wasn't evenly called.

Also, I had no dog in this one.

Fun fact, Brady was on the beneficiary end of the most DPI calls since 1985 this year!

The offsides on the FG should definitely be called 100% of the time. Two players on the defense lined up in the neutral zone. They were a crescent moon not a line.

should be, but isn't. NFL ref's inconsistency is awful.

The only thing they are consistent with is giving Brady led teams an edge ;)

Offsides is offsides, you don't get a free pass because it's the super bowl... I agree some of the interference/holding calls were sketchy but offsides isn't really a matter of interpretation.

Deposit whiskey, receive wisdom.

O-Line had Mahomes running for his life all night

Another fun fact, during the game last night, Mahomes ran for 497 yards pre-throw/sack

He was amazing at getting the ball off a half heartbeat before getting creamed after running around like Chicken Little.

That one that he flicked 30 yards down field, accurately, while laid out horizontally was something else!

And it hit the receiver right in the face.

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

Not sure where to put this, so i'll just leave it here....

Yes, that's possible, heck maybe probable. I just thought the whole situation was funny.

They should have had a 3rd person involved that placed the bet and didn't run onto the field... then they probably would have gotten away easier on a stupid prop bet to begin with

Yep, never show them your hand.

No he didn't.

I heard "Virginia Tech is better than Michigan".

Might be mistaken, probably not tho

yes he did! i spent about 20 minutes rewinding it to confirm and then giggling when I did.

man they got some calls though. Some real ticky tack PI calls that haven't been called all season. I'm not sure what defenders are supposed to do when the offensive player can man handle you but you cant breathe on them. The offsides on the field goal was a good call but my goodness, talk about boneheaded play beating yourself.

That being said KC would've lost anyway; it would've been closer but they still would've lost. Their OLine was swiss cheese and more time on the field probably would've eventually killed Mahomes.
