The word of the day for our game tomorrow is REBOUND! 😳
I'm honestly really surprised by Miami.
Dear Clemson,
I like that we beat them twice, they lose in the first round, and they were still projected two seeds higher than us before our game with UNC.
We only beat them once. But they finished 5th in the conference and only played 2 more games. I agree with you 100%
Yeah I think between playing them early and all the cancellations, I duplicated that game in my head (or swapped them for Miami).
This UNC team could Not be a worse opponent for the Hokies.
Well that sounds like the 2020 ACCT all over again
Don't miss, they can't rebound. Taps forehead.
Gonna hope they tired themselves out tonight trying to put up a 50 piece on ND
It's a nightmare matchup. UNC is playing well and Kessler is making rather large strides in his development.
You would have to think we are the underdogs going in.
FWIW UNC is a 3.5 pt favorite right now.
Need Aluma to nail an early 3 or two and Radford hitting one or two early would really open up the floor offensively.
What we really need is a Microwave on high power.
Dookies out for COVID apparently
https://theathletic.com/news/duke-out-of-acc-tournament-due-to-positive-...
Yikes they really needed these games
That was probably the last game of the year for the Dukies. They needed at least one more win to get into the big dance.
Unless their are COVID cancelations in the tourney and they are finding fill ins.
Fill ins have to come from the team rankings, I doubt duke will end up high enough.
If they were playing they'd technically have a chance at winning the whole thing, stranger things have happened.
Confirmed. AD stated their season is done.
So basically Duke shuts it down before getting shut out of the NCAA tourney.
yup... a classic "You can't fire me! I quit!!!" play
So UVA get a pass into the next round?
Florida State does to the Semi's.
Damn theyll end up with a three day bye.
They haven't played since their March 6th loss to Notre Dame, meaning they'll be on a six day bye. Additionally, their scouting will not have had as much time to prepare for us or UNC, as they had been preparing for Duke
Does our game move up to 7 PM?
It looks like we got a slight bump up to 8:30.
That sure would have nice as opposed to starting at bedtime...
Syracuse and UVA are tied up at 69-69 with 29 seconds to go.
And loluva pulls one out of their asses
Nice
UVA survives and will play the winner of Georgia Tech and Miami
Duke, Kentucky, and Michigan State may all be out this year after both UK and MSU lost this morning
Word around the Midwest is that MSU locked up a tourney bid by beating Michiganin the last game of the regular season this past weekend. I kinda hope it's not true, but the way the big 10 has been ranked all year, I suspect it is.
The gambling apps seem to think they are locked up too at like -1000 for MSU to make the tourney
They'll be an interesting case. They're #56 in Kenpom, #66 in BPI, and #67 in NET.
Prior to today Lunardi had them as a last four bye. I'd say they're squarely on the bubble and need a few things to fall their way.
UCLA and Boise St losing definitely helps MSU chances
UCLA is pretty solidly in, I agree Boise should be way out but Lunardi seems to like them
Georgetown and Villanova is a dandy as well. 70-70 with 40 seconds left.
down goes Nova
Wonder how they'll be seeded with Gillespie out for the season. They're obviously not the same team without him.
Minnesota apparently still hasn't made their way out of the locker room to start the first half.
they're awake now... this game is heading to VT/NCST 2019 level scoring
Hope you guys are tuned in. Because they tipped 25-mins early.
COVID takes another team out. LOLUVA out of the ACC tourney with a positive test.
Why did we have to finished 3rd not fourth.
Must not have wanted it
Only 7 days til the NCAA Tournament. They might be forced to miss the big dance, too.
Hate to see it
I wonder what the selection committee will do with UVA or any other team that ends the season with covid. If UVA is a 4 seed, they might gift a random 13 seed to the second round.
I feel like they would just slide all the seeds up one spot and pull another team in off the bubble rather than not fill the game
There are protocols in place to have teams to swap into the bracket if a team can't play, so at least in theory that 13 seed would just play a bubble team. Unless things go completely haywire, which what are the odds of that.....

Can't help but remember all of the quotes from their football players/coaches about dedication and discipline last September.

Boy there were way more people commenting and throwing shade about this than I originally thought.
Look I'm not going to say that their basketball season possibly being over before the tournament begins is a delayed karmic reaction to earlier events. But I'm not saying that it isn't.
Same idiot who said: "Discipline = Freedom"
Someone with access should post a picture of themselves drinking beer out of the Commonwealth Cup while watching GT play tomorrow night.
Someone should reach out to Bronco and his staff to see what he/they think about this.
UVA now out of ACC with positive test
Georgia Tech now auto advances to the Championship.
No word yet on whether this ends UVA season.

Referenced in the article, but for those who don't want to click...
They need seven consecutive days of negative tests. It also says that as along as they have 5 healthy/available players the NCAA will let them play.
If they only have 5 players available i say we give them a one seed so they can lose again.
Wow. I mean, that just blows for so many reasons. As much as I despise the Hoos this is not how I want to see them go out. This close to the NCAA tourney puts their status for that in major jeopardy as well.
Turned on Alabama - Miss St and its a 57-21 blowout. L
Coaches getting at it in Michigan - Maryland game. Dwight Howard was ejected after having to be restrained from going after Mark Turgeon.
Juwan or Dwight? Because if Dwight was there then he was a ways away from Philly LOL (I knew what you meant Rob, bussing ya chops)
.....chops bussed....palm face....
Kansas is withdrawing from the Big 12 tourney due to a positive covid case
So you have to wonder if contact tracing then eliminates Oklahoma too. Both will be like Virginia and Syracuse
How do you even pick a bracket this year?
Any team can be done given the 7 day requirement for negative tests
This is why the NCAA should've pushed back the tourney. Give enough space between conference tourneys and the dance to ensure all teams can be healthy.
Pick the prettiest colors and hope for the best
This whole legal sports betting thing is the tits. Georgetown and Okie State have made me stupid money this week
According to Andy Katz, if Georgetown wins the Big East, the bid they might be stealing could be Syracuse
Watching Anthony Harris, Armando Bacot, and MJ Walker makes me wonder how good we could have been if we closed on these three in recruiting where we finished 2nd on all of them.
Buzz would have just taken them to A&M when he left, so probably not any different than we are now.
But that's fine, Young is building a heck of a program here right now and we'll be landing guys like that on the regular soon enough.
How are there so many UNC fans at these tourney games?
Proximity, I reckon.
Tickets were supposed to be for family of players and coaches.
Yeah, but I'm sure the ACC offices got some and that's full of Tarholes.
Apparently the ACC refs were given tickets for their families. It would explain the abundance of UNC fans.
TIC (sort of)
Those are the officials.
Norfolk State is back in the Dance as is Slick Rick and Iona. Potential bid steals coming from Oregon State, Cincy, and Grown who's currently up by 30 on Creighton in the Big East champ game.
I feel like the way Alvarado plays defense would get called as reach in fouls all game for anyone else
He is definitely a theatrical act as well but gt play really good stuff
For those of you who have not been watching the Big 12 tournament, Cade Cunningham is must-watch TV
Florida state was so close to a double in the acc this year but lost on the last day to notre dame and now looks to be going down to GT on the title game.
Love seeing Georgetown win. Grew up as a bit of a fan of theirs
Even better that them getting in probably puts old Big East rival Syracuse out.
Jimmy will rally for them to get in and push us out.
I would not want to be the higher seed that draws Georgia Tech, Oregon St, or Georgetown in the first round
I'm happy for the Hoyas. Georgetown bball was one of my first serious sports loves after the Philly teams. I even toured the school on my college tour road trip to VA and NC. It's gone away, but cool to see them back dancing
Yeah G-Town under John Thompson was so much fun to watch in the late 80s early 90s....then very much like the Redskins, they disappeared as a competitive team for about 25 years. Patrick Ewing has done a great job getting his kind of guys and getting alot out of them.
Is GT's ACC title the most fraudulent ever?
Not just the players and coaches affected by the virus testing. Some officials for the tournament just got sent home too. Hopefully they have plenty of qualified refs for to make it through all the games.
