Another support staff blow.

People say her goldfish vet's godparents are from there and it's just the right move at this time, plus no state income tax. Just normal turnover, nothing to see here, please disperse.

What college staffer isn't going to take a job when the NFL calls? Are you serious?

I get why this is funny but leaving for the NFL is not a lateral move

Staff turnover is never exciting to hear, but with Leah Joseph and Beau Davidson it feels different. Leaving a job for a promotion or to be closer to family is never a bad thing and I suspect most people on TKP would make similar decisions based upon what is right for their family. I'd rather give a cheers to both for their successes at VT which are now leading to better situations for them personally.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

Actually her dad played football for tech lol

The heat is on. Fuente is feeling the pressure to perform, and people jump ship, especially if it looks to be taking water

Also, sometimes people say yes to promotions.

There's nothing wrong with it being a little bit from Column A and a little bit from Column B.

Or almost none from column A and almost everything from column B.

With the exception of Beau Davidson, which I'll give you is curious: who hasn't taken a bigger job promotion recently.

Tapp: Vandy -> VT -> NFL
Leah Joseph: Volleyball -> Football -> NFL
Bartelstein: TCU -> VT -> College Football Playoff

Wiggins, Alex White, I'm sure there are others...

Alex White, I'm sure there are others

Alex was going to leave the second UNC made even the slightest of openings for her. She did a fantastic job in her role, and it was deserving, but she was never going to stay.

Yeah, but even knowing that she still came up the ranks, even if it was quick: App State -> VT -> UNC.

I know we always talk homecomings, but you still have to be good enough that someone wants to bring you home.

Yeah all that in about two years, but Carolina is her alma mater, she was gone if they made the slightest move of interest.

I understand why both Davidson and Joseph are taking on their new roles. Both are good moves for the individuals involved with the motivations they have.

I also think that seeing recruiting staff leaving for other jobs offers a little insight. Our recruiting, according to virtually every conversation we have on this site, is not in good form. But our recruiting people have opportunities to move on. I think this suggests that the 'support staff' is not the problem.

I think this is a valid point. We can have all the talent support staff and resources in the world, but I think our overall recruiting ceiling with this staff is pretty much being realized.

The overall recruiting ceiling is almost entirely on the alumni and fanbase, not the coaches.

I disagree. Maryland's Athletics department is in horrendous financial shape and they consistently out-recruit us. They have a staff full of recruiters. Coaching is lacking, granted. Also UVA has plenty of financial resources and has only managed to be mediocre at absolute best at football. Money and resources is definitely necessary to a large extent, but you need the right people running the ship too.

Or it could be that the support staff is doing a herculean effort based on how small the staff is and shit falls through the cracks when you're understaffed. So the support staff is the problem, just not the people in those roles.

I think this really nails it on the head. I keep coming back to the Bitter article that came out earlier...all of those guys in the recruiting office are great people and deserve good things to happen to them, even if it means leaving VT.

Beau and Leah were both in their roles for this cycle. If you compile the recruits who have committed since they were in their jobs, it's probably an incredible list.

Good for her and Beau. Can never fault anyone for making a move that betters their career or helps their family.

Also, both sides of this don't have to be mutually exclusive. People can leave to take better positions, and it's also not unreasonable to think that people around the program think there's at least a strong possibility that this staff won't be here come December. I think people know how much is riding on this season for the staff in its current iteration.

not sure if this is really funny, kinda gauche, or both, but i'm leaning towards both

Funny BECAUSE it's gauche.
