Noticed we had one of these for the other MCU shows, but not one for What If...? yet. (what a punctuation nightmare)
These have been kind of fun to watch, but really haven't packed the same emotional punch or had the story weight of the other shows so far. There have been some really good bits, some fun thought experiments and all, but that was about the extent of it.
I go back and forth on the animation style, sometimes loving it and sometimes hating it. I think i've narrowed down my dislike to the way the noses disappear in front shots of characters

The Black Panther as Star Lord episode had a lot of feel good moments, but I think the show has really shown some depth with today's (9/1) episode with Dr. Strange and his transformation from grief into obsession into madness. Kind of parallels the Wandavision arc somewhat, but I don't think it really takes away from the experience at all. Plus it has the added benefit of showing one of the multi-verses collapse.

I laughed hysterically at the end of the T'Challa as Starlord. He brought peace and love everywhere, until EGO ate the entire universe because Peter Quill wasn't Starlord.
That is about what I expected this show to be. Ive been too busy with work to watch anything recently, but I'm looking forward to binging this if it's fun to watch yet not really deep.
Yeah, I didn't mean it as a complaint so much as a description. Short form storytelling is a different animal than long form. I've enjoyed the episodes so far, especially 1 (I loved Hayley Atwell in the movies, in Agent Carter and also in this episode) and 4, but I haven't walked away from any of them feeling like it was a waste of my time.
Korath was adorable in the 2nd episode. Wonder if they're gonna try and tie these together somehow or if they're all stand alones
This week's Marvel Zombies episode was the weakest of the season so far. I was very "meh" about it. It just felt like every zombie trope movie just with Marvel characters. Last week's Doctor Strange episode was 1000x better.
I agree that it wasn't as good as last weeks, but it was a lot of fun to watch regardless. It had a "what if your friends made a zombie movie"-feel to it
edit: also, "Wingardium Leviosa" was hilarious
This week's episode (Killmonger) really felt like the weakest entry in the series so far. It suffered from some of the same problems that Black Panther did, namely the timeline felt too rushed. Some guy shows up out of nowhere and is immediately thrust into huge positions of trust and authority. I felt like it could have benefitted from some time gaps, "6 months later..." that kind of thing.
Those considerations aside, the battle scene was interesting and one of the few places where it established how Killmonger could be viewed publicly and thus earn some of the given respect. I also thought the de-aging of characters due to the timeline shift was a nice touch.
Ok, today's episode (Ultron) has been the best of the batch so far and its not even close.
Lots of movie callbacks (and previous episode callbaks), puns, different worlds aplenty and Hawkeye and Black Widow kicking ass and taking names (er name?). Enjoyable from start to finish. Plus lots of beautiful shots/sequences. Really my only nitpick is the walk sequence in the archives is kind of janky.

... I don't get the infinity stones working outside of their universe after explicitly stating that they wouldn't in Loki, but ok.
Yeah I was confused by this is well, but now rethinking it, I dont think they ever explicitly stated that as the reason and everyone just assumed the same rules apply from the comics. It's possible they don't work in the TVA for the same reason that magic doesn't work there.
Ultron spoilers:
My thought, as far I know the reigning theory is TVA is quantum realm as opposed to the universes/multiverse. The movies have been very clear that the quantum realm is a thing unto itself, sooooo maybe it's like the opposite side of the coin so to speak from the multiverse which allowed the TVA to control certain things.
There is also no real explanation for ultron getting into the watchers "area" so so it might also be "hey look at this random impact making it difficult for this super person"
Eh, all I know is they need to have some lighter stories. All of rehearsal stories is getting the wife down. Who do they think they are, DC?
