My son has his first U8 travel soccer game at 2:30 tomorrow, so watching the game live is not going to work for me. With the ACC Network Extra / ESPN3 stuff...does anyone know if the games are typically able to have a replay?
I saw someone on twitter a couple days ago suggesting the game might be blacked out in the Hampton Roads area...I can't recall whether or not games get blacked out in certain markets, but if so, does anyone know where to find out if it will be?

All the games on ESPn Xtra or ACCN were available on demand via replay starting about 20 minutes was over last year, through the ESPN app on a smart TV, but I do think your subscription to the TV provider must include the channel it's on.
So it is not on regular ACCN? Was hoping I could just watch on YoutubeTV, guess that was too hopefull
Yeah... It's a little more complicated with ACCNxtra. Your YoutubeTV subscription WILL allow you to watch the game, but you will have to make sure you are logged into the ESPN app on smart TV or streaming device/website if watching on a computer, and sign in to the ESPN app with YoutubeTV as your TV provider, then you should be able to access the ACC Network xtra games.
Shenanigans
Yeah it's a little annoying but at least you'll be able to watch the game.
The game will not be on any broadcast channels in the Tri Cities market. My first time seeing the footage will be when Joe sends it to me for the review. Stinks.
Any chance you can use a VPN to make it work? Worked for me when I was in Europe and Asia for business travel.
I could (I get it through Sling) but my parents wifi is too weak to support streaming tv.
You may be surprised. I have streamed on a 5 mbps internet connection.
wifi too weak, or ISP connection is too slow?
If your home tv package includes ACCN, you can watch ACCNX live or replay through the ESPN watch app but you will have to sign in with your tv provider account info.
Here is the direct link for it.

Who is your provider?
sportsurge.net will have the game, I'm sure.
Ridiculous that we have to resort to this. Goddamn archaic 20th century broadcast laws!
Streameast is my go to. Usually only one pop up
It's showing up on the ESPN App for me as ACCNX, but also lists it available on ESPN+ which I also have.
Wow, I'm lucking out tomorrow, as the only ESPN I get on the Disney Package is ESPN+ (shouldn't the Disney Package include all forms of ESPN?). But I think these 2nd tier-type Hokie games is all I'll get on the Plus. Half tempted not to watch, since our guys seem to press when I'm watching, trying to emulate my Jack Tatum hitting ability and 4.1 speed from back in the day. But we lost the Liberty game last year when I was painting the house, so there goes that theory.
And here I am stuck in the Comcast/Xfinity never-never land for the ACCN...
Feel your pain. Way to go Swofford.
With you both. Sucks.
U8's have a travel league?
If they're good enough, you're old enough
Yup!

U12 and younger they have an "academy" focused on "individual skill and ball mastery" as a path to be ahead of the curve when trying out for the travel teams later on....my only confusion with that is that so far at practices, they really haven't done any individual skill and ball mastery stuff, mostly all short sided scrimmages.
And we do have weekly games as well. All of our home games being in Manteo, and away games in Norfolk, VB and Chesapeake. So I'm not entirely clear on what the difference is.
That doesn't sound like any sort of development program for younger kids that I've seen. Are the practices run by actual trained/certified coaches or college/high school kids? I used to help with a program like this for 8 and 9 year olds. It was only drills for the two practices a week and then did scrimmages on the weekend.
Yep, licensed coaches.
https://obxstorm.net/enrollment/academy.html
"All players regardless of age or level are carded by NCYSA as "U12 Academy". In effect this is like a large team. All players stay connected via two training sessions per week and our optional "Fun Friday" (if field space allows). Teams for competition or "game teams" are formed within the academy. The rosters for these teams may change as players develop. "
Welcome to the US Soccer fun. They had a focus on small sided and then build to bigger things...like drills that are 2v2 or 3v2, then to 4v4 or 4v5, onto 7v7 small sided scrimmages. (They've taken out the individual practice at practice seeing as that can be accomplished at home.) Gets more touches on the ball for everyone and allows the players to grow and development thru actual action. Some will evolve on their own. Some won't. The coaches should be looking at them individually during practices and pointing out what each ne should focus on over he next week or so; like the left foot, or passing square, or step overs...
Is TKP going to publish any content on this weekends game? Its like the desert over here...
I will be writing a review.
Haven't seen a lot concerning MTSU and I'd be interested in any informed takes as well. What's the line for the game? According to FPI it looks like we're given around 90% odds to win, though that doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.
It looks like their lines are quite a bit smaller than ours which should give us some advantage on both sides. They only had 344 total yards, including 96 rushing yards, in their game against Monmouth. While they won 50-15, two of those scores came from special teams and defense. Monmouth had 4 turnovers. They have not been very good for the last two seasons. We should be able to come out and run the ball on offense, and hopefully get BB some work throwing the ball. I'd love to have a 3 score lead at the half and get a lot of bodies in during the second half. Hopefully we can build on last week and the extra day of practice and come out firing on all cylinders. This should be a nice game to get some meaningful snaps but never be in question of the final outcome (I hope).
Anyone else have any insight?
They gave up 11 TFL to Monmouth I would expect our D Line to have an absolute field day.
Slightly OT but I feel like I've seen more press than usual trying to get fans to come out tomorrow. Hope Lane is respesented well! Should be a beautiful fall Blacksburg day đŠđ
Technically summer but agree it should be a spectacular day weather wise.
