Don't get me wrong, Clawson is a good coach but I was never excited with the idea of Clawson in Blacksburg.

Chadwell has the most entertaining offense on the market, would love to watch it every Saturday
Not sure he's ready for this level though, I learned the hard way that interesting offenses aren't fun to watch if you don't have studs
The bullets could just as easily be Napier or Huff. Not much head coaching experience, riskier hires, Huff especially.

Its probably most likely that Whit already has a coach in place, waiting to be announced after the season ends tomorrow.
I would suspect we'll know who the new coach is by the time we are all back to work on Monday.
I also doubt that Clawson was involved with our search. You don't re-up at Wake if you have an offer on the table from VT. The fact that he's extending now means that the tables are set elsewhere and he's cashing in while he is a hot name.

Agreed. I suspect a strategic leak during our game that focuses the discussion on the remainder of the game on who the new coach will be and how the program will be run rather than anything about UVa's last home game.
Would be such a power move to leak it so nobody focuses on UVA. Fuck 'em.

His agent definitely earned his commission. I saw Clawson's name on just about every list from a national writer just about any time a job opening came up. Like a couple of days ago I read something about UF might look at him which was total bullshit because there's no way Florida would ever hire him. That was 100% the agent and writers playing the game of "you do this for me, I'll give you breaking news info with other clients later"
Guess those rumors his agent was "leaking" paid off

I'm extremely disappointed by this. I think Clawson would win big in Blacksburg with one of the most explosive and exciting offenses in the country. With Napier likely to Florida, I'm riding the Huff train now 🚂🚆 choo choo!

At this point I don't see another P5 HC coming to VT. It's gotta be either a G5 HC moving up, or a P5 coordinator moving up. I'm hoping we're in the game for Napier, but that likely never was the case.
Hafley Elko and Mullen. Mullen is concerning but the dude wins. Freeman is a stud but high risk. I'd be ok with Elliot or Chadwell but not overjoyed.
Good for him. Clawson at Wake is an example of a coach finding their sweet spot and staying put instead of reaching for the stars and ending up failing somewhere bigger.
