Hey all. I signed in today for seat selection and it appears that we have some changes from a year ago. It looks like some sections have flipped between general public and student. Also, for reasons unknown, it looks as if the front row of student section 1 is now public:

I went looking for an email or a release from the ticket office outlining changes to seating from last year to this year and I didn't find anything. I also called the ticket office and they weren't sure either.
Has anyone on TKP received anything showing seating changes or can you point me to link that I missed?

Hey DCIMSA, I didn't receive any emails on it but I noticed that change too. Hard enough keeping the students out of the non-student section as it was so it will be a full time job keeping that row clear of students.

Yay!! just renewed my same seats from last year- for an additional $430.00... yay!!! There is not much squeeze left in this turnip for Whit. Let's see what season ticket sales look like this year. At ASU- I could get 50 yard line season tix for the price of my increase alone and no donation required. I am part of the problem I suppose.
I renewed Monday. Worse seats in football and basketball for an additional $1100. Not great Bob.
Its ridiculous. 2 seasons ago we won 3 games. Like I said- compare this to ASU, many others. Their tickets are stupid cheap, and there is public good tailgate parking for 15 bucks a game. There really is no comparison. I get that there is alot to do in PHX- but come on.

I am basically in the same boat, my football tickets went from double HH to double NN and further towards the sideline for an increase in money. My BB tickets changed from row E to L for almost double the money. Not happy Bob.
I won't get into the 100% misleading advertising "here is the hokieclub/donation level you need to be in to re-new your seats" - sure. My donation level allowed me ACCESS to buckets of seats, yes. You didn't say those seats would be more expensive this season. NOWHERE did it say that.
Last year general admission WBB seats were $80 and reserved seats were $90. I picked my seats and reserved them. This year general admission WBB seats were $80, but reserved seats were $160. My seats that I have had for the last two years, GONE. So I am paying a lot more for seats that are nowhere near as good.
This seems poorly handled to me, I don't have seat so just an outsider, but I know people at other places that have had their seats for 40 years. When they do this repeating they always give the current owners a chance to keep their seats and this doesn't sound like they have done that.
My priority was 2200. Never ever been an issue getting my tickets in the past. I might be a victim of the success the team has had the last two years.
I still don't know when I'm supposed to participate in my reseating. Such a convoluted process and, I agree, too expensive for the product we're receiving.
Tech sent an email a couple weeks ago with day and time, a reminder yesterday, and a reminder day of.
I got none of these. Been a season ticket holder for some time and haven't had issues previously with notifications. Called today and got my date and time. No idea what the issue was - we'll see how it goes from here.

I'm guessing you've probably noticed that EVERYTHING is more expensive.
Inflation has touched every aspect of everything. There's an actual reason for it, over and above just the changes in college football, but it's beyond the scope of this forum.
Yes, it sucks. No, I wouldn't expect it to change, though there are signs that inflation will be lower, but still present, going forward.

That term is so over/mis used it's not funny. People have zero concept. Actual price gouging is illegal. Pricing things that people "think" are expensive, outrageous, etc. is irrelevant. I think 105K for a shitty Rivian Truck is stupid. Is Rivian "price gouging"? Fuck no. Most people have no concept. If a hurricane hits your town and every grocery store conspires to raise meat prices by 600% - that's price gouging.
Price as a function of supply vs demand? Who knew?

that podcast I linked to actually digs into what exactly a price is right off the bat. Really mind blowing to think of it as more than just "how much money you have to pay to get a good."
Is the Rivian shitty? I see them more and more in Southern California. The headlights are cute, I guess.
Let me re-phrase that- I am sure they are fine EVs... they are shitty "trucks" for 100K. You could buy 2 well equipped Tacomas for that- that haul better.
Let's be honest tho, comparing anything to a Tacoma is just unfair. Solid trucks.
I get your overall point tho. EV tech is still a decade off of being good enough for a proper truck. EV cars have come a long way in just the last 3 years tho, so there is hope.
Source: I own a Tacoma AND an EV car. Both are great. I wouldn't pay 100k for a Rivian (or an F150 lightning for that matter) right now but who knows, maybe in 10 years they'll actually be decent trucks.
Run screaming from a Cybertruck. Found out today they are considered rare and unusual so did not have to go through the NHTSA testing for vehicles. So no crash test or other safety tests for them. Tesla decided they were safe and that was enough for government.
Being electric, they have a crazy amount of torque. But, yea, payload/tow capacity isn't anything for EV trucks to brag about. And I have no idea if having 4 electrical engines (one on each tire) provides any advantage in difficult and slippery terrains, but it does sound cool. They are also very pretty for a truck. And for $100K+, they are crazy expensive.
So, yea, a pretty truck with unique features for people with crazy disposable income that will never have to haul anything in their life. They're perfect for people here in Orange County.
Isn't that kinda his job? To maximize revenue for the athletic department? Get as much juice out of the metaphorical fruit as possible? Haven't we all agreed that's what we need to do to compete at the highest level?
This is such a silly thread! Not sure how Lane Stadium Seating Changes thread led into various pontifications on EV vehicles or EV trucks in particular. So silly. Guessing nobody that is commenting owns one? Anyway, living here in the OC and having friends that own Cybertrucks and also Rivians I will say they are awesome vehicles. Don't hate on what you haven't experienced personally. The commenter talking about the Cybertruck safety protocols... so freaking funny! Obviously you haven't seen one or ridden one... the thing is a TANK. The Rivian SUV in particular is a terrific vehicle... they may not make it due to cost issues but a solid vehicle nonetheless. Do your homework folks!

I have no thoughts on the cyber truck safety issue except to point out (as a former crash test research engineer) that weight/"solidness" has historically had an inversely proportional relationship to safety. When we first started doing tests on trucks from the big three, they were revealed to be death traps. The car designers (Toyota, Honda) made safer trucks despite not being as big or solid feelings. The other guys caught on eventually.
