Judging by the gifs it was a game that was pretty in hand. Carolina is in a freefall. That's a shame *chews popcorn*
It was until it wasn't. UNC finally got their poop in a group and from 6:00 to about 3:00 they were on a roll and VT was having serious issues. The boys managed to regroup and get back in control of things, but for a while it looked like they had gone ice cold just as UNC got fired up.
Yeah that was my only gripe, I feel like we let Minnesota back in the game as well previously. I'd like for us to step on some throats in those situations, but still a great win.
We take way too long to adjust to pressure defense. Our passing has been pretty lackluster for pretty much every game so far. Those things combined have been horrid when the other team goes full court press or trap defense on us.
I agree with the sentiment, but Minnesota did not get back in that game.
I think they got hesitant on D because any contact was being called and everyone was in foul trouble. They had to lay back a little and UNC took advantage. If we don't turn the ball over during that same stretch, then no issue, we keep a nice lead. But once we got to that 3 minute mark they were able to regroup and start defending again. Making the FT's after barely being to the line all game was so crucial. What a solid win! Even if Bacot plays, I think MJ gets less minutes and Kidd/Poteat get more, and it ends up being a tight game the whole way.
Part of getting there shit together was the 25-5 free throw advantage the ref's gave them.
Not sure we deserved to be ranked yet. The loss in Charleston was not a good one and the pollsters gave us almost no love last week. We beat Dayton and OKST this week and we'll crack the top 25 depending on what else happens.

Fair enough, but I am not sure the pollsters really pay attention to the KenPom rankings. It may not hurt us when it comes to the dance, but any school with the words "College of" in their name doesn't get much respect in basketball or football.
Wouldn't be so sure about that. Charleston was 28th in the AP Poll this past week and there's a good chance they'll be Top 25 when the new poll releases in a couple hours. Considering they're 8-1 with the toughest part of their schedule behind them, there's a really good chance they'll be a Top 25 team for most of the season. Losing a road game to them isn't a bad loss at all.
Yeah, but their one loss was to a (soon to be) unranked 5-4 team that we have already beaten. That's not going to help them come march when that team is on their record setting 25th straight loss...
AP poll is out. Charleston is 27th and we are 29th. UNC got 1 vote at 25.
NET rankings are also out. We are 41, with our loss at Charleston being a Q1 loss.
It's great CoC is getting recognized and is ranked well in NET. Watching the game, I felt VT was the better team that didnt hit shots like they can and just didn't execute at the end. If CoC is a top 25 team, then VT is too.

Personally, I think all of the transfers are a good thing. There might be 5 or 6 P5 caliber players on this team. The more leave the more space we have to pick up quality replacements. We need the attrition if we want to get better. And the sooner the better.
I've been critical of the roster, but there are more than 5-6 players on the team that can play for us/in the ACC. We have to be fair here. Off the top of my head - Thomas, Delane, Wright, Lawson, Wells (yes- he's a servicable ACC QB with better players around him), Gallo, Pollard, Jenkins, Stroman, Moore, King, McCray, Jones- they can all play for us- maybe not all ACC level, but they can play for VT.
Add to that Strong and Fuga.
Yes forgot about strong, and Fuga has gotten better but to be where we want, he would need to be the 5-6th DT- not 2-3rd
