Lot 18 tailgates aren't the same without the bullwhip.

This is a true statement.

The bullwhip is pretty awesome. Just remember..... No cracking the bullwhip while wearing FlippinHokie's Heels and DannyCoaleisMySpiritAnimal's orange and maroon banana hammock. That could end badly.

I have seen the bullwhip and Flippin's heels. The mental image of DCIMSA wearing the heels and an orange and maroon banana hammock is what forced me to create my TKP account. I could only imagine the pain inflicted by the bullwhip if the person were to miss.

What about this table?

We are a delightful group of individuals and have lots of fun in Lot 18.

My little Hokie Haven. Recently invaded by my 3 year old, who loves playing Goat Simulator.

I love this chair.

Shameless TKP plug.

...oh I'm also a Cowboys fan.

Oof that cowboys banner ruins the whole atmosphere...🤮

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

I had to give them something

Where did you get the VT vs. WVU poster?

I just had the picture blown up at Walgreens/CVS and then framed it.

This is why I'm disappointed that they never released an HD version of our Marvel cover vs FSU from a few years ago.

Agreed! I have been looking for a high quality version since I saw it on some show on ESPN. Even asked on here years ago if anyone had found it. Anyone?

A little late but where did you get that Playstation light? Thing is dope.

1) Antonio Freemans mouthpiece from his last college game.
2) The pattern that was used to pour "Skipper"

Need to see a photo of the Skipper pattern.

I'll have to get that in the morning. It's hanging in our conference room. Both Skipper patterns.

That's phenomenal.

(I also fixed the embed code for you.)

Thanks Joe! That's my first attempt at a picture share. Work in progress.
There's an incredible story behind the creation of the Skipper. If you ever come through Roanoke you should stop through our office. Dad poured Skipper II and loves to tell the story.

What's the high-level? And how did you come into the possession of something so unique?

When Homer Hickam and Butch (VTCC members during the era when VMI used our lack of a canon as a means to poke fun at VPI) went searching for a solution to their lack of firepower my grandad caught wind of it. He was part owner of Virginia Foundry, and as a former Corp Cadet, he responded back and poured the original Skipper free of charge. In the late 70s the Corp overcharged the canon and blew it up (it was made of brass and lacked a steel reinforced sleeve). As a call of duty, my father subsequently took it upon himself to create Skipper II. The current skipper is an exact replica of a 3" Confederate field rifle found at Gettysburg.

For those that are no aware Homer Hickam wrote an autobiography called 'Rocket Boys' that was later turned into a movie called 'October Sky' that starred a young Jake Gylllenhaal as Homer Hickam. There is nothing about his college days in the movie but its a pretty amazing story of a kid coming up from nothing in a dying coal town in West Virginia who went on to become an engineer at NASA. I recommend it.

Having grown up in WV, 'October Sky' was the "Teacher's not feeling it today" movie. It's a great movie but I'll be fine if I never see it again.

Homer came and spoke at my high school once though. That was neat.

I am sure no one is going to be visiting the library any time soon, but there is an awesome display on Skipper and its history, along with some great artifacts, on the 4th floor near the Torg bridge study area. If you are on campus and practicing proper social distancing, I highly suggest it.

In the late 70s the Corp overcharged the canon and blew it up ....

Actually was 1982. The shot was fired somewhere near the chappel. I was in my dorm at Vawter, and it shook the building. Blew the safety plug on the barrel through a (I think it was a 4th floor) window in Slusher.

I stand corrected. I knew it was sometime near the time that I was born, but without going over the details I just took an estimate. I do know that car windows and possibly a dorm window were smashed. If that would have happened today you better believe that there wouldn't have been another Skipper.

Agreed, what a showpiece!

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

Damn, thats pretty dope.

Any way you can get a closeup of the framed piece? Looks like a worthy read.

Also, because I'm bored and I literally just moved into the building and have nothing else to do. My office I painted Maroon. Have lots of fun things for the wall but just have never put it up. Office is a mess cause I've been busy.

I don't have a Hokie room yet (kids take up a lot of space if y'all didn't know. But in our walk in closet I have a Frank Beamer signed "25" game worn helmet, a Hughes game worn Frank Beamer jersey, a Hokie stone just like the one in the tunnel, a signed Frank Beamer picture from 1989, signed footballs and posters from the 2016/17 team including coaches, signed picture from women's the golf team this year and softball team from 2016.

Not completely finished yet but we have a good start.

Additionally, if anyone can advise where to get an actual piece of hokie stone from I would greatly appreciate the help!

Always Jumping even from hours away.

pretty sure they just want a blank slab they can mount on the wall. Although, they'll need more than command strips to hold that up.

I did see someone had made fake tunnel entrances somewhere once. I think the stone was made out of foam or something...

I, too, enjoy the Golden Girls.

These are some of my mini helmets. I have all the helmets from 1960-present (not all displayed) and the last picture has some random ones that were never worn in a game.

If you got some maroon and orange lights for that tree, that would just be the best.

I'm already a few steps ahead of you....I'll try to remember to take a picture and post my Hokie christmas tree in December.

Here's my home office set-up. Among other personal items and mementos, I have 45 mini-helmets, Tyrod's visor from a preseason Ravens game, a signed Chris Ellis football and Darren Evans's practice gloves from the Colts. I think you did everything on Imgur right.

Probably just chose the wrong button over the comment box.

Well my golf team today was like my effort to put up these pictures (only way I am seeing good golf today is watching the golf channel), so let me try that right now. Used the link button, copied and pasted the "direct link" from imgur and yep, my day of failures is now complete....fortunately only 15 minutes left of it. Say goodnight Gracie

I got 2 VTs on clothes, 2 on cars and one on the golf bag.

I can't get over the VT on your boat dock. Did your son use both paint and stain? It came out amazing, and blends right in with the dock.

Alright, Lewis, now you're just bragging.

Seriously though, impressive set up you've got. Jealous of that boat dock.

Actually it was paint and then layers of outdoor varnish. Don't know that many details, just showed up under the christmas tree three years ago. Probably my favorite Xmas gift ever.

That collection is OUTTA WHACK!

Stained concrete?

experimental stained concrete. I want to polish it but polish a huge VT into at well if that makes sense. I have a massive garage and my pool table area was once a work station. As you can see I don't have the need for it so I made use of the space for a pool table. My wife just came home to it one day. :)

Did you put a clear coat over it?

Not a super timely post, but wanted to contribute nonetheless. After moving, had to locate it, but one of my favorite pieces of memorabilia is the program from when the Yankees came to play our Baseball team in 2008 nearly a year after 4.16.2007. Despite wearing my Orange and Maroon Phillies hat, was able to snag autographs from A-Rod, Jeter, Jason Giambi, Shelley Duncan, Tony Pena and Michael Kay.

Really cool. I love it.

This is awesome!

Also if anyone comes across one of the NY / VT fitted hats in 7-3/8 I'm in the market! My fat head outgrew my 7-1/8 one :(

Mine just up and disappeared. I have absolutely no idea what the hell happened to it. Being a Yankees fan as well as a Hokie, along with it being a gift from my wife......lets just say im not happy about it.

Reviving this old thread...

Early stages of the Hokies/Niners cave build. Got the shelves up and a bunch of my memorabilia put up. We moved in at the beginning of the year but had a preemie little girl...so it's been a slow process getting this how I eventually want it.

If anyone has a line on getting some raw Hokie Stone planks, slabs, etc. it's very high on the list.

I'll update on here as we get more stuff moved over, unpacked, and put up. Thanks for checking it out.

Love the replica Commonwealth Cup. I've been trying to get my hands on one.

Those mini Mandalorian helmets are incredible, even if I hate the 9ers

Thanks, I 3D print them and customize. The Din Jarin one actually has the same Alumaluster chrome paint they use on the set ($$$). I do a bunch of themed football helmet mashups and those are some of my favorites.

oh man, i hadn't thought about printing mini-helmets as display pieces.

I didn't really need a summer project, but here we are

Very nice room. If you have a dump truck, I can spot you all the stone you want. I had to blast about 12 dump truck loads out of the basement for the house the wife and I are building.

Those 2 helmets right above the Boba mask... Those look amazing. Whatever metallic maroon paint you're using looks phenomenal as a helmet. Any way I can see a better pic of them?

I posted similar pictures about a month ago on a beer thread, but I thought I would post an update in light of this thread being resurrected. Sadly, about half of my memorabilia has been stored until we can afford a real man cave, but I was able to negotiate with the boss to display some of my more nostalgic pieces.

I don't know if I'm supposed to love this or hate this, but it's evoking feelings of both.

I need to know how you got this and what it is. Like a prototype for IF they won?

I was working in the Governor's office at the time and 3M made 2 of these plates for the Governor to present to Coach Beamer in New Orleans if the Hokies won. After the loss, they appeared on my desk from the 3M rep. A sad memento of what could have been...but certainly a unique piece of Hokie memorabilia.

You can get a ratchet belt from Mission Belt. Markup is brutal, I got mine with an AE deal combined with one of their sales and was still expensive. So I made some with some ratchet belts off Aliexpressm, used any old image off the internet, glued it on the belt and then layers of Easy Cast Clear Casting Epoxy. Lot of work but cheap. Mission belt is the bottom one in the picture the rest are my homemade. Also made a ton of belts for my golf buddies back in the day.

Also made hats for everyone in my Tuesday golf group, they each got their name on the side and a symbol on the other side of whatever they wanted, Mine is pictured below. All iron ons, which then led me to ironing onto my golf shoes, think I posted those elsewhere but I'll throw that pic up again too." />
