I still like my Bullwhip
No kink shaming here, my guy
Do you pronounce it like Stewie pronounces Cool Whip?
Lot 18 tailgates aren't the same without the bullwhip.
This is a true statement.
Still have my Cadet Hokiebird centerpiece.
The bullwhip is pretty awesome. Just remember..... No cracking the bullwhip while wearing FlippinHokie's Heels and DannyCoaleisMySpiritAnimal's orange and maroon banana hammock. That could end badly.
I have seen the bullwhip and Flippin's heels. The mental image of DCIMSA wearing the heels and an orange and maroon banana hammock is what forced me to create my TKP account. I could only imagine the pain inflicted by the bullwhip if the person were to miss.
What about this table?
Y'all some freaks
We are a delightful group of individuals and have lots of fun in Lot 18.
I can confirm this! 😃
Aww.. Thanks... Come visit again :-)
Yeah they are.
You are one of us..
What about it? These things did not force me into creating a TKP account or give me nightmares that required gallons of eye bleach.... They are a required part of our random little corner of the world called Lot 18.
My little Hokie Haven. Recently invaded by my 3 year old, who loves playing Goat Simulator.
I love this chair.
Shameless TKP plug.
...oh I'm also a Cowboys fan.
Oof that cowboys banner ruins the whole atmosphere...🤮
I had to give them something
The Boys banner enhances the room... Gotta represent both teams/days of the weekend.....
Leg for the Hendrix... leg rescinded for the Cowboys :-)
and I missed it the first time - leg for the Leg.
VT, Jimi Hendrix, J Cole, Chance, Taylor & Fender guitars.... We even have the same trash can... Are we the same person??
Where did you get the VT vs. WVU poster?
I just had the picture blown up at Walgreens/CVS and then framed it.
This is why I'm disappointed that they never released an HD version of our Marvel cover vs FSU from a few years ago.
Agreed! I have been looking for a high quality version since I saw it on some show on ESPN. Even asked on here years ago if anyone had found it. Anyone?
A little late but where did you get that Playstation light? Thing is dope.
Leg lamp for the win! Love it!
I wish i still had my chair Darryl Tapp's chair😢
1) Antonio Freemans mouthpiece from his last college game.
2) The pattern that was used to pour "Skipper"
Need to see a photo of the Skipper pattern.
I'll have to get that in the morning. It's hanging in our conference room. Both Skipper patterns.
(I also fixed the embed code for you.)
Thanks Joe! That's my first attempt at a picture share. Work in progress.
There's an incredible story behind the creation of the Skipper. If you ever come through Roanoke you should stop through our office. Dad poured Skipper II and loves to tell the story.
What's the high-level? And how did you come into the possession of something so unique?
When Homer Hickam and Butch (VTCC members during the era when VMI used our lack of a canon as a means to poke fun at VPI) went searching for a solution to their lack of firepower my grandad caught wind of it. He was part owner of Virginia Foundry, and as a former Corp Cadet, he responded back and poured the original Skipper free of charge. In the late 70s the Corp overcharged the canon and blew it up (it was made of brass and lacked a steel reinforced sleeve). As a call of duty, my father subsequently took it upon himself to create Skipper II. The current skipper is an exact replica of a 3" Confederate field rifle found at Gettysburg.
For those that are no aware Homer Hickam wrote an autobiography called 'Rocket Boys' that was later turned into a movie called 'October Sky' that starred a young Jake Gylllenhaal as Homer Hickam. There is nothing about his college days in the movie but its a pretty amazing story of a kid coming up from nothing in a dying coal town in West Virginia who went on to become an engineer at NASA. I recommend it.
Having grown up in WV, 'October Sky' was the "Teacher's not feeling it today" movie. It's a great movie but I'll be fine if I never see it again.
Homer came and spoke at my high school once though. That was neat.
Thanks for sharing this.
I am sure no one is going to be visiting the library any time soon, but there is an awesome display on Skipper and its history, along with some great artifacts, on the 4th floor near the Torg bridge study area. If you are on campus and practicing proper social distancing, I highly suggest it.
Actually was 1982. The shot was fired somewhere near the chappel. I was in my dorm at Vawter, and it shook the building. Blew the safety plug on the barrel through a (I think it was a 4th floor) window in Slusher.
I stand corrected. I knew it was sometime near the time that I was born, but without going over the details I just took an estimate. I do know that car windows and possibly a dorm window were smashed. If that would have happened today you better believe that there wouldn't have been another Skipper.
Agreed, what a showpiece!
Damn, thats pretty dope.
Any way you can get a closeup of the framed piece? Looks like a worthy read.
Thanks! This is an impressive article, goes well with the forms for the cannon. Appreciate you getting the closeup pictures!
edit: Sorry, this was meant as a reply to HokieHustle.
Also, because I'm bored and I literally just moved into the building and have nothing else to do. My office I painted Maroon. Have lots of fun things for the wall but just have never put it up. Office is a mess cause I've been busy.
I don't have a Hokie room yet (kids take up a lot of space if y'all didn't know. But in our walk in closet I have a Frank Beamer signed "25" game worn helmet, a Hughes game worn Frank Beamer jersey, a Hokie stone just like the one in the tunnel, a signed Frank Beamer picture from 1989, signed footballs and posters from the 2016/17 team including coaches, signed picture from women's the golf team this year and softball team from 2016.
I've got bits and pieces around, but put this together this year and it sits in the living/dining room area pretty prominantly.
It's difficult to get everything in a centered shot because this is set up in a narrow spot as you enter my office.
Nice helmets! Quite an investment.
I don't have a room, but i have an outfit
Original sheet music to Tech Triumph from the early 1920s.
The logo certainly got better over the years.
Not completely finished yet but we have a good start.
Additionally, if anyone can advise where to get an actual piece of hokie stone from I would greatly appreciate the help!
Is this what you're looking for?
pretty sure they just want a blank slab they can mount on the wall. Although, they'll need more than command strips to hold that up.
I did see someone had made fake tunnel entrances somewhere once. I think the stone was made out of foam or something...
same lol been looking
I accidentally found mine in a dumpster on campus years and years ago hung it on a couple of those garage type hooks above my door. Unfortunately between 4 moves I've lost it.
I, too, enjoy the Golden Girls.
These are some of my mini helmets. I have all the helmets from 1960-present (not all displayed) and the last picture has some random ones that were never worn in a game.
If you got some maroon and orange lights for that tree, that would just be the best.
I'm already a few steps ahead of you....I'll try to remember to take a picture and post my Hokie christmas tree in December.
Here's my home office set-up. Among other personal items and mementos, I have 45 mini-helmets, Tyrod's visor from a preseason Ravens game, a signed Chris Ellis football and Darren Evans's practice gloves from the Colts. My father in law is also the GOAT because he surprised me and my wife with this note on our wedding day:
I feel stupid but how do I post my pics on here...I have a few solid things but not sure how to post them...Giles county education and 4 years at VT have failed me here
Get an Imgur account (or simply upload your pictures without an account and retrieve the code).
They should give you several links for sharing your image. Copy the "Direct Link".
On TKP, click the "share image" icon above the comment box and paste.
I'm not sure what category this falls under, but whichever it is I'm pretty sure I win.
My box is still sitting on top of my grandmother's basement refrigerator.
I have that box plus 3 RC cola bottles from the 99 season
McBryde construction was good to us
man cave full! just recently framed my roc game jersey for the Texans and roc game jersey for vt
Ugh, you guys are going to make me clean up my basement so I can take pictures
My two favorite Hokie things are a Shultz tray I was able to get Beamer to sign and a piece of Hokie Stone I mounted an put at the base of my stairs. Working on teaching my daughter (9 months) to hold her hand up and touch it everytime we walk down the stairs.
Shultz Express sandwich of the day and breakfast buffet were on point. Downstairs Shultz was pretty bad.
The breakfast buffet was indeed great!
ok, gonna recycle my favorites but add a new one, someone in a golf discussion said where's my golf bag, well first picture is me and my golf bag, then one of me and the Bear and my fav the sign on the dock
hmmm.....try again ok, why is this so hard...........ok, the last three were the "direct link", I surrender
I'm not a golfer, but I'm quite envious of the dock and the bear.
I think you did everything on Imgur right.
Probably just chose the wrong button over the comment box.
Well my golf team today was like my effort to put up these pictures (only way I am seeing good golf today is watching the golf channel), so let me try that right now. Used the link button, copied and pasted the "direct link" from imgur and yep, my day of failures is now complete....fortunately only 15 minutes left of it. Say goodnight Gracie
can you spot the 5 VTs?
Me with two bears
Custom made by my son
I got 2 VTs on clothes, 2 on cars and one on the golf bag.
I can't get over the VT on your boat dock. Did your son use both paint and stain? It came out amazing, and blends right in with the dock.
Alright, Lewis, now you're just bragging.
Seriously though, impressive set up you've got. Jealous of that boat dock.
Actually it was paint and then layers of outdoor varnish. Don't know that many details, just showed up under the christmas tree three years ago. Probably my favorite Xmas gift ever.
That collection is OUTTA WHACK!
experimental stained concrete. I want to polish it but polish a huge VT into at well if that makes sense. I have a massive garage and my pool table area was once a work station. As you can see I don't have the need for it so I made use of the space for a pool table. My wife just came home to it one day. :)
Did you put a clear coat over it?
Not yet. In the plans
Hokie Stones in the front yard (that desperately need a power wash)
Old seats from Cassell Coliseum in the entry way
*annoyed I cannot center the rug because of the AC vent
Basement - game/movie watch area (still a work in progress, but getting close)
Are you sure the Cassell seats are authentic? There's no gum stuck to the bottom.
hahaha, if you zoom in, you can see the marks where the gum was scraped off.
My bad, didn't zoom.
Not a super timely post, but wanted to contribute nonetheless. After moving, had to locate it, but one of my favorite pieces of memorabilia is the program from when the Yankees came to play our Baseball team in 2008 nearly a year after 4.16.2007. Despite wearing my Orange and Maroon Phillies hat, was able to snag autographs from A-Rod, Jeter, Jason Giambi, Shelley Duncan, Tony Pena and Michael Kay.
Really cool. I love it.
This is awesome!
Also if anyone comes across one of the NY / VT fitted hats in 7-3/8 I'm in the market! My fat head outgrew my 7-1/8 one :(
Mine just up and disappeared. I have absolutely no idea what the hell happened to it. Being a Yankees fan as well as a Hokie, along with it being a gift from my wife......lets just say im not happy about it.
The amount of money I would pay you for that...
Reviving this old thread...
Early stages of the Hokies/Niners cave build. Got the shelves up and a bunch of my memorabilia put up. We moved in at the beginning of the year but had a preemie little girl...so it's been a slow process getting this how I eventually want it.
If anyone has a line on getting some raw Hokie Stone planks, slabs, etc. it's very high on the list.
I'll update on here as we get more stuff moved over, unpacked, and put up. Thanks for checking it out.
Love the replica Commonwealth Cup. I've been trying to get my hands on one.
UVA has a source for them somewhere
Those mini Mandalorian helmets are incredible, even if I hate the 9ers
Thanks, I 3D print them and customize. The Din Jarin one actually has the same Alumaluster chrome paint they use on the set ($$$). I do a bunch of themed football helmet mashups and those are some of my favorites.
oh man, i hadn't thought about printing mini-helmets as display pieces.
I didn't really need a summer project, but here we are
Very nice room. If you have a dump truck, I can spot you all the stone you want. I had to blast about 12 dump truck loads out of the basement for the house the wife and I are building.
Those 2 helmets right above the Boba mask... Those look amazing. Whatever metallic maroon paint you're using looks phenomenal as a helmet. Any way I can see a better pic of them?
Color shift flex mini with custom 3D bumpers, Zuti Ballhawk mask
Anodized Maroon with candy orange "shredder" mask and custom 3D bumpers
Oh man that anodized maroon is amazing. We need to be using that right now.
I tagged the EQ staff when I posted that helmet a while ago, hopefully it was seen 🤔
Do you mind sharing what floor tile that is?
I should have extras in the garage, I'll get a pic of the box.
This hokie(bird) is showing off his "memorabilia". If you know what I mean...
I am dying 😂💀🤣☠️
Funny enough, this shirt caused quite a dust-up online yesterday between Clark Ruhland, Homefield, and VT Licensing, and sparked an interesting discussion on who actually owns designs after they are adopted and worn by a team.
I do remember and still have the shirt that was given out at one of the baseball games circa 2014 or 2015 with the double birds on the bat and with maroon 3/4 sleeves. Always liked the actual uniform one too
I love your guys' set ups. Well done well done
I posted similar pictures about a month ago on a beer thread, but I thought I would post an update in light of this thread being resurrected. Sadly, about half of my memorabilia has been stored until we can afford a real man cave, but I was able to negotiate with the boss to display some of my more nostalgic pieces.
Newest 3D printed piece added to the collection. I call it Darth Cornelson. He finds your lack of faith in running a jet sweep to the short side of the field on 3rd and 10 disturbing.
Couldn't decide on posting this here or Kenobi thread but felt this was a better fit. Will be doing a Tapp piece soon with the Revo shell as well.
360 degree rotating view
Holy hell that is so cool
Have I seen your stuff on eBay? I'm always temped to click "Buy Now" 😊
Shut up and take my money! .gif
I recently moved and there have been higher priority items besides getting the VT basement setup, but I've got all my stuff ready to go. I have all helmets in mini version dating back to 1960 season, but my favorite items are the Lunch Pail signed by Foster and the #32 Jersey from the 2007 season with the memorial ribbon patch.
The hokie Haven has evolved
Racing stripes were a bitch to paint. The maroon could use another coat but I was so fucking done.
Also, I have an autographed Vick an autographed Tyrod jersey that I need framed and then I gotta shift some things around and make room for
Very nice! Hope the Jimi wall art doesn't get replaced in you shifting.
There will always be room for Jimi!!
I don't know if I'm supposed to love this or hate this, but it's evoking feelings of both.
I need to know how you got this and what it is. Like a prototype for IF they won?
I was working in the Governor's office at the time and 3M made 2 of these plates for the Governor to present to Coach Beamer in New Orleans if the Hokies won. After the loss, they appeared on my desk from the 3M rep. A sad memento of what could have been...but certainly a unique piece of Hokie memorabilia.
That's awesome! Very unique indeed!
It's a start as we continue to unbox stuff
Found a few more items ...
Fuck, that was worth the purchase price of the house right there!
I love it!
Salt & Pepper holder, a housewarming gift made in Texas
Sign, a gift made in PDX
Anyone know where I can get a good VT belt buckle?
I bought a couple Grip 6 buckles and engraved these with a harbor freight hand held engraver.
Those turned out great. I might have to try my hand at something like this.
I've had a VT Buckle from the campus bookstore since freshman year and the maroon enamel finally broke off of it last year.
VT Buckle Ebay if wisec4g or others are interested.
You can get a ratchet belt from Mission Belt. Markup is brutal, I got mine with an AE deal combined with one of their sales and was still expensive. So I made some with some ratchet belts off Aliexpressm, used any old image off the internet, glued it on the belt and then layers of Easy Cast Clear Casting Epoxy. Lot of work but cheap. Mission belt is the bottom one in the picture the rest are my homemade. Also made a ton of belts for my golf buddies back in the day.
Also made hats for everyone in my Tuesday golf group, they each got their name on the side and a symbol on the other side of whatever they wanted, Mine is pictured below. All iron ons, which then led me to ironing onto my golf shoes, think I posted those elsewhere but I'll throw that pic up again too." />
Recent mini helmet piece commissioned by Coach Foster himself...had to go next level for these pieces for the 🐐!
Have you ever done any for Shayne Graham?
I have a batch of my raw 3D printed mini shells on the way to Shayne's painter now. I made him a mini Commonwealth Cup and a few 3D pocket helmets so far. We're working our way through his career on the pockets.
Here's my take on Shayne Graham's Hokie Stone Wall. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
I have that picture! Not hungry up I the new house yet, but it will be.
Dang that looks great! Where'd you have the wallpaper (decals?) done?
I had it custom made from a site I found a few months back...https://www.wallsauce.com/ They're located in the UK, but they did a great job and had fast shipping.
And now in the two year old thread
Slow-ass laggy two year old thread.
Absolutely beautiful space, well done
Only 2 taps?
Yeah what does this look like a hooters? P.S. I would not look good in that outfit so it's probably better it's not.
is this some optical illusion? I'm looking at the bar photos and I cannot figure out how one gets behind the bar outside of jumping over the bar.
Leg for one of the greatest TV shows ever.
* never seen it. Just heard the TikTok song.
Fourth photo. I think there is a fold up/hinges on the left side?
yeah i think i see it now. It looks like there is light shining through the bottom panel as well.
If you look at the 4th photo on the wall above the pennent I still have to hang you can see the rubber stopper on the wall, that stops the top when you lift it up, then you can upen the door. I'll take a picture tonight if I remember.
It's like one of those model train tables where you go under and pop up through the middle. /s
Dude that's fucking nice.
Needs more scotch
I want to see what this guy's mancave looks like now.
After a long few years, I finally have a manctuary again. First order of business was retrieving the legend from the attic and returning him to his rightful place. Hopefully I'll have the space in working order by football season, I have a sneaking suspicion that the team started going downhill as I packed more and more maroon and orange away.
A mock up of my dork magic, good juju, little-stitious basement. 2023 is going to be a good year.
My Way Way Better and I have recently repainted our basement and are doing a small DIY improvement project. One of them was to repaint our ~ 30 year old VT sign. Here's a pic of it on the wall. Will finish the full decor soon.
EDIT: How does one insert a photo here. My trial and error is all error.
you can insert the full image URL by using the picture icon which is the first one just about the comment entry form. Also, you need to open up public access to your photos if you are going to share them.
Got the icon part and tried six ways to Sunday inserting photo link. It's the public access item I need to look into. Many thx. Here's a leg. 👍
