I can't tell if it was coach speak or not but I loved how Lefty stressed character and intangibles with his quarterbacks.
My two favorite NFL QBs right now are Tom Brady and Russell Wilson, two guys who were two-stars guys out of high school but have all of the intangibles to play the position. The intangibles are absolutely critical at QB, hopefully Ford or Durkin can be strong leaders during their time in Blacksburg.

Does that mean he likes panCAKEs? I am still hoping Ford will start after the Focus he showed in the signing day interview. And what Hokie doesn't like a qb that can Escape and throw to the left.

Side note: Saw Lefty at Kroger yesterday. Not sure if he was buying flowers for his wife or if he's just trying to spruce up the office a bit since he's there most of his time anyways, but the man is huge. For whatever reason, I didn't notice it in interviews (probably cause he's always sitting down), but he easily stood out from the crowd. Dude was in sweats and a beanie, looked like he hadn't slept in days.

"We want to have a guy that can first throw," he said. "Then we want a guy who has the ability to have the athleticism to be able to run the football, be able to escape."
Ford wins that set of priorities. But the devil is in the details. Spring will be interesting between him and Leal. Then in the Fall the full on QB competition will be on. Gotta Love it!

I don't think it's so certain that Ford wins, based just on that comment. In reading the reviews on Ford, Durkin, and McMillian, it sounds like all of them fit that mold, with just subtle differences between them. It will be an interesting spring and summer, for sure. No matter what happens, I think we'll see Loeffler be able to come up with some truly creative schemes when these guys are ready for primetime, whenever that may be.

That's my thoughts too.
There's enough there of each and every one of them.
One may need a little more throwing coaching, another a different weak spot, etc.
One thing not mentioned there which is very important. Which one can "get it" and learn the holistic view of the offensive system, it strengths and weaknesses and how to use it to exploit the defense.
I think that is where the battle will be won or lost. The effective use of the offensive system.

Yeah I saw him at the Inn at VT a few weeks ago..noticed him immediately because of his size and recognized him after seeing his face...big guy!
You must be a small dude. I've met Beamer numerous times and I felt huge standing next to him and I'm only 6'1.
That's because Beamer played back when 5'6 was considered tall.
