That's just pathetic from what is supposed to be one of the big brands of this conference. Top 10 team going up against a conference opponent in "The South's Oldest Rivalry", in a nighttime showcase game in what is shaping up to be the very best season in UNC football for the past 30 years and your fans don't even show up?
Man, if you're the SEC or Big Ten watching this kind of stuff playing out on national tv, you have to be getting second thoughts about whether or not you REALLY want them in your conference. Oh sure, their basketball program is elite, but basketball ain't bringing in the money, and if the fans aren't going to show up for a self-proclaimed rivalry when you're sitting undefeated and in the Top 10 with their own fan sites absolutely shitting on how pathetic a look it was from top to bottom, why would you want that? Watching this shit, I 100% believe that NC State is a better add to either of those conferences than UNC. At least NC State cares.
And likewise, the exact same argument can be made in the Commonwealth as to why VT should absolutely be a higher priority than UVa.

Comments
Went to look back at the twitter posts he made with the pictures and can't look past yesterdays tweeets. Is this something else the new owner is screwing around with. Not letting people see old tweets. He worried about people finding out the shit he has said or something?
and this was after kickoff
And you can get an idea how bad the crowd was later in the game here
Yea on TV it looked awful. Said something to wife even from watching on Phone while daughter had cheer practice it looked bad.
When I flipped to that game I was amazed at maybe 50% attendance for a top 10 team at night. Even UVA is getting better attendance this year.
I think UNC is a good team. Much better than we are. They would stomp us. Having said that- this was same ole Mack Brown. Defense can't stop a nose bleed when they have to. It's why NC State, App State, etc always play him tough- his defenses aren't tough enough to stop anyone that is not afraid of them and has a decent offense. They let UVA go right down and score several times. Soft.
Perhaps, but they didn't play well last weekend.
Seriously, no defense at all, and his receivers had hands of lead.
Weird, I'm sure that's exactly what UNC thought last week leading up to the game...UVA soft, we will stomp them and the game will be over at half.
The difference in UNC playing us is that they would care...even if it were the current iteration of VT football.
Agreed. Slightly related, I'd love to know when the age thing will hurt UNC. We heard for a few years that Beamer's age was used against VT in recruiting, because opposing schools could tell recruits that he won't be there much longer.
Obviously UNC has a bigger brand and a lot more money than us, but Mack is 72 (Beamer was 69 when he announced he was retiring). How the hell are they still convincing top tier recruits to go there? It is almost certain he will be gone while the current recruits are still enrolled. Even if not, every opposing coach should be saying that and should have been saying that the last few years to every UNC recruit. Continues to be frustrating.
similar dance moves to Beamer too
Its an issue until its not- see Nick Saban, Jim Larrinaga, etc. It's one thing to tell kids that Frank Beamer is a senile, frail man that is going to retire at any moment- its another for the handlers to push it and believe it. I'm sure Franklin and Dabo's guys are pushing the narrative that Brown won't be there forever etc, but if they don't buy into that, it means nothing.
I guess I don't understand why recruits and the influential people in their lives would not buy that. There is no denying that the guy is 72 years old haha.
Saban is a different story since he is the GOAT coach, so i could see why a recruit would be like "Yes I am playing for Coach Saban and I don't care if he retires in a year or two because he is the best in the country so getting coached by him at all is worth it." Doing that for Mack Brown (who already stepped away from coaching for 5 years once) at a basketball school seems like a much harder sell. Plus Alabama is a blue blood who you know will thrown down big bucks and continue to prioritize football when it comes time to replace Saban. Who tf knows what UNC does next, as they have had some interesting coaches over the years
UNC was among the absolute worst offenders of this under Fedora. We absolutely should be returning the favor and using every dirty recruiting tactic out there to directly go after their recruits now. Shit, now that they've choked on their own spit again to a lowly team as a self proclaimed big dog, they're ripe to be picked apart on the recruiting trail. Mack ain't getting any younger.
I mean you can use but the difference is the team was declining under the last few years of Frank. So they could say "See, he's lost the edge. He's gonna retire soon, he's old."
Mac Brown is fielding a top 10 team and regardless of how they usually end up it's not horrible and at the very least better than us. And he has a national championship.
Again though. It's not about TV market or butts in the stands, it's about interest in a program. (And I acknowledge that both of the former metrics are often indicators of the latter).
UNC holds more interest than NC State. Certainly outside of NC, but really even inside. UVa/VT isn't quite so clear cut. I still think UVa gets a B1G invite before we get an SEC one.
And yes, Chapel Hill was very quiet on Saturday. Bad look.
How on earth can you measure "interest in the program" if not through TV markets and ticket sales?
What metrics are you even using?
TV markets have already been thoroughly debunked as an indicator of "interest in a program". Rutgers, Temple, Syracuse and BC have seen to that.
As for ticket sales... yeah, there are 100k fans w/in a day's drive who are more likely to go to an NCSU game than a UNC one. That doesn't mean that NCSU is gonna get more eyeballs on their games on some Saturday afternoon in Georgia or Alabama or Michigan or Ohio. UNC is just a more "interesting" brand.
I'll readily admit that I have no metrics to use here. It's all terribly subjective. But my subjective take seems to align with the rumored subjective takes of the B1G and the SEC, as UNC is mentioned as one of the big three properties for expansion in the ACC. NCSU.... isn't.
Michael Jordan- and no real significant football wins in their history. That's their "brand". A basketball player.
Don't complain to me. Complain to the multi-million-dollar conferences who seem to want them very badly.
Same conferences wanted Rutgers
Fair point. But that WAS in the "TV markets" era of conference expansion.
When you live in a glass house, it isn't a great idea to throw stones. Let's start winning with some consistency before engaging with those doofuses in Chapel Hill.
Screw that. We're currently going through and hopefully climbing out of our worst period of play over the past 30 years, and we've sold out every game this year. We lost to Rutgers and Marshall this year and we're still selling out every game. UNC was undefeated and #10 in the country hosting a self proclaimed rival and their own media is calling the fans out on a pathetic turnout.
We absolutely can be kicking them right now. Our team sucks compared to theirs, and yet our fans still show up better.
Amen
Yeah, its maddening that a team/program like that can attract and steal good recruits. I guess I just don't know what the process looks like or what is appealing (and apparently UNC does), but I don't see how a kid could go experience an empty stadium like that and think "This is where I have to be."
We have always struggled to understand how to recruit. We just never put the effort into it and thought that by winning, it would cause kids to want to come to VT. Which, it did in the 90s, but not anymore.
Thankfully, we have a recruiting staff who gets it and its now starting to show. What will be exciting is if the on field results keep coming to the point where you don't necessarily have to convince kids, but just make sure they don't get poached.
A little unfair. Beamer had a real strategy- get the best players in Virginia. That is a real and quality recruiting strategy, and he won a ton of games with it. He was also ahead of the times with how he used Fork Union and Hargrave as a recruiting tool. We also tapped into NJ/PA when we needed lineman that we couldn't find in Va. Beamer also recruited entire families- which paid off for him. He gave wrestlers and basketball players more looks than other coaches did. VT has been able to "recruit" in the past. Where we fell off was keeping up with the times of course- and the cut throat nature VT and Beamer didn't want any part of- Urban Meyer had coaches that would recruit specific areas where the college coaches were on the hot seat for example. Jay Paterno told Kevin Jones that there were no black students at VT besides the football team. Beamer didn't want any part of that nonsense. To be fair to Beamer- neither did John Thompson or Gary Williams on the hoops side. They left because of that nonsense. The past 10 years, VT is woefully behind on the modern recruiting game- fair point. I think we are catching up. Pry has seen the biggest snake of all in recruiting up close.
He had a strategy but we never did this. Only once did more than 5 of the states top ten come to Tech. As Alum said we have struggled on how to recruit for a long time. There should have been no reason the 2000 or 2001 classes didn't include more top 200 players. And almost all the best in Virginia.
we should have an AMA with Director of Recruiting Operations Camie Cole
I say kick their scrotums off
Were we talking about how the team is playing, sure, I'd agree wholeheartedly. But we're talking about their fanbase's complete lack of interest in a Top 10 team. We've had an um... less than stellar season and still sellout Lane. If we were in the Top 10, Lane would be standing room only.
1-3 versus 1-3 and the crowd was there and pumped. Crowd is only getting more excited as we are starting to play a little better.
Yes, during the homecoming game 80% of the students left when it started raining before halftime. But the people that stayed just screamed louder to make up.
Same as it ever was, even when we were legitimately Top 10-15.
Normally students stay until after the half time announcement of the court. This time they bailed before it.
Is this also the first time they have elected three members of the court? Nobody was announced King or Queen. They were just announced to the homecoming court.
No it changed in 2020 homecoming student board and groups requested changes.
Shows how much attention I paid the last couple of courts then.
In fairness that rain and cold wind for that half hour or so was BRUTAL (especially as it had been so warm earlier an I as in shorts and short sleeves)- I stayed but I can't completely be mad at those who didn't...looks like low 60s to upper 50s and cloudy for game time this week.
I was wearing pants and t-shirt, so I feel you. Was warm by the end of the game with excitement.
I started at the tailgate that way(jeans and long sleeves) but got too hot in the sun so changed before walking to the game- was wearing sandals too so barefoot at my seat at the game!
doofuses or doofi? Hmmmm.
Let's google that:
Doofeese
Love that Brian Regan bit.......
i got two boxen of donuts
I've said this before and I'll say it again. My college gf went to UNC after finishing her BS at Tech (I stayed at Tech for my MS). I drove down every month for two years. There is minimal difference between gameday / non-gameday Saturdays in Chapel Hill. Its very lame.
I live in Hillsborough and a couple weeks ago UNC and Duke both had home games at night. Driving around, though, you wouldn't have even realized that. It's wild that two P5 programs which are effectively in the same town can both have home games on the same day. It would be like having Clemson in Christiansburg. Trying to have games in Blacksburg and Christiansburg at the same time would be nearly impossible
Yeah but Chapel Hill and Durham are vastly bigger (and have more infrastructure) than Blacksburg/Christiansburg. I'm not saying either school features a good gameday experience, but the ability to navigate roads around here on game days isn't a perfect indicator of fan enthusiasm.
I also live/lived in Hillsborough but in the process of moving and can confirm this post. Game days are hardly noticeable in the triangle. Tailgating in Chapel Hill doesn't really exist unless the away team comes in strong.
moving? where to and when? Any chance you'd be interested in a quick beer at the wooden nickel or something before you go?
Those fried banana peppers at the wooden nickel.
I would love to but not sure we'll have the time. We bought our first home in Bristol Tn! We'll be coming back this Saturday to finish the move and to clean; will comment back if we have any spare time. The new Eno River Brewery is pretty great too!
What's in Bristol to convince somebody to move there?
Isn't that a good reason not to move to Bristol?
The reason I ask is because Bristol is about to lose one of their races. The outlook on Bristol's economy is trending downward.
The casino should be a big boost once fully opened, at least to Bristol VA.
That's true, but does it offset the massive failure of The Falls and the landfill debacle, and everything else they've messed up?
Probably not with the schools costs they're about to incur
Casino's are closing all over the place. Probably because there are too many now. Have no clue about Bristol, but there is a "casino" on every exit in NM on I 40... 20 years ago they were only in NV, LA, NJ and on boats.
I think casinos become a bit of a red herring for economic activity too. They might draw a lot of folks and the casino itself may do fairly well, but what it's doing, essentially, is draining money out of the local populace from the bottom up. Most people who end up at casinos are people who shouldn't be at casinos - blowing money they can't afford to blow - making the casinos wealthy and starving the rest of the local economy of dollars that are no longer circulating since everyone is blowing their dough on the blackjack tables and slot machines.
Correct. And here in the PHX valley, there is a casino conglomerate that open smaller casinos and tighten the machines for the sole purpose of opening larger casinos.
Plus there is no other types of support for casinos other than liquor and food.
A blackjack table doesn't require manufacturing anything and so no parts supplier or heavy machinery support, etc.
As far as economic support its a dead end.
I don't keep up with NASCAR but didn't know this. We moved to be closer to family, love the outdoors, and the housing market is better than Raleigh. My wife and I have fully remote work agreements otherwise this wouldn't have been possible. Do you live around the area? We live 1 mile from state street
I grew up there and my entire family and my best friends are still there except for my mom. The housing is really affordable compared to the bigger cities around the region. The last time I was there it was just sad. So many closed businesses. From what I hear the middle class is disappearing in the area.
So, in the words of Don Henley ...
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em all around
I hate the football team from Philadelphia. But the band was my favorite group for a long time. And there was a time that Already Gone was probably my favorite song.
Great band, great song writing. Arguably the best harmonies recorded in "rock" for 30 years. Having said that the Eagles are your classic example of how elite athletes, entertainers, businessmen etc are wired. You have to be that way to be the best in the world at something. Henley and Frey were/are petty, greedy, manipulative assholes. Horrible people, treated their band horribly. But that's not unique. Trent Reznor, Axl Rose, Billy Joel- awful people. Its a trait of the uber-successful.
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
I always shake my head when people swoon over Billy Joel and his music. I always tell them to go look up what he did to his drummer, Liberty Devitto.
Yep. Liberty needed some help and Billy was a dickhead. Par for the course. He - and all type A grammy winners, athletes etc- thinks his shit doesn't stink. He thinks that nobody cares that Liberty was the drummer on literally all of his hits. Nah- he thinks that he is the band and anyone can play drums like that. As a drummer- that is bullshit. Steve Perry - in their prime- fired the actual Journey band - except Neil Schone and hired Randy fucking Jackson to play bass. Hey steve, believe it or not the fans are fans of "journey" you asshole. My 8th grade teacher grew up with Joel. He said that he is the worst guy on earth. Even back then he was a bully and thought the rules didn't apply. My teacher saw him years after they were grown and Billy looked at him and said- I think I remember you, but its not important, and walked off. I work with one of Chuck Mangione's close relatives. He got a letter from a lawyer one day saying that Chuck was "closing his circle" to include family and wouldn't acknowledge he was related to them anymore, legally. Fucking assholes. The worst.
And then on the flip side you have celebrities that are just normal, kind people. A close friend of mine worked as a mechanic in the Southside Mercedes dealership in Richmond. One if their customers was the couple Justin Verlander and Kate Upton. My friend worked on their 200K AMG sedan frequently and said you would never know that Upton was a supermodel by her behavior. She treated everyone nice and was always grateful. My friend even worked on the car at their home on the James River and she was the same generous person there as well. Must have had good parents or something.
Oh yes. I've had the same experience on both sides with Tiger Woods. I worked in law enforcement in a prior life. Did security for Tiger and others at the US Open at congressional. Super cool, chill, professional- courteous. He was not talkative, but a normal human. Saw him on the range some time later at a pro am- I don't like bothering celebs anyway- but the opportunity came and I said, Hi Tiger, Good luck this week- and he looked through me and wouldn't acknowledge. I get that they live in a fish bowl and people worship them - I get it.
I feel bad for Tiger at tournaments, the shit I've seen him put up with is insane compared to other golfers not named Phil. I can see why he doesn't acknowledge every one just because he'd never get to the tee if he did.
I have heard to many stories of how big an ASS Tiger on the course and anywhere near it to ever think he could be a nice person.
He is an ass- he doesn't tip, he is very aloof, he is not interested in any opinion of sheep. But that week I was one of the guys making sure he didn't get stabbed by a stalker or mobbed by people, so he was cool to me. lol. But his attitude is well documented. The Mets asked him to make an appearance on Jackie Robinson day, and his response was "why didn't you ask me before I won the masters"? He also started to get pissy/dismissive with the nicest guy in the world and best golf writer ever Dan Jenkins and Tom Watson snatched him by the collar and told him to act like a fucking human and show some respect. Apparently Mark O Meara and him had a falling out because O Meara told him he can't be a cunt to everyone he comes in contact with. But again- he is golf. He is the most popular golfer ever- by a very long margin. You are going to be arrogant if that is the case.
Agreed he is an ass, but I'd be a huge ass if I had to deal with his crowds while trying to win at golf. It's that double edge sword that you're rich because of those crowds but at the same time you're trying to win and people in the crowds are yelling at inappropriate times and just being asses in general. I was always happier to go watch other golfers in person. Also he is no way close to the biggest ass on tour and others don't have anywhere close to the reasons to be an ass as Tiger does (not excusing him for being an ass). I watched Freddie Couples yell at a kid for asking for an autograph on a practice day. There were maybe 20 people watching him play.
I hear what you are saying, but in his prime- Tiger was voted least popular guy in the locker room many consecutive years. This new generation competing with 1-leg 40 year old tiger loves him a lot more than the guys playing him when he would shoot 64 every Saturday. Those dudes hated him. David Toms, Ernie, Vijay, Davis Love, Phil. That generation saw him for the total ass he is. He is much more likable to guys like JT and Fowler who are competing with 15 back surgery Tiger.
I followed him around the course some when he was at the Greenbrier several years ago. I don't get the fanboys that follow Tiger. Like yeah, it's cool he's probably the greatest golfer ever next to Jack Nicklaus, really cool to be able to stand on the course near him and watch him play. But the guys who have to constantly try and get a comment in like they're his buddy or something. Just weird. I just drank beer and had a good time.
By far the biggest golf fan dorks are the ones that rush and run to hover over a golf ball hit near them. Like they stand right over it- why? You can see those at dicks sporting goods . And you have to move back anyway when the golfer gets there. Asinine. That and fans that wear golf spikes to watch golf.
this is just...weird. It's like wearing a football helmet to a football game. Makes no sense
I considered wearing my spikes to the US Open one year because it was raining and the shoes are waterproof.
I mean, that makes sense, sure. However spikes suck walking on wet cart paths- which is where you would have been mostly as a spectator.
Wasn't a spectator. Walking scorer. So I was mostly walking in the rough. Got yelled at for getting close enough to the golfers to be seen on TV trying to stay out of the deepest grass.
The tournaments I have been you are rarely ever on a cart path. (many US opens, a senior openn, a PGA , a British, and a few local tournaments)
No way. My cover of Take It Easy every single Tuesday at Tots Karaoke from August 2006 -June 2007 (minus winter and spring break) was better. And I was hammer drunk on rails.
and I dont dispute that your cover of Take it Easy is better, but I was talking about Dirty Laundry.
Well shit, Nickelback needs to stop covering the Eagles
They didn't do an Eagles cover, it was a Don Henley cover. I think you are safe.
Weird. Google shows me two different youtube clips that they say are Nickelback singing Take It Easy
It was Henley's - the song was released in '82, which was about 2 years after the Eagles broke up.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Laundry_(Don_Henley_song)
They didn't break up. They just took a 14 year vacation.
Reminds me of the Who movie 'The Kids are Alright' when the narrator asked Keith Moon when he joined the band; his answer : 'I never joined them; I've just been sitting in for the last 15 years!'
Do I remember that on one of the actual tracks from an album?
Hell Freezes Over. The title of the album/tour/MTV special was in reference to a quote he made when they broke up in 1980 where he said they'd get back together when hell freezes over.
Good so the weird panic nostalgia for sitting in my living room listening to my dads albums as a kid made sense and wasn't a hallucination.
Doesn't Don Henley = The Eagles?
I have no emotion at all regarding Nickelback, but according to this, Nickelback hate is a great example of modern crowd psychology.
Where did the hatred of Nickelback come from?
Just like Coldplay. One hilarious line in the movie 40 Year Old Virgin and instantly Coldplay isn't cool anymore. The line was hilarious and the delivery and comedic timing was great, but no reason to bring all that hate down on a fabulously mediocre band.
I prefer "Don't Stop" by Foster the People:
"gonna kick until I need new shoes"
CW has seen two top15 upsets in two weeks
I could not get this game here in the Dallas area so that kind of sucks for any future games we may be playing on the CW.
Weird the CW should be everywhere. Looks like 33 on all platforms in the Dallas area
Yeah I was looking for it, but did not show up anywhere. It also could have been that the CW was showing something different since I think that regional markets can choose to play the game or something else.
Good news! Dallas should be in market for ACC games very shortly
Turns out I have the DirectTV Stream as mentioned below, so I don't get the CW at all. Bummer.
We live in Winston-Salem and have DirecTV Stream. We don't have the CW channel out of Greensboro. 🤷
I liked the CW coverage even had a camera on the ref.
CoWincadence? I think not.
So Clemson was favored by 10 and lost on the CW this week. Why can't we be o the CW this weekend! Who do I have to petition?
Not to take the side of UNC fans, but they were playing LOLUVA.....
We all knew UNC was going to shit the bed. It's just too bad it was vs the Hoos.
I was pulling for "meteor" in that game.
ok that explains the lack of VISITING fans...but when we play lolUVA @ home its a sellout; when at
Lane North it's (at the lowest) 50% Hokies in the stands...I DID one time see a UVA fan sitting next to us in the top row upper deck reading a book during the game (not sure why he bothered to show up...)
Probably because his parents bought him the ticket and told him to go and make some friends and some memories.
UNCheat lost to LOLUVa, a team that was tied for last in the conference with 0 wins in the ACC. A team that was sitting at 1-5 with their only win being against William and Freaking Mary (who, by the way, heald LOLUVa to a measly 7 points after half time.)
UNCheat and Mack Brown may have single handedly bought Tony Elliot another year in Charlottesville, choking away a top 10 ranking along with their fourth quarter lead.
you're right, this is fun.
So we should applaud them! lol
www.dontfiretonyelliot.com
I'll send them a nice fruit basket.
They are who we thought they were
It's just a shame that UVa discovered it first.
But still, I'll take it. Particularly as UVa lost to Miami last night.
Chaos wins, again.
Update: Keep kicking them!
Few things in life make me happier than unc schadenfreude. Fuck unc. I love this for them
Boycott so good they didn't even show up before they dropped out of the top ten.
Must be an amazing school. Just cranking out next-level geniuses left and right.
Geniuses from all of those totally not fake classes
Can't tell whether to read them in this voice

or this voice
Oh come on have you ever met a UNC alum? Them getting mad about football definitely gives off David energy
UNC is just the North Carolina version of UVA. Pretentious as shit, so yeah, definitely David Rose.
in the end, though, I like David Rose. I NEVER like UVA or UNC
Unlike UVA and UNC, David Rose showed he had the ability to grow out of his delusions of grandeur.
....it keeps going!
Honestly don't know what is worse as a fan... VT earlier in the year, where you play solid defense at times and give up untouched easy 60 yard TD runs? Or you are a UNC...where the defense just totally sucks against any medicore offense? I don't know whose defense is just overall worse...Indiana or UNC? teams score whenever they need to on both.
100% UNC because its just fundamentally broken. At least with what we were doing, and you saw it with the assessments after the fact, we just had players that allowed themselves to get out of position on a play by play basis. The scheme was there, the players just weren't capable of making the plays, but it gave you hope for the future.
With UNC, this is the best they've been in 30 years, and they're getting caved in by bad teams with a head coach that might have 2 or 3 more years before retirement. I don't know how you have hope going forward watching this shit.
I'd definitely prefer what we had - partly because that can be improved upon (as ours evidently has been). UNCs defense is just fraudulent and has been as long as Chizik has been the DC there.
Also, it irks me to no end that anybody can score on UNC when they need to except for us the last couple years under FuCorn. Part of me is glad we didn't have to play UNC this year, and part of me kinda wishes we had played them right after they lost to UVA because I think with our current offense we would smoke them
I have felt that way so so many times the past several years. We have played horrid horrid defenses and can't score 17 points. It drives you nuts how bad our offense is over time. Purdue and Marshall both this year. Shit defenses we pissed down our leg against for the most part.
agreed - and after those games this year I was probably one of the louder folks suggesting Bowen ain't it. But things have improved, dramatically, since then and for the first time in, like, ever, I feel pretty decent about our offense now. It's not perfect and needs a lot of work but it seems like it's moving in the right direction and it seems like the coaches at least kinda know what they're doing. We haven't felt that way since the early 2000s
WTF is UNC selling to beat us out on recruits?
Jumpman apparel.
You know what? I'm not done kicking them over their apathetic fan base
No, Mack... Let's talk about how your fans don't show up to a bowl game in your own backyard after you all have been crowing about how you're the premier football program of the region. Buncha frauds, you all are.
Hey mack, that first down marker will get after ya
More Mack Brown trips over the first down marker than UNCheat fans in the stands.
But he wears such fresh shoes when he falls down and can't get up!
(/s)
Is it bad if I want someone to turn this into like a "Fallman" instead of the "Jumpman" logo
I got you fam
The hero we deserve
oh perfect.
Insert We've Gone Plaid gif
I've said it before, but opposing coaches should have plenty of ammo to use against Mack in recruiting. I know it was just one moment where he tripped and could happen to anyone, but he continues to get and look older, and his team is still not living up to the recruiting and preseason hype. Feel like his time is almost up
Is Mack Brown the Joe Biden of college football?
Mods, if this is too political please feel free to delete. It's obviously a joke.
Um I'm pretty sure you mean Gerald Ford
Why not both?

Only a couple years from being Lee Corso or Mark Richt 😬. And I don't mean a legendary and well loved coach
I know, seeing Richt like that is very saddening. I always liked and respected him as a coach.
Recruits and conference commissioners are still falling for it. Carolina is seen as the premier rights property left in realignment, despite not having fans. And they still had a very good recruiting class this year, despite the total lack of development of any highly rated recruits during Mack's tenure.
Recruiting wise, UNC is trending downward. VT passed them this year in average rank, due to VT increasing and UNC decreasing. Still a good recruiting class for UNC in 2023, but I am expecting those trends to continue based on program momentum.
Unc fans are worse than boohoos because of the fact that they actually get a chance to attend a bowl game but the game is never prestigious enough for the fans to go. They probably wouldn't even sell out a CFP game, but would wait for them to be in the Final.
Even their own beat writers piled on
This is Charlotte. The biggest city in North Carolina and they had NOBODY show up to watch UNC play in a bowl. Even Duke brings bigger crowds than this. Absolutely pathetic effort from UNC fans, I don't want to hear another word about how they're a football power in any sense.
And among those, even if they were fans when they showed up, they probably didn't leave fans.
I think VTs goal every time we play UNC is to beat them so badly that their fans walk out VT fans.
we just gotta keep doing it, it's gonna work one of these days
I'm down for trying and trying until it works.
