I read the first three words of this thread title and was like, "NOOOOOOOOOO!" but then I saw that he broke a record, not himself, and it was all good.

It is impressive; however, it is much easier for shorter people to get higher weight amounts because their legs or arms or whatever have a short distance to go.

Thanks for reminding me of how Logan ran him over earlier in the game (which I listened to on the radio but didn't see). My lasting memory of Jack was his pick-6 on Leal.

yeah but why rush the kid when we have what looks like a good 1-2 tandem in jc and juice. We don't need T-Eddy to have a re-occurring injury and then he's done for the year. I'd be fine with him missing the Bill & Jill game, and be ready for Ostate

Well done. He has the strongest leg push of any RB VT has ever had. My only question, why can't he bulldoze a defender or push a pile? Too many times I saw him get hit and drop straight to the ground. Maybe he'll improve on that this year.

to answer your question because those guys also are 6'3 to 6'6 and probably a good 30-40 lbs heavier. oh and normally it wasn't just 1 guy, more like 3-4 guys since we couldn't really block consistently last year

Reasons he shouldn't fall:
1) Simple Physics - F = mA - If he has the force to push 455 lbs against gravity, he has the force to push 280 lb linebacker.
Only if there is 0 effective additional friction and the ground, he is lifting the lb straight up and the LB isn't pushing back so that the combined force is not more than 455 lb and there is no more sideways force than while lifting.

I kept it simple, but sure add up all the force. Are you sure he doesn't have the leg strength to push a pile? Whatever force JC has generated with his legs during front squats should translate well to pushing piles and running through LBs. He is the strongest VT RB ever at that force. Other VT RBs could break tackles and push a pile. JC shouldn't be any different. If anything, due to his lack of height, he should be able to get more leverage. He needs to learn to translate his strength in the weight room onto the field. I am a big fan of JC and I hope does well.

I agree with you chazz. He is too easily brought down. I don't know what it is...maybe he doesn't run with high knees or maybe he stops driving legs on contact.

With a name like billdozer...totes! By the way, billdozer, always a fan of your work. Where can I find the gif that had the multi series of "f*ks" that you've posted before?

appreciate it, I have some good stuff planned for this summer!
As far as the gif, if it wasn't one I made it means I either saw it on imgur or just googled it...and if that is the case then...no clue, could be buried in the depths of the internet

I love him to death, but if the light doesn't go on this spring for him I'm worried he's going to miss the chance to be the rb we all thought he would be.
He missed some easy blocking assignments last year.
One of Loeffler's biggest concerns is turnovers. Giving up easy sacks on your QB is not very conducive to low turnover ratios.

One day we will retire a jersey for the boxing glove on a stick. It will hang right there next to the horse on the treadmill's jersey, as well as the hashtag for chapping wood.

I'm pretty sure the only fumbles lost by the offense were by LT3 (I can think of 2 against Pitt BC)..I don't think the RBs lost a single fumble all year though..that's a good stat to have..even if you're only running 120 yards a game
Edit: As it was pointed out below, the fumbles I was thinking of occurred against BC, not Pitt.

If you want an example of someone who bleeds orange and maroon, look no further. Big recruiter back in the day, loves VT, and clearly works his ass off. God I hope he finishes his career strong; he deserves it.

I hope this strength translates to some harder runs. he has always had speed but he hasn't been able to break that first tackle his career so far. Arm tackles brought him down before.

That tells me he's been putting in some work! I'm rooting for the guy to do well this year :D
Great news for him. The guy is a beast.
I read the first three words of this thread title and was like, "NOOOOOOOOOO!" but then I saw that he broke a record, not himself, and it was all good.
hahaha i had the exact same reaction.
Kind of like:
"Kam Chancellor Got Paid"

We have had short RB's before. This is an impressive amount no matter what the stature.
So. A lower CG is awesome in running backs.

This is insane... front squats are REALLY hard.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Front Squats are the only thing VT reports as official. They do not measure the back squat.
he might as well bust his butt since edmunds and shai are not practicing in the spring. It's between him and Juice for opening day it looks like
Edmunds will still start if he's back by summer practice
At linebacker perhaps...?
nope
Unless the coaches decide to make him our version of Myles Jack.
well damn, we don't wanna see trey get embarrassed like that.
Thanks for reminding me of how Logan ran him over earlier in the game (which I listened to on the radio but didn't see). My lasting memory of Jack was his pick-6 on Leal.
My lasting memory will always be him getting double trucked.
yeahno
Not advocating it, just mentioning the possibility.

2) Real Life Example - Ray Rice is 5' 8" 207 lbs

I've never seen a RB push a pile all by himself. Unfortunately, the way we've run-blocked the past couple of years, they've had to try to.
I agree with you chazz. He is too easily brought down. I don't know what it is...maybe he doesn't run with high knees or maybe he stops driving legs on contact.
as someone who goes to the gym every day
Bro, do you even lift?

Dude, JC puts in sick work. Please see his 1st string video. This guy is going to be a freaking monster.

We'll see.
We didn't fumble much last year. That says something...
Shane has done a good job with teaching RBs to limit fumbles.
Now we just need a 1,000 yd RB.

Now that you mention it I think the fumbles I was thinking of were actually against BC. I don't know if LT3 lost any to Pitt

Much respect to J.C.
If this is the effort that the 'second string' is giving....we'll be alright.
First string better watch out...
I hope this strength translates to some harder runs. he has always had speed but he hasn't been able to break that first tackle his career so far. Arm tackles brought him down before.
