Hammerin Hokies/#15 Lady Bombers this week

Baseball (25-12) fell out of the rankings after losing two out of three against #7 Duke. Bullpen continued to be a major black hole in the two losses. Hokies have allowed 8+ runs in six of their last nine ACC contests.

This week starts off at home against George Mason tonight at 7pm on ACCNX. Last time the Hokies played Mason was the day before all college athletics were shut down due to Covid.

This weekend the Hokies go on the road to #15 UNC (30-10).

6pm Friday ACCNX
2pm Sat ACCNX
1pm Sun ACCNX

Softball (35-9-1) only moved up three spots despite a 4-0 week where once again most of the teams ahead of them in the rankings had losses.

This week they play the Wahoos (30-15) at home this evening at 7pm on ACCN. Tomorrow they play Marshall at home at 530pm on ACCNX.

This weekend they face Syracuse (21-20) on the road.

3pm Friday ACCNX
1pm Sat ACCNX
Noon Sun ACCNX

Used ten pitchers but had 11 strikeouts and only two walks.

Hokies had five homeruns but also got clutch hitting with runners on.

Safe to say the offense didn't want to take any chances with the our bullpen last night?

Offense just managed to hit the ball. Very few strikeouts for a change. Mason pitchers walked/hit quite a few to set the plate. Bullpen basically pitched whole game and gave up 5 runs to one of the worst offenses in the Atlantic 10. Mason has one hitter that should probably be at a bigger school in Jordan Smith. Couple other decent hitters but not much there.

Mason will be the program that gets in the tourney one year, gets hot and wins a college world series. That can never be VT, lol.
