For those unaware - 3-star linebacker, brother of current VT DB Braylon Johnson and son of former VT DB Loren Johnson. #30 player in the state

And Wales on the international stage. Going to make for a busy travel schedule for him.

Although only a 3* and 30th player his offer list is pretty impressive. Which is more important to me.

PSU, Ole Miss, sCar, Miami, etc.

Welcome home Brennan!!

I'm so glad we're at the point where an 87 rated LB is "only a 3*" and not the second highest player in our class. Pry has gotten a lot of justified criticism but he has absolutely significantly and noticeably raised the floor on our recruiting

Agree!

100% thought after reading your comment that the very NEXT comment was going to be negative and by one of our local chat board mixer-uppers.
Totally agree with you btw

I hate rude behavior in a man. Won't tolerate it.

one click shows Wagoneer's been around TKP for 7 years. Sheesh. Everyone take a nap, have a snickers or something.

a lot of those 'big' offers backed off after he didn't keep growing as much as predicted.
Great HS football player, not great size. His rankings and such reflect how he projects to the college level.. likely contributor, unlikely star.

If he was 6'2 210 instead of 5'11" 185 he'd have a 5-star rating and would be top 5 in the state.

Hopefully he's got the quickness, speed and agility to cover slot receivers as a Star because I don't think he's got the mass to play inside. (of course I don't think Brumfield is big enough to play inside either and he mostly gets it done)

Please be another Cody Grimm

Yeah size/frame-wise I was thinking he was on a STAR trajectory.

You never know though... We've had some great, short college LB's in our time. He would need to add considerable mass to play Mike, but that seems like an option if he really has the juice there and can get to ~230.

Do we have intel on exactly how big he is? The internet is all over the place

Chris Coleman used this logic during the Fuente era. Obviously it doesn't work. Alot of his tiny weak players had other P 5 offers.

Loren's kid? Right on.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Seems like a good recruit and love to have more family legacy players in Blacksburg. Anyone clued in with VA hs ball got an assessment on his play and where he fits?

Welcome Home!!

Seems like it was always assumed to be the case, but he was taking his time with it.
He is going to need to grow a bit to stay close to the line of scrimmage.

LET'S GO

HOKIES!!

Go Hokies!!

Reminds me a lot of this guy, who seems to be working out pretty good so far:

Caleb Woodson

"Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"

Nice!

I know all the info here projects him as a linebacker but his HUDL account calls him out as a Strong Safety and most of the camp videos I am seeing shows him working coverage of wide receivers deep on go routes. His junior year highlights all are him at MLB, but Senior year highlights are a mix of OLB/Safety.

Considering his frame SS may be a more realistic position at the college level if he has the speed to stay with D1 receivers.
