Good get. Per Andy Bitter he will be playing wide receiver, not running back.

Slot receiver and as a returner.

He could be a weapon as a KR.

Loving getting the VA 4 stars to come home.

I think this is a big part of our recruiting strategy at the high school *and* portal level. If they sign elsewhere out of HS then, "We wish you luck there, but if things don't turn out the way you wanted them to, then keep us in mind. You can always come home."

Nice

Top VA recruit in 2023.

Now we just need to get these kids right out of high school.

I mean, maybe this is the new version of the 'Beamer Way' - If you do it early and often, does it matter that much if you don't get them out of high school?

(to answer my mildly rhetorical question... yes, it's preferable to get them out of high school, but if we can get 2 or 3 years of them starting after year 2 or 3, then it's still a pretty good deal)

I think this is a really interesting question. Is it perhaps a BETTER version of the Beamer way?

I never want to lose an in state top recruit (especially to Tennessee, yuck), but we haven't paid them a dime, and we haven't had to worry about them portaling after they've developed in our program.

I guess I kind of just made a case for portal as a whole, but I guess I would prefer this than the Devon Hunter situation. (Too soon?)

Go Hokies!

...but if we can get 2 or 3 3 or 4 years of them starting after year 2 or 3 3 or 4...

FTFY. ;^)

Are you DC in disguise?

So we're thinking he takes the Jaylin Lane role on offense and special teams?

Go Hokies!

Well he'll have to compete with Heath, who got snaps this year, and Adams at slot, and Holloway is coming back as of now

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

It appears he played over 4 games both seasons thus far- I'm guessing 2 years of eligibility left?

Wrong. 6.

Am I doing this right?

Every second counts

He thought UT was a junior college so...4

Maybe 2 years. More likley 3 at a least- grad transfer. Perhaps 4 if he petitions the NCAA (lol) to actually count one of those as a redshirt year.

... Six

... Got it!

We ready to start lying yet?

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

Always have been

Fifteen and oh baby!

I need a DC and 1-2 more lineman and I'll start lying to myself again.

We can't announce Kirby Smart as DC until after UGA is done in the playoffs

At this point I'm certain it's Dex and I'm just believing that Moore is hand picking his starting OL

Gonna need another two competent offensive tackles at the very least

If 6'2" 222lbs is accurate, and legends of his speed aren't over exaggerated, I dont know what we got. But I can imagine it would be like tackling a python in a tornado while riding a bronco. Fingers crossed.

The best part of this is knowing that somewhere there is a Tennessee fan crying that they've become just a feeder school for the ACC.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

I watched a fair amount of Seldon over the last two seasons. He CAN play running back, but tends to run very upright and take hard shots, which ended up becoming injuries too often. Coming out of high school, he was a receiver recruit who was a big athlete, and the Vols, who were very thin at tailback, moved him to running back.

It will be very interesting to see how the Hokies use him, but a top of the Commonwealth recruit coming home isn't a bad thing, especially when he showed that he has the talent to be a contributor.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Plan is to use him in a Percy Harvin type role. Screens, quick slants, swings out of the backfield, handoffs, etc. Dude is an insane athlete for his size and I agree that he was misused at RB. A natural runner but not a natural running back, if that makes sense

The Jaylin Lane role is going to be perfect for him. I'm sure that sold him on VT.

Think he'll spend more time in the backfield than Lane did

Bitter was saying this commitment may not come through on the TSL podcast today. Anyone have any insight?

Not seeing any walk back on Twitter by anyone.

Supposedly, he has signed. It appears there is some angst about how the news came out.

Signed what? What does that even mean? Is it even meaningful?

enrollment / transfer paperwork is still a thing

For now

Did we forget Darian Varner?

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

We did. Why? he had 3 total tackles -THIS YEAR- and zero sacks.

And???? Doesn't change that he "signed" or "committed" or whatever else you want to call it just to be enrolled for paperwork purposes before transferring immediately to Wisconsin.

So what does it mean that Seldon is "signed"?????

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

When Varner committed there was no binding paperwork. You could enroll at one school, leave, and enroll at another the next day without penalty. Now you officially sign a binding document that keeps you at the school until the next portal window

Thank for you clarifying and nice to see ya around

The next portal window being in the spring, though, right?

Supposedly, things are different this year. I don't have the exact documentation to support this. But, somewhere along the way, I read that transfers are essentially signing something binding. A "commitment" isn't really happening anymore without that signing.

His commitment got leaked before he had a chance to publicly commit. He's contractually bound to VT.
