So I would like to start out with yes FIFA is ridiculous and is one of the best games ever. Thoughts? Id tag/unique team names/ultimate team ideas?
Post some Fifa funny's or even own footage. Enjoy!

I've been playing for a while now, but I just started saving my goals. The other day I had to save one of my opponents goals, because it was so nasty. His forward dove in looked like he was going to try and head the ball in, instead he does a diving scorpion kick. It was by far the nastiest goal I've ever seen on FIFA and probably one of the nastiest I've ever seen in general. For those that don't know what a scorpion kick is, it's something like this -
Except in this case the player was diving as he flicked it over his own head.

So...am I the only one who thought this was video game footage at first?
Hahaha. When I had a roommate a while ago we were watching a Saturday Morning BPL game and his girlfriend walked in to the living room, said "Ughhhh, y'all play way too much FIFA" and then walked back out of the room.
I guess I will post my info in case people want to organize games:
PS3: Pumpahkin
I'm mostly playing Borderlands 2 right now, but would be willing to pick up FIFA 12 again in the event of a TKP tournament or something like that. Hmm I wonder how much FIFA 13 sells for nowadays...
(edited: double posted, whoops)
Nice nice, I enjoy ultimate team and have made some pretty OP beast teams that don't break the coin bank.!! I love the MLS team I have and the German League Team.
My user name is bmcduff and I play on Xbox one. I play with Sunderland mostly because they are my favorite team and I write for them. I'm not really good with Ultimate team but I play on it.
You write for them? How did that end up happening? In the state or UK? Huge Liverpool fan myself and so happy to see the bad years are hopefully behind us! Champions League would be immense for the Scousers
Well yeah I write for the blog section, http://www.safc.com/fans/blogs, I haven't in a while, they've been poor, really poor since the Cup final. I am in NY state. Probably four years or so ago the SAFC page sent out a message asking for people to write for them. So I signed up. The rest seems to be history. It's hard to believe I"ve been writing for them for that long.
Any reason for Sunderland? Jozy? I am a Bayern fan (I was before they won the Champion's league as well), but they are the only team I've seen in person or at least in their home stadium in person. I saw Man U. play Barca in DC, but neither Rooney nor Messi Played.
Originally it was because I was getting into soccer and I had a Black Cat, so I saw their name. But since it's just been the history and the culture of Sunderland football. I really liked Simon Mignolet, but they sold him and also Sess, but they sold him too. I guess as of now, my favorite is Giaccherini, because I'm a Juventus fan too. I was a Beckham fan, and I saw him play his first game in the Meadowlands with the Galaxy, ironically Jozy was there and scored two goals. Also I've seen two or three Red Bulls games in Red Bull Arena.
I'm a Bayern supporter - I have family originally from Munich - but I play my Manager Career with Sunderland. Team slightly resembles the current squad at this point: Still have Jozy, Giaccharini and Sess, but blew my meager transfer funds on 5 guys under 20 to bolster the future.
I haven't played any Ultimate Team, and to be honest I haven't ever dabbled in the Trading Card-type modes in any EA Games. I did pick-up FIFA Street this morning as part of the PSN Flash Sale for $4.99, so I'm looking forward to playing that this week. Is anyone thinking of getting the World Cup game (old-gen only)?
Oh, and if you get some random PSN invite this week, it is probably me. Apologies in advance - see you on the virtual pitch.
You play with SUnderland? That's awesome. I wish they still had Sess.
FIFA street is pretty cool. I played that for a while.
I don't play UT too much, but I sometimes hop over. Generally play career with the Gunners or a lower league English side (Nottingham Forest is my current one). And I'm on the PS4.
Can never go wrong with my boy Graham Zusi on Ultimate Team!
oh really? I know him very well, played with him in club team and in Holland. His family is extremely nice! Glad to see another Zusi fan in TKP
You've met him? I have been a huge fan ever since that hustle-run he made in the Azteca draw last year. He sprinted half the field to make a defensive clearance it was so awesome
I've played with him.. not in that way. But yes I know him, his sister and family. Played against him in High School and with him on a club team. Always knew he would go far, such a talented player.
Always thought he was one of the more underrated US players. I wonder whether he wants to test himself overseas or if he plans on staying in KC and MLS
Given the Zusi love, I thought you might appreciate this nugget in preparation for tonight's friendly:
If I could turn off Skyrim I would probably play FIFA. Long story short but when Skyrim came out, I probably had over 200 hours of game play into my character on there. Then my house got broken into, my PS3 and all went with it. Got a new PS3 but managed to avoid Skyrim again for almost a year, then we had all this snow and it was on sale for $19.99....I now have about another 150 hours into it. Not sure why I find it so addictive. Probably has a lot to do with how expansive the game play is. 150 hours and I probably haven't completed a tenth of all the missions available.
My usual slate of games is Madden and NCAA Football (R.I.P) and every few years I pick up FIFA, hockey, basketball and golf when EA is having one of their Christmas clearance sales.
Skyrim is an amazing game. I always liked the Fallout series as well. I have just picked Skyrim back up. You can spend so much time just walking around and going through dungeons, it's amazing.
The only really annoying part is how often you go over your weight limit. End up having to dump it all on the ground and instructing your follower to pick up every item individually so you can Fast Travel to a merchant to sell it off.
I went ahead and bought the expansion packs since I got the game cheap. Tons of new missions above the regular game with all those added in.
Yes I agree with the weight limit issue, but I ended up crafting a ring and I got the thieves guild armor as well to help with that. One of the masks is really good about that too. I like Dawnguard and Hearthfire, but I wasn't so big into the other one. The Books were annoying as hell.
I have almost all bow related items. Flawless Daedric bow with ring, bracers, helmet and necklace all increasing the effect. I kill probably 4 out of 10 opponents from the sneak shot first arrow.
I spent lots of time maxing out alchemy, enchanting and smithing and made ridiculous daedric equipment... And now it's too easy
you did spend a lot of time to max out those 3. i got mainly enchanted ebony stuff, with the mask of clavicus vile. i dare say i look pretty badass.
Yes, you probably do. All of those masks look badass as hell. I usually just wear some other armor and weapons that I didn't make (I prefer the dark brotherhood armor set) so that I'm not invincible and don't kill everything in one hit.
An older generation of Elder Scolls game, but in Morrowind I always cast Mark right next to the Creeper and would pile extra loot in a container or on a body somewhere in the dungeon along with using fortify strength and feather spells to carry more, then pick it up when I finished the dungeon, recall back to the creeper and sell/sleep/sell/sleep/sell until I had sold everything.
the elder scrolls are life.
I don't play much UT, but when I can build my own team in career mode I'm playing a 4-3-3 with a false 9 and a holding midfielder. I have my wingers and wide fullbacks push vertically while I hold the ball in possession in central midfield. When I have the ball I essentially become a 2-1-4-1-2 if that makes sense. My false 9 is just in front of the central middies and my wingers are out wide but far up the pitch. My fullbacks become even with my central midfielders and in front of my CDM. I look to spring my wingers on a lofted through ball early in possession or I pass the ball around the pitch until I get a shot. When I have possession near the box I like to isolate possession to one half of the pitch and keep the defense's focus there. I like to look for a vertical run from the opposite side of the field and chip a through ball in.
On defense I press like crazy (100% pressure on the Custom tactics) looking to create cheap and easy counters or to just get possession again. I get burned on counters on occasion, but I don't have the skill on the ball or defensive abilities to play any other way.
I look for fast wingers and a control oriented striker for my front line. All of them must be able to finish. I like midfielders who are excellent passers and quality standing tacklers. My defensive midfielder may as well be another CB, but he has better passing and control on the ball. My fullbacks have endurance, can tackle, and have some touch. My CBs are strong, sure tacklers and win a bunch of 50-50 balls.
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't finish a sentence in there.
its all about quick and efficient crossers at fullback, hit em on the overlap on the 4-5-1 with the double pivot holding mids. with good enough fullbacks and outside mids, that formation is one to be reckoned with
I think it depends on your preference. I very rarely cross the ball (sometimes I don't for an entire game). I'm too erratic at it, so I don't have a big need for a sturdy aerial threat in a striker either. For me, I don't need a fullback who can cross as well. I want a player who can get me the ball back and hold possession. If I have a very quick counter with only a couple defenders back, then I'll cross. But, that normally means my fullback isn't that far up the pitch.
A 4-5-1/4-2-3-1 with a double pivot is a great formation (there's a reason so many teams play with it). I just don't have the ability defensively for that to work.
Well that's why you need a good #10 too depending on what you wanna do (possess vs counter) a speedster or a beautiful passer. (By the way if you love counters get angel correa the dude is a beast) any who the crosses just add a whole other dimension when you can't work things inside play it out to the outside mid switch the field then play the overlap, then with a high back line any clearances will just result in another wave of attack. Again though you need terrific full backs you can also brute your way through it....I mean shit there's a reason Jose mourinhos teams are so good. Monsters at CB and a very sound defensive strategy high quick pressure and then they're absolutely ruthless on the counter
Sorry for the run ons that last sentence was supposed to agree with you, like you said to each his own if it ain't broke don't fix it, I just love experimenting with other playing styles though its fun to try to tinker
Btdubs what team do you typically use?
I really appreciate this playing style and wish I could use it. I'm just so awful at defending and crossing that I'd always lose doing it. The only way I can win is with pressing and passing. I agree crossing is helpful, I'm just so terrible at it.
When I'm playing with friends (and we all pick teams that are high level) I like to play with Dortmund. They play quickly and press well. Additionally, I can switch to a 4-3-3, but keep Lewandowski a normal striker. Move Gundogan to RCM. This is from playing FIFA 13 though, not 14.
I was gonna say if you like pressing and quick tempo you should try Dortmund haha I love watching them play. the new age barca might be a good choice too
Yea, the new version of Barca is much more direct and energetic (thankfully). They didn't press enough the last couple of years. It really made them a lot weaker since that's what they did under Pep. I think Martino has been trying to get them to change things properly, but I'm not sure if he has full player buy in. When you watch videos of that 2009 Barca team you can really tell why they were so lethal.
this * 1000, barca lost a step because they weren't as aggressive about recovering possession. they also weren't physical enough, which is why Bayern are scary good right now. They have the physical play of ribery and schwienstieger coupled with the skill of tony kroos and goetze and the possession basned strategy of pep. There is not an identifiable weakness on that squad. I'm shocked Man U managed to stand their ground and grind out a draw in the first leg, although I still think its going to end 4-1 aggregate. My original prediction was a 5-1 finish but kudos to man u for holding their own (this coming from a city fan)
ahhhhhh fifa ....so many hours spent playing that game furiously haha
Anyone play any 2v2? it's actually my favorite. It's much more fun for me celebrating goals with someone. Now that I don't have a roommate I don't play it quite as much, but usually 2 night a week one of my buddies is over and we get into the 2v2 w guest lobby...unfortunately past 9 pm on weekdays there aren't many others playing this way.
I have never owned a gaming console, but I really like playing Magic Pen on my PC. In my prime, I could finish every level using only 29 shapes.
Used to play FIFA 12 all the time with my roomates but everyone just sort of stopped playing.. I tend to now only play the NHL series
What FIFA year are you all playing? I put it down a long time ago because quite my husband lost interest but never really thought about playing ultimate mode online. I think FIFA12 is the latest one I have (ps3). I've been stuck on Borderlands 2 myself (when I can wrestle the Dark Souls 2 controller out of the husband's hands)
I was addicted with all sports games including and never really played any other type of games other than Batman. And then GTA happened.
FIIIFFFAAAAAA!
I'm on PS3, I play as Feilhabinho, and you're goddamn right I made up that screen name about a year after Benny scored that screamer against Mexico in the Gold Cup forever ago.
Online, I tend to play as Aston Villa, tho I enjoy Dortmund, Wales and Mexico, for some odd reason. In seasons, I generally start as a League 2 team and play until I win the Champions League. This year I get to use Newport County, because they're Welsh (family background is Monmouthshire). If anyone wants to play online, hit me up. If we get enough people we need to organize a TKP tournament!
Hell yeah I'm in! Wed have to set some boundaries though...try to keep team talents fair I don't wanna see someone play with Bayern and just ravage everyone that'd suck
This needs to happen. Or at least a multi-player game.
Where does one sign up!?
I was playing Fifa until Dark Souls 2 came out on 3/11/2014. Ever since DS2 has dominated my 360 that game is so addicting. Anyone else addicted to Dark Souls 2 and engulfed themselves in the Kingdom of Drangleic?
No one else plays Dark Souls 2, doesn't surprise me one bit its one of those games you wont see commercials for and only hear of through Game Informer magazine or word of mouth from friends and if you have heard of it you either play 10 minutes of it say its too hard and start to hate it or you love it and play nothing else for months.
Fifa 14 on the PS4 is really good, but for me, my time was completely sucked away so far by playing Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag. Wow, that game was excellent, and the visuals on the PS4 are so much better than it was on the PS3. You can really tell the difference on larger screens. I also have Killzone: Shadowfall.... Ehh, the game is alright, but for the most part, it just doesn't do anything for me. I was completely addicted to the Dead Space trilogy on the PS3, and I just don't think Killzone lives up to that level. I am hearing that EA is going to let the Dead Space series die out after the way DS3: Awakening ended, which would be a shame.
I'm really looking forward to Uncharted 4, whenever they can finish programming it and get it released on the PS4. I really liked U2, and while U3 was a bit underwhelming, I did like the storyline. Curious to see what direction they go.
That's where I am now. I love FIFA and Battlefield 4, but my friend loaned my AC:IV and I've been sucked in. Which is odd because I always got bored in the other AC games.
FIFA is obviously great, and if I'm going to play an online shooter it's going to be BF4. They obviously fudged up by releasing it too early but I don't have many problems anymore and I find it to be a fantastic FPS. I bought Killzone with the console and it's fun for one play-through in the campaign but after that I didn't see much reason to boot it up.
The end of May (Watch Dogs) is when I expect game releases to start rolling out at a pace where I won't really be able to keep up with everything I want to play. Just this year I'm interested in Watch Dogs, The Crew, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Destiny, and The Order:1886 (maybe). Also as I didn't have a PS3, I'm excited about The Last of Us being re-released on PS4 this summer.
My only complaint on AC4 is that the main storyline is too short to experience the rest of the gameplay that accompanies it. I am also not that big a fan of the whole abstergo portion of the games in the AC franchise. I was also hoping that they would better integrate AC3, Liberation and other aspects of the storyline into this game. I admit I was surprised when the credits started rolling.
Haha... the storyline for me didn't seem that short cause I'm big on trying to clear out all side missions before moving onto the next stage of the story. Took me about a month of serious playing to beat the game, and the only side missions or challenges I haven't gotten are the 4 legen-wait for it..... and you better not be lactose intolerant because them ships are filled with DAIRY... the 4 legendary ships.
Regardless, it is a great game after you figure out how to control all the guns in the ship battles. I think AC3 is my favorite but I really like the homesteading aspect of that game. Its probably why I like Skyrim so much as well. Building your own house is a pretty slick part of that game.
I never really got into the Homesteading angle of AC3. I maxxed out the pirates hideout in AC4 almost immediately (every night before bed and every morning when I got up for a few weeks straight I would log into the AC4 app on my tablet and do ship battles and send out for trading missions. Built up a HUGE stockpile of funds very quickly).
I just never really cared for the storyline in AC3. That game felt pretty disjointed at times, and the missions never seemed to run together properly.
Yeah the app to do battles made building your funds stupid easy. Quickly had 9 galleons and 3 frigates running missions. Would have been cooler if you could have chosen to sail those missions for real in the game.

Speaking of FIFA, did you see the announcement today that Barcelona is banned from making signings for the next 14 months. Pretty significant ban there because they will not be able to move step for step with Madrid and others.
http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1772107/barcelona-hit-transfer-ban?cc=...
It's about time FIFA started looking into things like this....
Let's see if it stands. They did the same thing to Chelsea a couple of years ago and backed down after an appeal.
EA just sent me the download offer for FIFA World Cup's demo.

US is looking good tonight.
until this second half started.
Bradley is a force though. Best American player by far.
I'm more or less a soccer neophyte, but our defense has seemed quite porous this half. Neither goal seemed like keeper-who-is-not-tim-howard's fault
No, nothing is on Rimando IMO. I dunno if it's all on defense but yeah we haven't been as solid in the back since the half started. We've made wholesale substitutions in an effort to see what the other guys have to offer so we've lost some fluidity in play, and most of that is in midfield. I'm still not sold on Beltran in defense. Yedlin is an interesting addition...
We just got dicked over on that offsides. And welcome to TKP, fellow MV
Yup the offside call was misjudged and that was a total shout for a penalty on the Julian Green move. Overall I'm very encouraged by this game. Jurgen is obviously trying new things to get an idea, but I think his first team plans are going to get us places.
And thanks, good to be here!
I'm sure the fact that Beasley and Orozco were not released to play in this game by their Mexican club team had absolutely no bearing on the outcome of this game whatsoever... I'm sure not at all...
Yeah it probably didn't help. I thought Parkhurst was good, Beltran not so much.
However I can't fault their club team (Puebla) for keeping them this week. They're fighting relegation this season and have to have their team at 100% as much as possible. Not worth risking those guys for a friendly from their point of view, which is understandable.

Anyone on here playing Elder Scrolls Online for PS4? I am not sure how I missed it when it came out and have been playing hardcore for about a month now. Pretty amazing the depth and variety of the world, especially the number of missions and the fact that they are still developing DLC. June they are going to release Morrowind as part of ESO which by the looks of it will be amazing.
Fellow ESO addict here played well over 1k hours on it the last few years I'm on and off it every now and then probably will get back into it after I finish mass effect andromeda this summer when morrowind comes out since the one tamriel update fixed its main issues it's an all around fantastic mmo my favorite on the market currently
I ran a dungeon with a group of guys that were all over level 200 the other day. I have to figure that they do nothing but play this game. It was incredible how fast I leveled up running around with them for a few hours.
How does ESO feel compared to say...Skyrim?
Better graphics, better gameplay, definitely not the repetitive gameplay you sometimes ran into in Skyrim. Also consider that Skyrim is just one piece of Tamriel. ESO has taken about 65-70% of Tamriel live and each area has a completely different landscape, totally different missions, different enemies. Only complaint i have is that it can get sluggish or boot you out if your network signal runs low. Doesnt happen very often but you will know when it is because you start seeing things freeze up. I also like the flexibility that is much the same as Skyrim in that it is open world so you dont have to follow any one mission thread to advance the game. I would say that ESO is like having 8-10 different Skyrims to play. One other thing you have to be careful of is the skill set tree. It definitely takes work to advance skills and you need to provide balance in the skill sets or it can make advancing harder in certain regards.
I second what he says biggest changes are the combat is cool down skill based like per say diablo 3 in a way but it's got the elder scrolls feel too it the worlds are the biggest most diverse I've even seen compared to other mmos there is always something to do
Once you get champ level over 200 it's easier yes my solo magika mage owns my old main was a Stam night blade which is gnarly but tricky solo the mage was far better damage wise but the dungeons are what makes eso so good they're very well done
Edit: I apologize I was rushing before dinner to post that and used some lingo that's complicated basically it's like skyrim where you build a character based on magika or stamina but it's very broad and complicated but simple once you figure it out
Waiting for the new mass effect has been brutal trying to avoid one billion spoilers I'm all for some trailers and short quick gameplay demos but today's news is over the top
