In her new role, Kitley will work closely with Coach Duffy and General Manager Stephen Fishler on key strategic initiatives, including community outreach, fundraising, and NIL efforts. She will also have Women's Basketball home event broadcasting roles with the Virginia Tech Sports Network radio and ACC Network Extra (ACCNX) teams.
In addition to her external duties, Kitley will be actively engaged with student-athletes, serving as a mentor and role model both on and off the court. She will also assist players in developing their personal brands while navigating opportunities within the evolving NIL landscape.
While supporting the program, her time will also be spent in Blacksburg preparing for her return to professional basketball after stints with the Golden State Valkyries and Las Vegas Aces.
Great way to bring back a transformative athlete back to Tech.

I hope she is going to continue to take some of her med school classes. At one point she wanted to be a doctor.
Sounds like potentially a part time gig for her as she still hopes to go back to the pros.
Glad to have her back in the program. Hopefully she can get another shot at the WNBA. That injury derailed everything.

She's one of my all-around favorites, so I'm happy for her (and us)!
Would like to see her get another shot at the WNBA, but in the mean time their loss is our gain.
I would not be shocked if the position we are paying her for would be more than a WNBA paycheck.
WNBA minimum is about $65,000.
The WNBA is tough. There are just not enough teams to support the draft classes.

Can the NBA support that many WNBA teams?
The new ownership groups had to ante up $250M a piece.
They do have a $200M a year TV deal that starts in 2026 out to 2037 but that's chump change broken up between 15-18 teams.
Players may try to strike as well as they don't have a new CBA. Said to be demanding huge raises across the board.
All this from a league that lost $40M last year and an average of $10M a year for the 25 years prior to that.
So players strike and the league folds. No more women's professional basketball. Got it.
