A TKP native dark mode would be nice. I've used the chrome flag for this in the past, but it washes some things out.
This is probably a niche feature, but having the ability to embed a bluesky or even insta post would be nice. I know most of Hokie internet is on TwiXer, but people's socials have fractured a bit and finding an X post without an account is a real pain.
I like the @ing idea, I can think of a handful of times I would have used it and GGC made a good point that at the very least being able to ping a mod would help prevent a thread going off the rails sooner.
The ability to save a post for later and/or schedule a post would be nice for some of the longer posts I have made in the past for pressers, NSD, and roster tracking. I have been pulled away from those due to work or kids and lost them or posted them half done to come back and correct later. This is probably another very niche feature, but definitely a pain point for me occasionally.

Back when I was doing my "fantasy football maps" or r/CFB I used to have text files written in reddit markup text because of this. I'd want to write it all out for later posting but after either closing the browser accidentally or having some mystery restart overnight, I ended up moving stuff to notepad.
Not a function I've used here, but it was super frustrating when something got closed at an inopportune time.

I've used google keep for this specifically for plaintext since they are almost always temporary notes I want to get to my desktop for some reason. Docs just isn't great for plaintext content

As I am mostly TKPing from my phone lately, I would very much appreciate a 'Continue Thread' functionality like there is on Reddit where we can have the ability to continue reading comments once they get to that point where each line is 1 or 2 characters long. Once threads get to that point as it stands, I give up following it because you essentially have to try to reply to the comment to see what it says, and by the time you've done that the browser logs the entire thread as read so you lose your place on where you were.

Is this a regular issue? I know it happens, but I did some math on comment threads and it's pretty rare, but also my math could be wrong. Do you have links to recent threads where it breaks down?

very rarely. unnecessary IMO. by that time it's more a novelty of seeing comments get down to single row and if you want to actually continue a real conversation can just new post or new reply to OP, then copy last comment, paste and write new comment.

Not a weekly thing but it is a bit site breaking when it does happen.
Honestly with the NHL playoffs this year and job searching I haven't been TKPing nearly as hard as I normally do. Assuming you do implement the @ feature I'll try to bring your attention whenever it does occur in case there might be an easy fix

This reminded me of one thing I don't like about the site...."View recent posts" under the profile just takes you to a list that I think is whatever the user commented on (which is basically the same as "View recent comments" it'd be nice if it just filtered posts that were authored by that user.

Another fun, low priority, feature would be the ability to add discord-style reactions with some custom emojis. IDK if that would mess up the turkey leg system though. Some examples:
I know someone had currated the TKPisms and lore a while back and made a post, but a permanent wiki of sorts for inside jokes and site functionality to point new members to would be a nice feature and hopefully easy lift if crowdsourced. Everytime we have a new features post I feel like even us long standing TKPers learn something about existing functionality of the site.

Since no one seems to have asked any questions about TKP, I'll shoot. What other features do you have in the works for the near future? Do you have a vision for TKP's next year? We've heard about the challenges with implementing monthly payments, but is there another update that is/was an absolute PITA to implement.

Right now I am working on building a marketing funnel. I actually just finished a properly segmented email list in a new email marketing provider. I am also working on some under the hood structural SEO improvements. Then I am going to pick up suggestions from this thread. The sub-thread feature seems like a good one. Dark mode seems like another good one. I'm open to whatever suggestions people have, I want to regularly ship new and useful features.
The vision for this season is to provide the best coverage of Virginia Tech football of any site, and to make that coverage more accessible and visible. You're going to see some old and new faces writing for the site and I am really excited for the content.

OK, here's another request - when you're on mobile it can be a lot of scrolling in a thread with dozens of comments to get to the comment box to add a net new comment. But I suppose it might be in intentional because you might want to force the user to read all the existing comments before adding a new one.
Similarly, if you wanna create a new post on mobile, I think you have to scroll past all of the showcase articles until you reach the top of the tracker – making this easier to find would be nice

On mobile I only scroll to active discussion, I never look at the headlines, if it is a headline it will be there (in active diacussions) so I just ignore them

Background and text boxes shades of maroon. 'Green' comments get a hokiestone pattern applied to the background in the same style we use on jersey numbers as well as what used to be in Cassell. New comments are maybe have comment box outlined in orange?
All text is white, headers and names orange. Upvotes and down votes are orange and white. I can help workshop some of this for you if you want, don't start my next job for a couple weeks.

I'm good for a Dark Mode. I would still love to see the "N ⬇️" button swapped with the "M ⬇️" for easier one handed doom scrolling.

I have firefox dark mode (and windows dark mode) permanently enabled. So full transparency it wouldn't effect me at all

That might be a you problem? I have to login maybe once a month at most?
Mine is really inconsistent. Sometimes I can go several weeks between logins and other times it seems like I get logged out every few days.

I feel like it's every 3 months for me. Feels like a very long time between log-ins.
If I switch devices its a lot more frequent but 3 months sound about right on just 1 device
I have a feeling this is part of my problem. I am chronically switching devices and on different networks.
Once dark mode gets framed up, it's a short hop to add "all maroon everything(ish)" mode too haha
