Over the years, Virginia Tech Hokies sport affiliates have provided memorable quotes that keep Hokie nation entertained during and after games. Players, coaches, alumni, and administrators have all contributed to this ongoing trend. Each fan has his/her own memorable quote. One of my favorite is coach Beamer saying, "the further away you are from the ball, the better your chances of seeing the field". And, "weve got as loud a stadium as any college football team in the nation."
What are your favorite memorable quotes from a Virginia Tech Hokie?

"I thought the kid you're talking to right there played his nuts off. You can quote me on that shit too. Played his ass off. Fought his ass off."
Bud Foster
(nods head approvingly)
I wish I had kept my video from that conference. I was standing right in front of Bud as he went off on Mike Barber. The most awkward interview I've ever witnessed.
"38-0, bro"
-LT3
"If you can play, you can play," Michael Brewer
"When people ask me about how I pick up the playbook, I just say theres only so many places people can go on the field," Michael Brewer
"Welcome to the Terror Dome baby"
-Corey Moore
Edit: Embedded it
This.
For me, nothing touches "Welcome to the Terror Dome, baby" by the legend, Corey Moore.
Tyrod did it, Mikey! Tyrod did it! Bill Roth
"Touchdown Tech!" - Bill Roth
Also,
"Jim Druckenmiller has engineered the greatest comeback I have ever seen!"
Basically that entire play call from the Jermaine Holmes TD vs. LOLUVA in 95
GIVE IT TO ME ROSCOE
Love this one
DANNY COALE!!! WIDE OPEN!!!!!!!
ALL THE WAY!!! TO THE THREE!!!
Everytime I heard or apparently read this quote chills go shooting throughout my whole body. By far my most favorite Hokie football moment.
I lost my mind at CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHT
2 from former OL coach J.B. Grimes, both about Jim Druckenmiller:
"He's stronger than train smoke"
"He can throw the ball through the crack of dawn"
I had never heard these expressions before. I would say I would use these, but I don't think I am Southern enough.
"Hey kid, catch." -Kevin MacCadam
"Give it to me Roscoe! Give it to me!" -DeAngelo Hall
"ROGERS SMASH"- Sam Rogers
What was D-Hall talking about when he said that?
Hall didn't say it... Burnop did
ehh, Bill Roth said that.
Really? Damn, I always remembered it in Burnop's voice... my bad
Bill Roth said "HE (Deangelo) said 'give it to me Roscoe. Give it to me!' Therefore...
Thanks.
Are you sure Hall didn't pass the ball to himself on that play?
"This guy is slicker than a peeled onion in a bowl full of snot!"
-Mike Burnop referring to Ryan Williams vs. Nebraska
I agree.
"GET YOUR ASS DOWN THERE AND CELEBRATE!" - Lefty
"Is there anything better than Thursday night in Blacksburg?"
"These people are losing their minds."
"And he FIRES A DART TO DANNY COALE!"
"And it is.... CAUGHT!"
- Various ESPN commentators
#PunterSwag - AJ Hughes
"These people are losing their minds"
Classic. Beautiful
Im not in a perfect world. So weve got to find a QB. And well find out who that QB is." Scot Loeffler
"Danny Coale -- I dont care what the officials said -- you caught that ball!" Senator Mark Warner.
Who was it that said "I'm going to the University of Virginia........... Tech?"
Yeah, him.
Tyrod.
Thanks. I couldn't remember if it was Tyrod or DW and didn't want to pick the wrong one.
No sweat. I got schooled on it last week on the "Ferrell to Clemson" thread, b/c he called CU the University of Clemson.
If I remember correctly Tyrod played it off well by stating he was just trolling Florida.
Cornell Brown is the first I remember uttering that line
"Damn, Look at all these people at the UVA spring game!"
-No one ever
Nicely done. Way to switch it up.
Most of my favorites are somewhere in James Gayle's Twitter feed.
Yeah, especially when he took a shot at....Morgan Moses?
That one was a classic.
Also:
and
I'm really hoping one of the new guys can step up and talk as much smack as James Gayle. Until I joined TKP, that's where most of my weekday entertainment came from.
And I thought I couldn't like James Gayle anymore than I did. I was wrong.
Nice and timely digs at both Moses and UVA at large. And you know they can't come back because the decade of dominance speaks for itself, and if you challanged Gayle to a contest that involved physical prowess, he would win and also probably hurt you.
I remember listening to a game from the 2001 or 2002 season where Mike called a touchdown catch and described the receiver catching the ball and "taking it through the end zone, out the tunnel, down Prices Fork all the way to Radford."
I also have to link to this one, posted recently by VTMikeO
Greatness from Billy Hite
One of the most glorious posts in the history of the site from one of the most glorious quotes in the history of mankind.
Came to this thread for this quote. Wasn't disappointed.
"Im a big dude that can move, so I always had an open mind". Bucky Hodges
"UVA blows". Ben Franklin to his pal TJ.
"Ill hit phillip sims so hard he'll decide to just kick it in chesapeake take some onlines"
-Bane Gayle
"From the Blue Waters of the Chesapeake Bay to the Hills of Tennessee, the Virginia Tech Hokies are on the air."
This gives me chills every time I hear Roth say that before a game. Leg!
Would love to credit this to the right offensive lineman, but can't remember who said it. Chris Malone, maybe?
After beating Miami:
"They're Miami, so they like to talk. Later, they weren't quite so loquacious."
"Loquacious. Can you spell that?"
"Of course, at Virginia Tech we're true student athletes."
Had me fooled. I thought Loquacious was a WR prospect for Da U for the class of 2015.
Except, with the level of edumakashun Miami provides, he spells it Lowkwashus
I've been giving out turkey legs to everyone like its my job. I love these!! Especially
the older ones.
Agree. I'm just sitting here like...
...They'll really get after ya.
"Exum Island Daycare is open for business"
Was this an actual quote? Hell, whatever, it's fine.
"Tone luh the kids"
"I'm committing to play for Virginia Tech"
-Fuller, Fuller, Fuller, and Fuller
I'll just leave this right here...

Chills, just chills.
Listening to Lane Stadium go nuts is always a welcome sounds. I was at a fair amount of these games. Good times. Can't remember it being that loud lately, but man when it's rocking...
"These people are losing their mind!!!"
goodbye, work for the day.
Does anybody know if there is a compilation of VT radio broadcasts of football games somewhere?
Or maybe just the memorable ones?
I like to do chores with a football game blasting load on the radio.
I have a bunch of chores to do this summer.
"Someone get me some new pants"

Also, feel like I had to share this:
I had no idea that existed. Thanks.
*Promptly watches entire video*
we sure could've used that guy in 2012
I prefer 5:56. "Pick up your ACL. It's on the ground."
"WHO'S YOU'RE DADDY?!?!?"
"We wanted to show the world Tech never left. Miami might be back, but we never left."
- Rashad Carmichael
"Erick Green, whoa! How do ya like them apples!?"
"Babcock...Time to Stick It In, again."
I just met Laurence Gibson tonight. He's a pretty cool dude. So I guess one of my favorite Hokie quotes would be, "Hey, I'm Laurence."
"Minor setback for a major comeback"
Only thing on my mind this morning
A minor setback is a loss to #2 BC in Blacksburg on the last play.
ODU is a major loss. We might be able to right the ship but the loss will hurt us long term in recruiting within the Commonwealth, and especially the 757.
If I'm a top recruit in the 757 and Fuente tries to come in selling me some we're on the rise bs, I look at him and just say "ODU" after that. Can't sell momentum when you just lost every last shred of it.
Sure, because ODU and Tech compete for same players? A single win or lose rarely means nyunt to a recruit otherwise OSU win would have moved the needle. Plenty of teams that do even make bowl games still recruit top 25 classes.
This is not about VT vs. ODU in recruiting. This is our perception in-state to top recruits who have been leading an exodus to the Clemson's, FSUs, Bamas, OSUs, PSUs of the world for years now. There is already enough momentum against us instate, and I fear this will only solidify the narrative that Tech is not capable of competing at the top level. Sure one win or loss isn't everything, but it's in the context of the program trajectory overall. No way we should ever lose to ODU, and this is just a continuation of classic VT letdowns. Add in that this happened in front of the 757, and I don't see how you truly recover from this perception-wise for a long time.
Sure that OSU win didn't mean anything, because we completely crapped the bed the following week. It's becoming a pattern.
Way to keep a positive outlook boys and girls. Why root for vt if we are so terrible? Negativity will only lead to more disappointment. You should hop off the bus now before it gets worse
Gonna go ahead and mark off the "True Hokie" bingo spot...
My sarcasm meter is going off for some reason but I'll still take it as a compliment, lol
I just never understand what the negativity accomplishes. If everyone is just frustrated, I get it but if it's doom and gloom why not just go find something that makes you happy if this isn't it
Lmao!
Oh man, this ODU loss set us right back to 2013-2015.
We might be in for a heck of a ride this season, everybody.
I've had to come to accept that people handle losses way differently than I do, and that's just how it is. I will say that anyone who is considering not watching games or selling their tickets to big games entirely because of this reek of fair weather though.
I am SO tired & done with this one & the mentality attached to it. It's NEVER won us any National Championships.
"I started that trend. Once I came in the league and did what I did, coaches wanted that type of quarterback, and now they're getting them. And now you've got Kaepernick, and now you've got Russell Wilson, and now you've got RG III. You've got Cam Newton. You've got Andrew Luck who can move. I was kind of the originator. That's something I can take to the grave. We all know that. It feels good to know I was kind of the trendsetter."Mike Vick
