Something special is happening in Blacksburg

After about an hour of jumping around, fist pumping in the air and singing hokie hokie hi, I realized something special happened tonight:

1. Our team went from boys to MEN
2. Our AD is a catalyst for us to be apart of the Football Playoff and he GETS IT
3. We believe. The team believes. The coaches believe. We have something special happening.

All I know is this is just the beginning of what this team can truly do. Ask anyone who was in Blacksburg last night, something is different.

What did you see special happening last night?

Agree with you there. This team has a vibe that I have not felt about a Virginia Tech team in many many years.

Let's hope it isn't the End of the Road

Dear God keep this team going strong. I'm Down on Bended Knee.

As nice as it was waking up this morning, I just found it So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday

We need to capitalize on our strengths and build now and not Wait Til the Water Runs Dry.

That's it! Man Cards. Hand em over!

As Beamer said...need to build on it. ECU has enough talent to beat us if we don't focus on the next game.

We'll see how mature the team is this weekend and next weekend. There are still A LOT of games to play.

Next game against ECU will determine what kind of team we have here.

Bleeding burnt orange and chicago maroon

It's not an exaggeration to say ECU might have the second best Defense we face this year. Their LBs are legit.

Carden is no joke either along with their one big WR who he seems to only throw to

We can take 'em down!

What I saw was everyone on the same page, and everyone executing to near perfection. The game plan was flawless and the execution was nearly flawless, and nobody in Ohio saw it coming.
This post by French, just before kickoff, was the most memorable of the weekend for me:

"Trust in yourself. Trust in the man next to you. Trust in the play call and execute it. The winning will take care of itself

Get your mind right Hokies. It is GAMEDAY."

Who doesn't get a chill reading that right about now?

A picture is worth a thousand words. A gif is worth a million.

Blacksburg was special in itself last night. I went to a viewing party on campus (which was more fun than expected, but completely sobering) and all 200-or so people were going crazy for big plays or cussing out the refs when they made a bad call. The students actually seem like they want to be part of an active fan base now, and that only means good things. At least until Blacksburg is destroyed by a riot.

I went over twitter from last night and the gameday thread here and and the sense I got on those places was that when OSU scored in the second half they were expecting the worst. Everything was going downhill. I was at Champs and I felt the exact opposite. Obviously people were upset with the scores, the interception(s? can't remember how many) and the fumble, but everything was positive. Like we knew we would pull it out. We would make the play when it counted. Momentum never seemed to shift, I don't know it was just this feeling I can't really put into words.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

I did think the worst after they tied it back up. I texted a friend that I thought the game was getting away from us.

I'll admit I was a debbie downer when osu put up 14 unanswered to tie it. I posted of FB that "I've seen this movie before" because I had, hell we all have. What finally sold me was the O's drive to set up the Ford to Hodges TD. That was a movie I had not seen.

EDIT: Brewer to Hodges...

The who to Hodges? Are you from the future?

"Yeah, it do." - Mike Vick

Haha, good catch. I had Isaiah Ford on the brain when I was thinking about someone catching the rock.

I was getting pretty down during the 14-point run. I was pissed that we were giving up plays. But then, right after they tied it up, I had this moment where I said to myself, "No. Tonight is different." I have no idea the source of that confidence, but I just felt it.

"Exit light..."

Exactly. Last night was different. And you could sense it in the air.

I realized something special was happening after they came roaring back to tie the game. Teams of years past would have folded. These guys stood tall and delivered the knockout blows.

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

The calmness of Brewer even under fire in a hostile environment is different for sure. He just seems to get it!
We have been missing playmakers and leadership and these two issues look to be fully resolved from what I saw at
21-21. Wow, All I want is to do the whole thing again.

SCHokie

I think we all started to identify something very different with the second effort from the guys.

For me, anyway, I was able to put my finger on it, that something was different, when I posted in the W&M thread, the photo with all the guys running downfield with McKenzie and the lineman was with him, after his terrific block at the LoS, he was 15 yds downfield looking for his next opportunity to help.

That's it. It's not a bunch of athletes, it's a team.
9 guys rushed with the ball, 6 guys caught passes, 2 guys got interceptions, 4 guys got TDs, heck, the kickers are getting noticed for their fine tackling and effort after the kick, the whole entire line is getting helmet stickers, a guy gets awarded national defense player of the week.

That's a team, and that makes the whole stronger than the sum of it's parts.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I was actually not worried when they tied it up as their points came from our mistakes rather than them outplaying us. I just had this feeling if we didn't hand them the game, they wouldn't be able to take it from us. I knew though if they scored again to take the lead the crowd would finally have something to get behind and that might turn the momentum for the rest of the game. I honestly was only wanting a field goal, but Brewer delivered the touchdown. I jumped for joy then slammed my O&M streamer thingy when I saw Bucky dancing. That was just the type of boneheaded mistake they had capitalized on to come back. Thankfully Bud and the defense had bad intentions and slammed the door.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.
